  1. if they are going to interpret the rule that way, then bring back the huge collisions, the Pete Rose one, the Bo Jackson one - the new rule protects nobody if you allow Conger to position himself as he did.
  2. Where Conger positioned himself, straddling the foul line, he made it inevitable that fielding the ball would involve blocking Mauer's path to the plate. Thus, I call baloney on that ruling.
  3. Kind of a sucky start. At least they're putting wood on the ball.
  4. Hey, I just got quoted by Jack Morris!
  5. Why have the rule if you're not going to enforce it?
  6. Isn't Colin McHugh one of those guys with a high-rpm curve ball?
  7. Great write-up's Jeremy. Entertaining and informative. Twins have one of those "good" problems coming up. Hicks will allow them to give Buxton a rest, or Hunter a rest, or play whoever has the hot hand.
  8. Great analysis, Parker. It's fascinating how a hip turn of a few inches or a few degrees has such a drastic impact on a hitter's ability to cover more of the strike zone. The other thing I noticed was that along with the increased gather from his hip turn, it allowed Sano to come through farther with his right hip on the follow through, which allowed him to drive his hands farther forward and outward, increasing the carry of the barrel through the zone. That extra carry will translate into more consistent contact and more opposite field power, as well as the ability to pull outside pitches. These small but important changes suggest a combination of coaching and Sano's great confidence in his own abilities. With his cool discipline at the plate and his awesome power, Miguel Sano already must be one of the most intimidating hitters in the league. And he's getting better. Yikes.
  9. I can hardly wait to throw some shapeless, nameless slab of meat on the grill for tonight's game. Extra E is bringing Big Bend tonight. Can he actually make the ball curve all the way back to his glove? That's what I heard..!
  10. There's actually a word for that: pterodactyl. Some of them have wings, too!
  11. I'm not the biggest TR fan, but picking up Jepsen looks like it was a very good move. But I'll still miss Dr. Hu...
  12. Actually, I've got a great Ramen recipe that I call "Faux Pho." I will reveal this secret next game, if I remember.
  13. Buxton is lunging at the ball. Very awkward looking. Needs to keep his weight back and crouch lower, more like Ricky Henderson.
  14. Trevor May dropping Uncle Charlies like he's been taking notes from Tyler Duffey. Big benders from the bull pen!
  15. Trevor May looks really good. I'm glad Roy Smalley acknowledged his contributions and his development as a pitcher. May really has learned to nail the corners much better since he hit the pen.
  16. The one thing I really miss about Gomez is the unreasonable joy he gets from a simple fly ball catch in center field. The guy really knows how to enjoy every moment of baseball. Captain Chaos, Mr. Drama.
  17. I save my pro tips for the cool kids.
  18. The Twins are crapping out the worst bunts I've seen in years. National League pitchers do it better.
  19. Perkins threw the best sliders I've seen from him in a couple months.
  20. Sometimes you can find a little dark ball of something under the chicken. I think that's the liver, but I've never been sure...
