  1. I don't see any way we score more than once this game. Opening day loss, I'm guessing.
  2. Morneau already making excuses for the so-called offense. Go figure.
  3. However, they have a much better offense than we do, especially when healthy.
  4. Right. Our "clutch" hitting appears to be in mid-season form already. Sigh!
  5. Defense, I believe, is likely to be a problem all over the field this season, except for Center when Buxton is playing. Most of it probably won't even be considered even MLB-average at most positions. A pretty sad state of affairs all the way around.
  6. Could he eventually become at least a somewhat competent first baseman and be able to somewhat hit like one? Sure, he could. What is the likelihood it'll play out that way? I wouldn't bet that it's very high. That being said, it's certainly worth a try, given that his outfield defense is supposedly nothing special. As long as we exhibit enough patience with the experiment, then there's probably nothing significant to lose in trying.
  7. Yawn. Just fiddling around on the fringes of a very uninspiring bullpen, as it now stands.
  8. It doesn't matter how much we spend on players, if you can't develop or improve them at a decent rate, you'll never attain consistent and long-term success. For example, we can't develop decent MLB-caliber hitters and fielders at all. Regarding pitchers, that's still an unanswered question, IMO. That's an organizational problem, not an ownership problem.
  9. High likelihood we'll be out of contention well before June 1. Possibly even before April is over.
  10. Lots of viable options for that. Any of the offseason middle infield waiver claims, or Julien, would be good choices. Other options also exist.
  11. Even though he's clearly not what he once was in his previous tenure, I think we could have done a lot worse, especially at a price of about $2M.
  12. My response is that nothing is likely to change by any measurable extent. So far, that point has held serve.
  13. Not that I disagree with your premise, but I sure hope you don't trust Falvey to be able to do that! I certaintly don't. Saving money on the roster rules the roost here, not baseball ability.
  14. It's another example of Pohlads being Pohlads, with Falvey being the proxy on the operations side of the house.
  15. Provided that it's primarily for AAA depth, with an opportunity to pitch in the Twins bullpen if he shows enough, I wouldn't be opposed to this thought. That being said, I doubt that it would actually happen, for several reasons. And even more doubtful that such a signing would play out that way.
