Bottom of the 1st and I feel fairly confident in predicting that this game is already over. Hard to imagine we'll score even twice, let alone at least four.
Sigh!
Problem is that we need a whole lot more offensive help than Wallner and Buxton.
After a third of the season, I can safely conclude that this team will only go as far as its pitching will carry it. This offensive just isn't good enough to win very many games on its own.
To put it very kindly.
The only good thing that happened was McCusker getting his 1st MLB hit. Good for him. Otherwise, a big nothing burger.
That kind of game is going to make the cross-country flight to Seattle seem even longer than it already is.
While I don't disagree, the problem is what infielder do we have in the organization who would be noticeably better, offensively and/or defensively? I'd be hard-pressed to think of even one.
The bats should be well rested for the Tampa opener, being that they basically couldn't be bothered to even show up today.
When are we going to get a right-handed hitter or two that's even semi-competent against a lefty? Or any pitcher for that matter.
