  1. 6'3" 190 and 18 years old with that kind of athleticism (nice dunk) -- not too worried about his power numbers at this point.
  2. I get the gist, but I can't recall hearing this "he took the post" phrase. Probably just me.
  3. If you took a composite of league's catching prospects, is it a position that doesn't rank too well? In other words, are good catching prospects hard to come by? If yes, these 3 middlin' prospects might be the norm for most organizations.
  4. I think the real question is: Can Buxton stop getting hurt?
  5. Brusdar Graterol. At that to the collection of great names in minors for the Twins.
  6. Palacios has some pop for a guy who doesn't strike out much and is listed at 145 lbs. It'll be fun to keep an eye on him. I'm thinking of him as the next Roberto Alomar until I see otherwise.
  7. See what happens in the next hour, but looks like Ryan is trying to do as little as dealing possible yet remain a viable wild card contender. Can't say he's wrong.
  8. I take Ryan and Molly's comments wiith a grain of salt. If they really don't make any big deals, then they've tempered expectations. If they are deep in negotiations (which they likely are), acting hellbent to make a deal plays into the hands of their trade partner. The Reds and Padres are saying, "We don't need to trade these guys. We actually would sort of like to keep them. But, if we get an offer we can't refuse..."
  9. Michael Tonkin might provide some "extra sprinkles" on prospect sundae.
  10. And what's up with new phenom Tyler Jay? Uff dah!
  11. I like the Plouffe in the OF occasionally idea. If they really want to win, start using Mauer behind plate once in a while, too.
  12. The Twins win with a young pitcher on the mound giving them the 4th best winning percentage in AL. All these young guys in the minors living up to or exceeding expectations. It's getting to the point where the curmudgeons concede "It's not turning out as bad as I thought it would."
  13. I'm becoming fascinated with Alex Swim and his singles hitting prowess -- 44 singles, 2 doubles. He doesn't strike out much. He doesn't walk much. He hits for almost no power. Interesting hitter. What's his approach?
  14. Seems like guys rated this highly by almost everyone rarely flop. If Byron stays healthy, he will be a star. The rest might work out. Hope so.
  15. My hope is that 4 months (not this month, because this team is going nowhere) from now we have a legit feeling that the team is poised (within 1 or 2 years) to become very competitive for a long time. For this to happen we need our prospects to steadily progress (or shake the dust off) and be either dominating the minors or already called up (because they were dominating in the minors).
  16. If the Twins are going to win 60 or so games this year, I'd so much rather watch the young guys try to win the games. Someone mentioned it, even if it was just to watch better defense being played.
  17. Right. Mainly I see a possible scenario where Arcia and Vargas would best fit as DHs and that might be one DH too many.
  18. One way or another, I think the Twins need to keep Sano playing a position with his athleticism, arm and age. Who projects to be less a future defensive liability, Vargas as the future first baseman or Arcia as the future LF? If Mauer hits, Arcia or Vargas might need to be exchanged for a pitcher at some point.
  19. If Mauer can return to being a good hitter (OPS in the mid to high 800s), we'll have a great problem on our hands. If the 2014 Mauer is the Mauer of the future, he could really muck things up. Long-term, I'd rather see Sano or Mauer in the outfield than Arcia. If Mauer doesn't improve, I think the Twins have to face up to future without him. Sano must have the athleticism to adjust to the outfield.
  20. Mine is a Starter brand mostly polyester. Stitched on "Carew". Stitched on "Twins" across the front. There's no sponsor and the Twins logo seems to be put on wrong -- it is almost perfectly horizontal instead of more diagonal. Doesn't look like it was a giveaway item.
  21. Really enjoyed this. Thanks! I found a Carew Twins jersey a few years ago in a Goodwill in Iowa. I've wondered if it is the real deal or a reasonable facsimile of the type of jersey you got that day.
