  1. Because even the best hitters in the game on hot streaks still do things like that half the time
  2. Needed that first inning. Time to build a little momentum
  3. Dangerous pitch but he got Bregman underneath. Hopefully his fastball has a bit of extra life
  4. Finally kept Altuve off base in the first. I'll take it
  5. Phillies fans mocking the braves by doing their own rendition of the tomahawk chop
  6. If they need someone early (like 4th or 5th inning) to pitch to Alvarez and Tucker I would go to Paddack who has a really good changeup and reverse splits. That could be the first pitching change.
  7. I definitely agree with Kirilloff. Hasn't worked the count, and has fouled off fastballs down the middle and just rolled over on other pitches. Wallner is harder to judge because Ks are always part of his game. I think he's been better at working the count, but ultimately he's just been whiffing on breaking stuff too much. Watching Jeffers I genuinely do think he's having good at bats. You can't scout a statline in such a small sample. He had a barrel to dead center and another 110 mph ball almost through the infield today. And two hits off Verlander. I honestly think he's taken better at bats than Lewis, Lewis has just ambushed a few pitches, which speaks to his talent. I would have expected Vazquez to be a defensive replacement by now at some point, but I still feel much better with Jeffers in the lineup.
  8. It's been a decent postseason run, but now it's time to see if this team can respond to adversity. Need more than half the lineup to show up, and need Ryan to avoid the long ball somehow. This would be a good time for the young core to really show up. Hopefully they've learned a little from the postseason experience so far.
  9. Well why do you dislike Jeffers so much? I watched him have a really good season this year. And I watched him take pretty good at bats this postseason. Better than many of the other young guys. He only got two hits but the process has been fine. Pretty much every comment you've made in the game threads has just been ripping on him.
  10. I get that Jeffers stole your gf or insulted your mother or something. What I don't get is what you saw from Vazquez this season that makes you think he's better. He was brutal at the plate this season.
  11. Tried to be optimistic, but kind of ready to call this one with the shutdown relievers in for Houston now. Need to see the team respond to the situation tomorrow. I still like their chances with Pablo vs Verlander in game 5.
  12. Maeda actually looking better after the first first few hitters
  13. Finally. Just a few more of those
  14. Maeda has not looked good in this series. Might rather have Paddack or Varland
  15. Good at bats to get into RBI situations, then they are just pressing to make something happen
  16. Really bad time to start expanding the zone
  17. Cmon Kep, really need something here
  18. Eddie still an on base machine. I really think being a disciplined, patient hitter is a key to postseason success. Hopefully the other young guys are paying attention to Julien
  19. Nice job by Pagan. Offense has been bad at giving Sonny run support. Maybe they can score now
  20. Didn't think he could get on top of the fastball. They were right but it took a lot of them.
