  1. Early reports are this is a done year again but there is still a whole season to play and alot can change.
  2. OMG, how slow is an offseason when we cry and wine about NOT signing something called Joe Saunders. Get a life people. You would have been mad if we did sign him becaus we spent too much. Pessimists are the worst humans on earth and it sucks that I as a Twins fan, am grouped with you.
  3. The reason he hasn't signed is because of the draft pick connected. That is why no one is touching this guy. Next year you will be hoping he turns down your qualifying offer and I have a feeling he will not turn it down. For 20 million, you have to hope that he has a good season, does not get hurt, and that he doesn't accept your qualifying offer of about 14 million. No way is he worth 20 million when we probably have just as good of options in our farm system.
  4. Baseball Prospectus | Prospect Profile: Joe Benson It is a subscription article but I thought it would be good to post it. They also had one a few weeks back about Trevor May and the changing of the Twins drafting and minor league pitching but I can't find that link. Enjoy
  5. Do you know Joe Mauer's payroll is higher than the Astro team payroll? Fact. At least we are not them. We have a pretty good farm system and our roster isn't the worst ever. Mauer, Morneau and Willingham are at least Major leaguers. The Astros are full of AAAA guys who are playing only because you can't forfeit the season and get the number 1 pick.
  6. We have two legit center fielders and no middle infield prospects. The move for Rosario seems pretty self explanatory. His bat will play much better at 2nd than center. Many around baseball also think that sano will end up in the outfield as he may outgrow thirdbase. Rosario definitely provides more value both as a prospect and to the twins organization as a mi guy. That is just my opinion but I will bet most twinsdaily members will agree Rosario needs to stay at 2nd to maximize his value.
  7. I don't know if I agree with that. There are three reasons I feel this way. I think people will tend to agree with me. 1. The Twins rarely push prospects more than one level per season. (There are examples such as Mauer and Arcia last year, but they usually stay in the minors longer than other organizations would keep them, right, wrong or indifferent). 2. Rosario is learning a new position and NEEDS extra time at lower levels to work on footwork. 3. I think the organization will try to keep Sano and Rosario together through minors.
  8. Maybe one could pitch the first 3 innings and one pitch the 4-7th.
  9. Minus trading a first division catcher for a soft throwing closer.
  10. His point is more than fair...people get so mad and want to fire the whole front office. If we fire gardy and tr...they would be out of a job for 15 minutes. Sometimes bad stuff happens like injuries and such. The ship is being righted as speak. Spending money is not the problem. Do u think that Browns fans are happy with the firing of bill belichic. Im sure they were all calling for his head when they "only GOT to the playoffs." How many sulerbowls have the browns been to since they fired him...none compared to only 5 for pats. Be patient with the braintrust. They will fix things and be competitive by 2014
  11. I know it is early but sure do hope that daft offers up FOUR can't miss draft picks. We keep talking about the 3 pitchers but we pick fourth. There are a couple of toolsy Georgia outfielders who are pretty good. Hopefully one of those teams in front of us picks one of them so we can get our hands on one of the top pitchers. I would really like Manaea because he is a lefty and isn't a Boras client (I don't think anyway). If Appel is there I think we have to take him and pay him over slot. He may be the best of the bunch and could be to the majors by 2015.
  12. Ok, you crossed the line of affendment when you call out Nick Punto. Nick is waiting for an apology as he slides into first.
  13. Uh-oh, this kid seems nice, but he has a pizza-face and do you guys know what that is a side-effect of...STEROIDS. Great we got Roger Clemens minus the talent coming in here juicin' up the place.
  14. Like Frodaddy G's Mom for instance?
  15. Wait a second, so you are telling me, that when I am 40, I will be less athletic than I was at 20. I think you are in line for a noble peace prize for this astonishing discovery. Congratulations!
  16. 6-4 230 and growing. This guy should be going into his Sophmore year playing OLB/DE hybrid for the Alabama Crimson Tide. This guy needs to be a football player instead. Clowney who? This guy is going to be 6-5 250 and freakishly cut. If he doesn't pan out for the Twins I know a team that could use a pass rusher across from an all-pro DE in the same town.
  17. But the nats had to suck first to build a young core. They did supplement their core with werth and edwin jackson. I agree they may not be the best example but we r were they were before they started signing free agents. The twins lineup is going to be worse than it was last year with even worse defense. TR, imo, is building for 2015. Payroll will be wide open even next year. These bargain bin pitchers he has been signing are not for the fans. He is building a strong farm system and signing affordable guys to eat innings. He did pretty well with his signings last year and he will be the busiest gm at tbe trade deadline building for...you guessed it, 2015.
  18. This is a dumb argument. How often does a team other than the Yankees use Free Agency to win a World Series. The way to build a competitive team is to draft well and trade well. Terry Ryan built a winner before. He will do it again. Spending ton of money on FA's is not the way you build a winner. Even with the top guys on the market, we would still suck for at least the next two seasons. The Rays and Nationals did things the right way. Suck for long enough, stock, restock, and restock your farm system, and develop young players. I have a feeling that the money will be spent when the team is competitive again. The situation was so bad when Ryan took over, that he set out on a 4-5 year plan and will not sway from that.
  19. As a fellow north Dakotan I am a little put off by your smartass tone. International signing day is I believe july fourth and I am pretty sure that is when the signing year starts. Also, the new cap system gives teams with the worst records the most money to spend. If this kid is younger I say no dice. Dont waste cap on an older kid.
  20. We already spent most of our international spending cap. We signed that minier kid from Dominican and I believe a pair of aussie kids. I dont even think we have 1 mil in int. Cap room. I like the idea but my guess is tsyoshi is still in the minds of the front ooffice
  21. Rosario is still an outfield possibility as well although he AND Sano look more like 2015 at the earliest.
  22. Braves get a steal. Not just a good contract for a 5 tool guy, but I feel like they gave up little. They are going for it this year. Delgado is a 4/5 maybe a 3 if he reaches his ceiling and even most people don't think that is true. I think the Diamondbacks are crazy. You have now given up two top level talents for a bag of nothing (actually the Santana trade brought back nothing). I do think this will go down as a very lopsided trade and the Braves have to be an early pick to challenge the Nationals for the National league Pennant.
  23. I haven't heard sano and "sound defensively" in the same sentence before. I hope he is right and he sure has the arm. Hopefully another full season will help his footwork.
  24. Reading this article just makes me want to go punch Reggie Jackson in the face. How could he think that Kirby wasn't a hall of famer? Mr. October is a complete ****ing idiot. Kirby was a better player than Reggie ever could have been. Kirby never took plays off. He was unselfish as a baseball player (homelife not so much) as Reggie was a selfish, homerun or strikeout kind of douch we need to rid ourselves of in the baseball world.
