  1. The Vikings are the most recent example of what happens if you change personnel in management and operate together as a team. With the Twins, it's not even evident that Molitor and Ryan are on the same page. But the bottom line is clear and easily seen. Twenty years of the Ryan administration is enough. And I include the Bill Smith era, because Ryan was listed as a special advisor, Smith was his hand picked successor, and no one in there right mind could believe Smith did anything to serious with out running it by his mentor first. Twenty years winning some titles in a crappy division, getting embarrassed by teams in the other divisions, especially the East, and exiting the playoffs, generally with our tail firmly tucked somewhere. It's enough! How anyone who is a supposed baseball guru, "one of the most respected men in the game" could put this DH laden lineup on the field and expect to win with a low SO staff boggles the mind. ENOUGH ALREADY!
  2. There are a lot of things said here that are correct about Arcia. And I imagine some that aren't. But this is irrefutable. He has not been handled like the other players have been. Last year when he went to Rochester Ryan announced the suddenly new Injury Recovery Protocal. (IRP). Under the IRP players sent our for rehab not only would have to prove they are healthy, they would have to produce before they were returned to the AAAA team. For whatever reason the IRP was instituted, analyzed, and discarded almost immediately. It must have been, since no other player was ever subjected to it. Apparently Arcias inclusion was not only exclusive, it was forgotten, as he was. When you don't treat your players with consistency, you end up with what the Twins appear to have. Unmotivated, and at times virtually selfish play. Brought on by the knowledge that for some there are no consequences.
  3. Ryan apparently has/had determined that Vargas, Arcia, ABW, et al were not going to cut it at DH. But then Hunter saved the team the embarrassment of signing a 41 year old OF on a rebuilding team. What if he had not? I think that you would have seen the Sano Experiment anyway. Remember, they did not want Sano DH'ng full time. A rare agreement between me and Ryan. I imagine the story line would have been the legendary Twins OF'er mentoring Sano to replace him whilst splitting time between RF and DH. If Ryan didn't trade Plouffe in the current situation, he sure would not of if Hunter came back. Torri screwed this all up by retiring, and Ryan saw Park as likely both a lottery ticket he could bid on, and while unlikely to succeed, have the annual "we were in it to the end on the guy" presser. Sadly for the Twins we got our man. This whole thing is like a house of cards that collapsed. But what was the first card pulled? It almost has to be that Ryan really believed in 2015. All the decisions made seem to point to that. I waffle on the BP decision, but remember, TR always thinks he can simply dig around in the dumpster and bring in uncovered jewels for the pen. It's never been a visible priority. Arcia is yet another casualty in this collapse. Ryan cannot bring himself to admit this just needs to be trashed and start with a fresh slate. That the core veterans on this team have been the genisis for years of lost baseball and cannot carry a team anywhere near success. His actions suggest that Dozier, Plouffe, Park and the elite pitching staff will return for another year, as this was simply a blip. Look how well we did in ST. That's the real ceiling for this team!
  4. They seem to have a couple catchers, I think Turner is the other, in MiLB who are MLB ready defensively. Right now we are playing two who aren't, and certainly aren't making up for it with the stick.
  5. Off the top of my head I can come up with at least 25M reasons!
  6. That is an extremely logical, well thought out caveat. Unfortunately Terry missed that day in economics. When he hands out money he is going to get his money's worth. Nolasco has had I don't know 50 starts. Pelfrey. Hughes. Plouffe. And so forth. Terry has a different definition of "gets your money's worth" than I do! . Some make fun of the use of the term Twins Way! But it's not just a slogan. Maybe it should be change to Twins Personna? Because there are players who do not fit their profile, and regardless of stats or production, they are not going to be here. In the same token, those who do are pretty well set for a long, if not productive MLB career.
  7. That is an extremely logical, well thought out caveat. Unfortunately Terry missed that day in economics. When he hands out money he is going to get his money's worth. 8. And don't forget, we get to keep the vaunted Robbie Grossman. Yet another important cog in La Machine. Good for Oswaldo. I hope he holds up somewhere and does well.
