  1. unless he is in top 3?
  2. Meyer @ 28. Rosario missed the cut. Didn't he make it last year?
  3. The NFL has by far the best system with revenue sharing and a hard salary cap. Hopefully after Bud leaves next season, some 20th century ideas will be established in baseball that make the game more watchable. I struggle to watch games where the Yankees infield (in the past) has made more money than the bottom 4 teams in the AL Central. Every few years I get more and more disgusted with Major League Baseball. Why should the small market teams have to tear it down and be "shrewd" with signings, when the Yankees can make mistake after mistake and never rebuild. They spent almost half a billion dollars this year...if it doesn't work, they will spend half a billion next year. Teams like the Dodgers and the Yankees need to held accountable for their uber-mistakes, and a hard cap would do that. Perhaps then, MLB would be able to compete with the NBA and NFL.
  4. Baseball Prospectus does not rank. If they did, the Twins would be 1, and then a long fall to number 2. BA has not released their official list, but will undoubedly have the Twins in the top 3 (and probably #1). The team is loaded and unless your "periodicals" are the Houston Chronicle or the Chicago Tribune
  5. I hate to hear the "trade Duensing for value" argument. Duensing has NO value for other teams. For 2 mil, why not keep him, but you aren't going to trade him for a top 30 prospect in another system. Just because a guy has a good salary, doesn't mean teams are going to give up "value" (and I assume by value you mean prospects) for him.
  6. More kidnappings in that part of the country? Wilson Ramos anyone?
  7. And he's LEFT HANDED...he is tall and built...and left handed. He allegedly has a great feel for pitching is a pretty bright mate...and did I mention he is LEFT HANDED. I want to do dirty, possibly illegal things to his scouting report. P.S. This should not be deleted for being inappropriate because this dude is the real deal (albeit in a SSS)
  8. Lets not forget the chance that Sano ends up in Right with the mixed reviews at 3rd and the cannon arm. His bat will play anywhere. Most scouting reports I've read said he may be able to stay at 3rd but there is always a chance. Still, I think you hang on to Hicks because the talent is there and even as a 4th outfielder he has value. Franklin would be redundant at 2nd and can't play SS. I would guess Miller is unavailable. NO Thank you.
  9. Seems Rob would be one of the youngest GM's in the league correct?? The thing I like about Rob is that he seems to be pretty blunt in interviews. That is just my opinion. As far as the TR argument goes, maybe some could start a thread about how they hate threads being hijacked...and quit bit chin' about it in every thread (which ironically is hijacking threads)
  10. Don't mean to be a pest but...what is the timeline on the E-books? I have my card in hand and will checking back every 2-3 minutes. Very excited.
  11. YES!!! I know his value is in the power but that arm is supposedly legit. What he loses in foot speed he gains in arm. Now I just need to hear an update on Byron's shoulder
  12. How do we know "management" isn't mentioning this already? Should they call a press conference every time someone misses a winter ball game?
  13. My gut says Arroyo for a 3rd a year. I hope I'm wrong. Also, could the Twins waive someone from the 40 if they decide to take someone in the rule 5?
  14. F ya I'd go 5 years. By the time we need to extend our new aces these old farts will be gone. Our pitching is so suspect there is no need not to give these guys what they want. Hell if we sign Garza and Drew, we might be contenders for a wildcard spot. Imagine being a team contending for a playoff spot w/ the best farm system in the game. That sounds pretty sweet to me.
  15. They will now lead the league in HRs, SOs, and Beerleague softball allstars. Nice!!
  16. If we are going to surrender a draft pick, I for one, would prefer one of the pitchers like tied to draft pick comp. I am not completely against an upgrade at SS which Drew most definitely would be. Also could we have had Brett Anderson for that return, geez the hot stove is fluid during the winter meetings.
  17. If only baseball were played on paper...you might have a point. Too bad it isn't. Getting two (or maybe 3) better pitchers will add wins but the offense is still terrible. I think we under-rate the move for Nolasco and underrate how important KC is to this rotation. Having a fresh bullpen is a big deal and having someone "eat innings" has more value than our +/- WAR/WARP Drive computer calculator outputs (thank you Millennium Falcon)
  18. One rumor by an unreliableish source and a bash...can we bring back the dislike button? Would be an upgrade in center...which is saying nothing but could hold center for next season and a half.
  19. 3 smartasses, including me. Latroy will give up the most for sure
  20. Like! I love hindsight moves like "we should have traded Hendricks when he had all the value (according to no one ever) for proven All-Stars when we had the chance, dangit..." Why not trade Parmalee and Hendricks and a bunch of other barely AAAA players for a proven vet. Terry Ryan should be fired because of that #stoppostingtradeideas
  21. I just heard from one of my sources, Pinto has decided he no longer wants to catch. This is breaking news. Too much wear and tear and afraid of concussions.
  22. We needed pitching when we drafted Buxton. Every organization would say they could use more pitching, it has always been important. I don't want to be that guy saying "Take the Best Player available," but I'll bite. WE NEED TO TAKE THE PLAYER WITH THE HIGHEST TO FLOOR RATIO. I don't care if it is SS, pitching, or OF. If you think an outfielder has a chance to be the best of the bunch…take him. I would rather have an abundance of A/B level OF prospects than a Kevin Gausman or the best pitcher on the board. Pitchers have a high level of flame out and a high level of Tommy Johnness. Now, I am not against taking a pitcher number 5, I am simply stating that an OF or even 1b/C option is not out of the question. P.S. I hope that Beede finds some command this season because I loved that guy out of high school and think he still has all the makings of an ace.
  23. WT-heck is going on with these deals today. This might be the craziest day in a long time.
  24. Why would that trade work? My guess is with the A's need for a bullpen arm, it would take a Burton plus a B prospect or Perkins with a return of Anderson and a C level prospect. I know its a fantasy game and I don't know what I am talking about. Even with their recent trade to `jgfdsjdhfjgssdfghshdssrtesrgshdgfjdhgg;hhkl;;lk
