  1. Let's go Polo, rope one into the corner
  2. Time to break through this inning
  3. Looked like Sonny called that last pitch. Diaz wasn't looking for it so good call
  4. Oof. Royce not even close to contact
  5. There we go Kep. Still very much in the game
  6. I think Wallner's at bats have looked better than Kirilloff's, though neither has gotten the results yet.
  7. I definitely got the impression that AJ knew what he was doing as a player being a heel, to the pro wrestling point. You liked him if he was on your team but couldn't stand him as an opponent, and I think getting under the other team's skin was often very much the point.
  8. I think there will be a re-shuffling of the lineup on Tuesday, I'll be interested to see how it lands. I thought batting Correa in the 6 spot against RHP made perfect sense after the season he had, but it looks like he's back now. Who is batting behind him as a deterrent to walking him? Probably the simplest change would be Correa to 3rd behind Julien and Polanco then probably followed by Kepler and Lewis. I would make a case for using Polanco, who has been a solid postseason performer himself, behind Correa. Not sure if you move Correa all the way up to #2 or just swap Kepler and Polanco. I think my lineup would be: Julien, Kepler, Corrrea, Polanco, Lewis, Wallner, Kirilloff, Jeffers, Taylor. Could potentially start Willi in center and bat him 8th ahead of Jeffers for maximum offense too.
  9. I would feel fine about facing Verlander on short rest in game 4. There may have been some rust after an extended rest for game 1, so it's possible he finds his mechanics early and dominates. But the Twins had good at bats in Game 1, and a 40 year old Verlander on short rest is pretty unlikely to be at his peak. Certainly I think they'd have a better shot against Urquidy and the bullpen, but the difference might not be as huge as it sounds on paper.
  10. Curious what you are looking at that makes you think Ryan is definitively better. Personally I think it's very close, and there aren't really any stats where Ryan has vastly outperformed for his MLB career, and several where Ober has a slight edge. Ryan throws a little harder with the fastball, and I would say it has gotten slightly better results, but Ober's fastball has also been pretty effective for him, and thus far, his secondaries have been more consistently good than Ryan's. Ryan might be better, but so far I don't really see anything that makes a clear case for that.
  11. Winning those 2 against Toronto definitely exorcised some demons for us Twins fans. But beating the defending World Champs in their home stadium is another kind of win, that we really haven't seen in a long time. That one was really fun.
  12. Alright, fine recovery by Stewart. Alvarez still a problem but that's why they score the insurance runs.
  13. That's a decent reason. Who gets the 9th? Jax, Pagan?
  14. Stewart to Duran? No reason not to use the best guys probably.
  15. I don't think so. Didn't get a good break
  16. A years worth of watch Correa ground into double plays and strikeout in big spots is finally fading away. Finally starting to love seeing him come to the plate.
  17. Pablo! Set up empty bases for Alvarez again too
  18. I mean, same situation: https://www.closecallsports.com/2019/08/joe-wests-pittsburgh-rundown-obstruction.html Ump maybe should have called it anyway
  19. Yeah that's a run if he just stays in the base path and makes contact
  20. Should they have challenged for interference on Maldonado? Lewis had to run around him and he didn't have the ball
  21. Chased Valdez in the 5th. That's fantastic
  22. Lewis running harder in today's game. Hopefully that's cleared by Rocco and the training staff. But good to see if so.