  9. An outfielder with pop? But can't overshadow his defense? You are correct sir. There have never been any of those in MLB. . If Robbie Grossman can get a gig, Arcia will get a couple also.
  10. Two points. 1. Park is still here because if he gets sent down its an admission that this was not a great idea. I never saw the difference between ABW and Park. Huge hitters in inferior leagues with a ton of SO's. 2. If the FO and Molitor don't like demonstrative players they better get out of the Carribean. Baseball is played differently there. That's not bad, it's not good, it's different. And it ain't Twins Way compatible.
  11. TwinsWorld. Where raw energy and passion are considered inappropriate.
  12. If the player don't fit, the front office should (a)quit
  13. And when Sano comes back? Then what. They just keep running from the Sano/Park fiasco. And Rosario is starting to tear it up in AAA. Then what. Trade him, or Kepler so they can keep Plouffe? Polanco? Sink or swim, I hope Oswaldo gets a chance somewhere to settle in, he didn't here. And I think that is an underdiscussed aspect of the team. Players see things, they see some players treated as untouchable, no matter what they do, and others rested completely differently. They notice this. It's one of two things a manager can handle. The other is putting players in a position to succeed. Then it's up to the player. Nunez at SS regularly will be the next example of this!
  14. We don't have an Arcia problem anymore. I know they cannot keep everyone and Santana lends more flexibility. But that as positive as I can get. This FO just flits from move to move reacting almost entirely on injury based decisions. If you cannot see the perfectly placed platoon DH situation you had in front of you all year, a situation which would have helped Park assimilate and Arcia get AB against righties, what are you looking at. They bumbled onto Grossman and that flame is starting to cool. And as an OF he is minimally better than Arcia. With a far worse arm. And the Nunez pumpkin is next. While both performances were outliers, just think of the Twins offense when they stop hitting! Maybe the solo Park Bang every two weeks will carry them one last thought on Oswaldo. He is coming into 2015 expecting to be the RF, then finds out he is the LF has an ok start, gets hurt and Ryan jerks him around so we can parade a 40 yr old OF for the reminiscent demographic. No wonder he couldn't figure it out, they certainly can't.
  15. And apathy in the fan base is about the worst thing that can happen to a sports team.
  16. Catching up on TiVo bunting in the 4th inning WTF
  17. I have two daughters who think just like you. Sheesh I have spent entire winters in shorts T and sweatshirt. Windpants in an emergency. Cold is over rated!
  18. I have two daughters who think just like you. Sheesh
  19. That was rumored for years, but if you carefully watch the show, you will see Lurch has both his hands, making your observation obviously impossible!
  20. There's an old saying in sports, "It's a shame someone had to lose". Watching the Twins and Angels play you could simply change the word 'lose' to 'win'!
  21. . That was not MY stance, it was my wife's! .
  22. Mothers Day: A day when dad takes the kids so mom can have some quality time alone. Fathers Day: A day when dad takes the kids, so he can spend some quality time with his children.
  23. I think it fair to say that Gomez Addams wife distracted more men than Gomez. Little know fact. Gomez Addams is the father of Carlos Gomez. Carlos developed his baseball abilities at a young age playing catch with Thing and his hair from Cousin It!
  24. I am really not sure why he is here. It's been very obvious he isn't in their plans, and hasn't been since Molitor took over. It's a wasted roster spot, and short of anyone else coming up with a viable rationale it could be as simple as Ryan doesn't want to see Ortiz 2. That seems silly, but the Twins rarely PH or platoon. He isn't a defensive replacement, and the investment in money and pride in Park preclude Arcia DH'ing. If they aren't going to send Park down after these past 2 1/2 months, they ain't gonna send him down. Arcia seems like a good teammate, I hope he ends up somewhere and gets a chance, and does well.
