  1. I looked this up last night but could not find an answer: Does Liriano have any minor league options remaining?
  2. Here we go with Liriano (see it rhymes ).....
  3. Clete watch: 0/1 K (looking)
  4. I don't think we'll see Mauer Doumit and Parmelee in the same lineup ever again. Doumit's ABs from RF are going to be few and far between now that Clete is apparently the primary (and platoon with Plouffe) RF.
  5. Well, playing the hot hand surely is not a guy who goes 0-4 with 3 k. If that's hot, then Butera will be have the hot hand at C in no time.
  6. Top of the lineup, now or never.... or maybe just a later... like in the ninth.
  7. Good win, nice save Capps!
  8. Why not pinch hit Morneau for Valencia? Then sub Burroughs for defense... no brainer IMO.
  9. There must be something we don't know... I don't see how Thompson wouldn't be step up from Gray. Then again, he's been our best relief picker, save Burton, perhaps and Perkins when healthy.
  10. I agree with you. I guess I should say I don't like having 2 Cs either, and I wouldn't to do it. Since I don't see Gardy putting Doumit in RF regularly, it doesn't make sense is my bottom line. Even then, I still agree with you. This scenario makes even less sense if Doumit is on the bench (Mauer catching and Clete in RF) AND ALSO having a third catcher. Fair enough? Also, I thought the same thing about having so may guys who can play many positions. I don't call that added versatility, I call that intentially moving players out of position to fill an imagined stop-gap defensive emergency.
  11. With Doumit's ABs limited due to the RF musical chair addition of Clete, why add any player that takes away ABs at catcher? OR, will this third Catcher only sit on the bench in case of emergency, never getting in except as a late inning replacement for Doumit at C? Until there is a plan for Doumit getting regular ABs, I don't see how bringing another C up makes any sense. It only makes sense if they intend to put Doumit in RF regularly.
  12. This thread appears thought provoking for you... is there a culmination or analysis rendered?
  13. If you want and enjoy petulant remarks, keep to the epsn boards. Please save it for blowhard fans of other teams, if you must.
  14. Correction: sorry, Gray gets credit for one of the HRs... apparently using the same approach as Swarzak hoping for a different result. Bleh.
  15. Okay, I'm done. Haha!
  16. I just don't understand how Swarzak made little adjust in his approach to Granderson. Two homers on fastballs and one change up. He kept trying to keep the ball down (usually what you want to do when pitching) but Granderson loves down, and especially down and in. Either push him off the plate (how about some chin music?!) or keep it low and away or high and away with the hard stuff. Granderson, like too many opposing hitter, looked way too settled into the batter's box, covering and owning all the plate. This cannont happen if one wants to be a successful MLB pitcher.
  17. Uh, I seriously hope it's bullpen help, which we should have gotten earlier.... like in the offseason.
  18. Nous sommes en (dans) l'eau profonde, n'est pas?
  19. Pitching is always priority #1, always. Good pitching keeps you in games, leading to more wins -- much more so than offense will on a consistent basis. That said, if there are no #2 projected starters or higher, go with the best player available, IMO.
  20. uh... your foot is larger than most what?
  21. Very interesting. We've talked for years about the GIDP of Mauer and Cuddyer killing rallies. It's nice to have some numbers/stats to show their real (quantitative) effect in a game. Don't worry TwinVikes, some commenters have welded homer glasses on and get snarky and upset if you opine that Mauer is not worth 23 million, which he certainly is not since the contract's inception.
  22. So... you are of the mind that the Twins make the playoffs with that record? ((there aren't 162 games left))
  23. I thought this situation through as well, though with Baker gone, Perkins questionable, Blackburn questionable, and already the possibility that we could pick up BP help on waivers -- and with Liriano draining the pen -- I think there is much greater need to keep arms up with the club, rather than Hughes. He'll get his shot one way or another, either now with another team, or after July 31st.
  24. I was thinking how herculean a task it would be to make a determination of talent in one draft compared to another, but no so difficult to compare the talent 1-10. I do think the 1-10 projections this year are not as talented comparatively, but what the heck do I know.
  25. Where does this year's draft talent stack up against other or "normal" draft's talent? I have the impression that the talent is down this year, but I may be wrong.
