  1. It's not a bad depth move and he will play a lot on special teams, as well.
  2. The Bengals ponied up a lot of money but kept both Higgens and Chase. I did not think they would do that. They are now paying the QB, WR1, WR2 over 100m/season for the next four years. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44287720/nfl-contract-bengals-jamarr-chase-tee-higgins-joe-burrow
  3. There are two pretty solid safeties that could be there at 24 - Nick Emmanwori and Malaki Starks. Both seem like good fits for Flores' scheme. I think with the nice moves we've seen, the Vikings could go a lot of ways in the draft.
  4. 49ers SBNation site doesn't like the trade. Good sign.
  5. I'm not sure this precludes is from taking a rb in the 3rd, depending on how things shake out. Jones could be a one year thing and cut. Not a huge cap penalty. Mason is underrated but getting a home run back to pair with him isn't unreasonable. But with DL and CB options, you're probably right.
  6. Vikings trade for RB Mason. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2025/3/15/24386849/vikings-trade-with-49ers-for-rb-jordan-mason I really liked Mason when we've seen him, he's definitely a bigger back. He also signed a 2 year/7m contract with the Vikings. Gave up the 6th we got for Ingram and the Vikes and 49ers switched picks 160 and 187.
  7. I think this is a bit overstated. Sure, the 2022 draft was bad but Nailor was our #3 receiver last year, Ingram made a bunch of starts, Cine never developed but also had an incredibly damaging ankle injury. It's not quite the horror show people seem to think. And when Cine went down, they took UFA Theo Jackson from the Titans practice squad. I don't know why Booth and Evans didn't work out. in 2023 we got - 1st - Addison 2nd - traded for Hockenson 3rd - Blackmon - jury still out but had a good rookie season and was supposed to break out. 4th - Ward who has become, if nothing else a pretty good special teams player. They also got Pace as an UFA. Last year we drafted our starting QB in McCarthy, Turner, our kicker, some depth for the OL and DL and also nabbed UFA Redmond. If you want to say it's too early to know on those guys then it's also too early to bury them. I know KAM made some changes in the draft room and the Strib reported that the scouting staff really enjoyed working with Flores (who was a scout for the Patriots for five years) to figure out who to target. But considering the crap shoot of draft picks and the injuries some of them have hd, I don't think there's anything here to really support the extreme angst about KAM's drafts.
  8. Yeah, I completely forgot he was on the books either way. Big brain fart on my part.
  9. Not thrilled that Smith is back. He looked really slow at the end of the year and was really bad in the two losses to close it out. I think he's just done. If we treat him like we did Studwell's last year - he gets the start but most of the playing time goes to someone else - that's one thing. But I don't think we should expect him to be an above average player at this point.
  10. I'd rather they gave up a draft pick to get Mullins back than have Aaron Rodgers on this team.
  11. A few thoughts on the draft. 1) If QB Dart is still there at #24, teams are going to call the Vikes to trade back to get him. But he might fly up draft boards and get taken in the teens. 2) The CB I really like - Barron - isn't likely to be there at 24. I haven't seen a mock where he gets past the Packers. 3) Alabama's big guard - Booker - seems to be falling in mocks lately. The rip on him before the combine was that he was going to be slow in run blocking and not great at the second level. And then he had a bad combine so might actually fall out of the first round. But he's apparently a physical monster in pass protection. We could do worse, I think.
  12. No one has signed Asante Samuel. I thought he'd be a good fit in Flores scheme. https://www.nfl.com/news/top-101-nfl-free-agents-of-2025-who-are-the-best-players-available
  13. Wow, great click bait. No, he's not a legitimate candidate for a Cy Young.
  14. The money we've paid is still being calculated. Murphy was reported as a 3/66 but it's actually a 3/54. Allen was reported as 3/60 but it's actually 3/51. etc. So the Vikings still have over 41m to play with for this upcoming season (minus Hargrave).
  15. Of this list, I think Mariota is the guy I'd go with. He won't expect to start like Wilson and Rodgers will. He's a solid vet who can hold up as needed but not wear out his welcome.
  16. Kansas City signing CB Fulton for 2/20m. I was really hoping we would nab him.
  17. I think we overpaid a little for Murphy but I'm ok with that, the CB market is exploding and I'm ok rewarding players we already have. I thought Kelly and Rodgers would have been slightly higher anyway, so it probably is close to even, at least in my mind. The DL might actually be a strength now, especially if Redmond takes another step forward. Murphy, Rodgers, Blackmon, Jackson, and maybe Harrison Smith probably needs to add one more piece - Fulton? - but it's a solid starting point from where we were. (Also, I'm stunned that Holland got less years than Bynum for the same price). The o-line will likely be Darrisaw, Risner, Kelly, Fries, O'Neil with both Ingram and Bradbury as potential depth doesn't seem as weak, either.
  18. Vikes signed DT Allen as well.
  19. Gads, Packers sign Pat Mekari - kind of a swing lineman who can play guard and tackle but not at an elite level - for 3/37m w/20m guaranteed.
  20. On a different site, someone stated that Darnolds' avg yearly value - 33.5m - makes him the 18th highest paid QB in the NFL. I honestly think anything in that tier would have been fair.
  21. Patriots shelled out a 4/102m deal for DL Milton Williams. NFL.com says they outbid the Vikings for Williams.
  22. Bears continuing to win the offseason, as they always do, adding DE Day Odeyingbo. A really nice signing although 3/48 seems a bit steep.
  23. 3 years, 100.5m, with 55m guaranteed. Good luck to Darnold in Seattle! I really enjoyed him this year.
