  1. Barkley is so good
  2. I want Buffalo-Philly. I think that will be a great Super Bowl. I also used to live in Philly and love/hate it but the match-up would be really, really good. I think it will be ... Buffalo-Philly.
  3. I'm coming back to this a week late but I really think that Stafford and Purdy are the same guy, just one is ten years older than the other. Their stat lines are incredibly similar over the last three years as well, with Purdy arguably being a bit better, also going 4-2 in the playoffs, with one loss being when he got hurt right away. I think there is this feeling that elite QBs are a "know it when I see it" thing - and, in some cases, that could be true. But I think systems, coaching, and teammates are far more important than we acknowledge. I suspect Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams both look a lot different if they had switched teams on draft day.
  4. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43511119/nfl-dallas-cowboys-brian-schottenheimer-jerry-jones-mike-mccarthy I don't actually hate this hire as much as I thought I would, which, I suppose, is a bummer. Hiring Schottenheimer, if your highest paid QB wants him, makes sense. And, while McCarthy took play calling duties, Schottenheimer was the play caller on some teams that did better than they should have, so he's not an idiot. He also has been under a bunch of good coaches so probably knows how to build a staff - he's already rumored to bring in Eberfus as his DC. Dallas' biggest problem is the owner and he won't be able to do anything about that. But it looks like he has the buy-in of his most important player and is smart enough to bring in someone like Eberfus to replace Zimmer. That's not a bad starting spot. Still, nepo-hire.
  5. I think a lot, but not all, of the new "dumb" can be traced to the owners of those teams inserting themselves into the team more than they had before. I'm not sure if that's a reflection of society and billionaires right now - "you are so smart!" - or just a coincidence. But the idea that a simple trade for a WR could be vetoed by the owner over a Madden rating is stupid.
  6. Raiders hire Pete Carroll. Wow. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43547026/sources-pete-carroll-agrees-3-year-deal-coach-raiders He's 73, but I'm not sure it's actually a bad hire. I think he'll bring professionalism to the team, which it needs desperately.
  7. Video of the Coen hiring process.
  8. I would say if we got Smith and one of the other two lineman, I'd be more than thrilled.
  9. Jones can be surprisingly stubborn and this feels like a Jones hire. So he might let him stay longer than normal. But I don't think it's a good hire. They need outside voices.
  10. I don't even know which thread to put this in but I checked and apparently the #1 pick in next years draft is supposed to be Arch Manning. I don't follow college football that much but I assume there are a lot of owners who would love to have a Manning at QB, especially since this draft is a bit shallow at QB. I'm not sure if this would make a tag and trade for Darnold more likely - get a bridge QB now - or hurt - don't want to win more than 3 games.
  11. Well, as if I needed another reason to root for them.
  12. Very good news.
  13. Doesn't sound like Flores is a finalist for the Jags. https://www.bigcatcountry.com/2025/1/6/24337575/2025-jaguars-head-coach-hiring-process-homepage That said, maybe they'll announce more second round interviews.
  14. This makes sense.
  15. Mostly this. I hate those plays where Mahomes fakes a slide and the defender lets up or when he slows at the sideline, wanting a hit and a flag. Even if it's legal, it rubs me the wrong way. I think the NFL needs to reconsider both the QB out of the pocket rules and the fumble rules. The Stafford pass got enough people upset that I think this is somewhat likely to actually happen. Not sure about letting QBs get hit.
  16. he's the next Scott Linehan.
  17. Tough loss
  18. That was brutal
  19. Can't disagree more
  20. I thought that was offensive pass interference. It'll be Buffalo/KC. Refs won't let Baltimore win this
  21. If mahomes was tackled out of bounds like that, there would have been a flag
  22. I think Buffalo is just a little bit better on defense and that'll make the difference. Also, it feels like this is the year Allen knocks out Mahomes.
  23. I spoke too soon
  24. That's the game
  25. Sure it wasn't a forward pass? (I'm not bitter)
