  1. People have been complaining all season about the space Haley is taking up on the roster given his inability to be a useful RP option. I suspect he was headed back to Boston regardless, so I'm not sure Recker cost us Haley. The Twins wanted Busenitz up instead, and that I'm fine with... Personally, this tells me that Giminez's time with the Twins is coming to an end, whether he's being traded for a lotto ticket himself or simply released for Garver, I think the Twins are ready to give Garver his shot and need an acceptable backup in case he fails.
  2. This. I'd rather send Colon to the pen when Santiago returns then sending Mejia to AAA.
  3. I wonder if they are trading Giminez to call up Garver. Not losing sleep over this one. Liked Ynoa, but he's got a long way to go.
  4. OK guys, what's for dinner? I'm grilling cedar planked salmon and asparagus.
  5. He's strung enough of these types of starts together to make you wonder if he has potential. Given how bad the rotation is, I wouldn't be surprised if he got called up once the Colon experiment is done for good. BTW, for the record he's 6-10. He's another one of those really tall long armed guys in the Alex Meyer mold that we tend to get a bit scared of.
  6. So if there was a pitching match to get Santana out of Minnesota, I wonder if the Pirates have soured enough on Glasnow to flip him for help now. He's a top prospect with a high ceiling, ML ready, but simply hasn't put it together at the major league level. Just a thought if Pitt was to decide to buy.
  7. Probably worth noting that BABIP does not count home runs...
  8. I seem to remember some speculation due to some paper that Neil Allen wrote that the Twins pitching prospects may have a back to the drawing board year. I'm beginning to wonder if that is why so few pitchers have been promoted. Gonsalves certainly looks as though he should be, but I wonder if they are placing a lot more emphasis on things like locating your FB...
  9. For all the talk about the playoffs being a crapshoot, the reality is that this team has 20 MLBers on it's 25 man roster and the missing 5 are all pitchers. Garcia may be average, but an average starter is of considerable value. Burdi wasn't a name I suspected given the surgery, but I'd probably be willing to part with him for a rental. We have plenty of RP talent in the high minors, and while it's been frustrating to see it, Burdi has been one of the most frustrating given how often he seems to get hurt.
  10. colored... not sure... coloured... possibly.
  11. Your first 3 and Garver are on my No list, but it's much bigger than that. No to Palacios, Blankenhorn, Rortvedt, Thorpe, etc. Palka or Sleegers though are guys I would be fine parting with, especially for a 2 month rental of what is at best an average pitcher.
  12. I'd be fine with JRM or Navaretto.. Garver or Rortvedt though.... no way. Problem is that I highly doubt ATL would want those two. Stewart, Jorge, Granite, Wade (that one would hurt but ultimately I'd accept that), Sleegers. All of those guys I'd be fine shipping off.
  13. I'm not understanding the concern about who leaked it. Reality is this. It is the Atlanta GM's job to shop offers and get the best possible one. That was going on regardless of whether or not the press found out.
  14. He was an HS draftee too, so he's young (22), a good defender, and young for his league. Interestingly enough, his bat was considered to be his most promising asset. Definitely a prospect in that sense, but not one that I see the Twins really missing so to speak either. Garver should be in long term plans, and Rortvedt has a very high ceiling. JRM would certainly be one I'd jettison as well. Personally though, JRM or Navaretto seems a bit too lite of a return, especially if Atlanta is sending someone back as well. I just don't see it being either of them, and that is a bit more concerning to me.
  15. Navarretto was the guy pulled last night. I'd be perfectly fine if it was him. I'm not sure the Twins should be trading catchers, but that's a different issue.
  16. He's on the bubble for me. There's not really room for him, but he is likely one we'd regret losing.
  17. I get that, but my hope there was that Ks from FTM last year would return in AA. They haven't. He's had injury issues and this year, he's started walking guys at a high rate (technically this started last year when he got bumped to AA). I get the potential, but at this point, I don't think the Twins can fix him. I have no desire to pick up a rental for anything expensive. If Stewart was the price I paid, that wouldn't bother me much.
  18. Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem at all if it was Stewart.
  19. yeah, personally I'd say no on Garver, Blankenhorn, Thorpe and Kirilloff. The rest would be fine I think.
