  1. Either of these two acquisitions would be most welcome, though I think we are going to have make a trade to get bullpen help worthy of the name. We desperately need a power/strike RH set up pitcher, though I've been please with Burton's outings thus far.
  2. C'est vrai.
  3. I'm going to go with my heart and say that I really do think we can win tomorrow in a 5-4 victory and take down the evil empire. Take 3/4!!!
  4. For those of you who'd rather have Blackburn on the 15 day DL and not expose Hughes, wouldn't that move just prolonging the inevitable and only by 10 days or so? Do you really think Hughes would have gotten many AB in those few days before Blackburn comes back, and that he would have had solid ABs with average defense in that interim? I don't think so. I was really high on Hughes coming out of ST this year and last, and still wish we would have seen him get a couple back-to-back starts -- in order to really size up his skills. Yet, his defense really was not good when he played this year, and a utility IF should be at least average in the field. Good luck Luke, though I hope you get through waivers.
  5. Yes, pitching will be the ruin of this team with mere 'serviceable' starters and one of the worst bullpens in recent memory.
  6. Saved the lead with a DP. Can't win much of anything with these pitching performances.
  7. No, you were not the only one... I think we all were (are) nervous with our pen and their (mis)adventures.
  8. That really felt good. So many nice surprises tonight (Casilla's D, and a little offense too, Morneau back at 1B and hitting p-rods, Mauer hitting with a little power, Pavano pitching well, bullpen not imploding, and on and on it goes.... well). Let's get 3 out of 4!
  9. Agreed, though I sub Plouffe for Thomas against lefties.
  10. Can our so-called power lefties (M, M, Doumit) put something together, together tonight? It's about time. Go Twins!
  11. Thanks for saving me the posting shame of incorrect punctuation. I've edited in a question mark.
  12. So frustrating.... bad, bad team.
  13. Will Mauer have the dignity to restructure his contract for 13 million/year, which is still more than he's worth, and use that 10 million to get some pitching? If I were him, I'd be embarrassed.
  14. And here is our 2012 bullpen. Though I blame Gardy too: why not leave Burton in to face two RH batters and then bring in Perkins to face Hamilton. Rangers are RH heavy and kill LH pitching.
  15. Swarzak got the first quality start of the team this year.
  16. Oh good, no invented racism discussion on this thread. Go Twins!
  17. I think it would serve this community well to take a look at the underrepresentation of minorities at TwinsCentric and ask, “why don’t TwinsDaily and TwinsCentric hire, publish on the front page, and link to minority contributors at the same frequency as white contributors. Of course this is absurd, and therefore so is the question of this thread. Now, let’s get back to baseball.
  18. Totally reject the premise of the question. In fact, it commits a fallacy called 'complex question' in which you force any answer to already assume something is in the question is true.
  19. Bwaaaahhaaaa!
  20. Maybe you could add minor league players to this and make it a weekly posting. I think many of us who love the game and are interested in our farm but don't have the time to follow it as much as we'd like -- would love it.
  21. sorry, long grass int he IF helps with bunting.
  22. I was thinking that we'd want to have short grass resembling the ground ball and infield hit success of the metronome... also helps with bunting... but in the outfield, we are prettying slow and sluggish get to balls.
  23. Jeff Gray in line for the win again, with only two pitches thrown this game. This could be 2 wins for him in 2 days on three total pitches. The "wins" statistic is surely the dumbest stat in baseball.
  24. Anyone else think the grass is a little long (both OF and IF). It's really slowing the roll of the ball. Does this play to our advantage?
  25. Just to show how meaningless wins are for pitchers, Jeff Gray picks up the W with one pitch. Dumbest stat ever.
