  1. Yeah. Really, really bad.
  2. So what are folks investing in right now? The market's been pretty resilient with some of the craziness that is happening (to put it mildly). Our big holdings are the basics - index funds and then big bank stocks (WFC, USB), some tech (Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Roku), credit cards (V, AXP) and DE and KO (two really fun stocks to own, actually). We're going to invest a bit soon. Likely, we'll probably re-invest in some of the above but we're also looking at maybe Dr. Pepper, Costco, or Pepsi, which has been beat down a lot.
  3. Yeah, I love football but, man, do I hate the NFL.
  4. I agree. However, I suspect that there is a major athlete ego that most QBs have where they think, "I can turn this team around and win." I'm not sure how much they see bigger picture than that, if that makes sense.
  5. I'm sure Cousins will get roasted for his quotes and this article but I really thought this was a very honest statement about how players look at injuries/playing time/contracts. "The information I had at the time, I made the best decision," Cousins said. "You also know that if you sit down Week 10 and take two or three weeks or more to let it heal, you may never get your job back. I remember reading Drew Brees' book back in 2010 when he first wrote it, how he made the point that he tried to never let his backup see the field -- even if it was somebody who was really no threat. He just felt like you should never do that. Doug Flutie taught him that. "So that was something I always was aware of, that in this league, if you give someone else the chance, if you want to get 'Wally Pipped' and there's Lou Gehrig behind you, that can happen at the time.""
  6. 1) Mason. I think he's going to make the running game a real weapon for us this year. Last year we had trouble converting in obvious running downs and inside the five. Mason - with the new line - should make us a lot better. 2) Honestly, for now, I'm content. Let's see what things look like in the pre-season and/or injuries. The team has some salary cap room and some draft picks if they need to make a move but the defensive front seven look like they should add a lot of pressure which should help the secondary.
  7. Rabbits decimated my garden this year. Had never happened before but this year they ate the tomatoes and peppers.
  8. I think they'll find another depth piece (several, probably) during camps and stealing from other teams practice squads. Kinda of how they got Jackson in the first place. I wouldn't mind another signing but it doesn't seem likely.
  9. I haven't been paying enough attention to this but Cincy seems broken. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45498593/source-shemar-stewart-leaves-bengals-minicamp-amid-contract-dispute
  10. Just saw an article on PFF about how good a run blocker he is and, overall, was their #21 TE last year. I'm not a huge PFF guy but he seems to be a solid player and not eating too much of the cap.
  11. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/cincinnati-bengals-release-team-captain-linebacker-germaine-pratt-after-six-seasons/ Bengals release Germaine Pratt. Pratt would look really good in purple, IMHO. Like Cashman, he's a solid coverage LB. He's probably a bit better than Pace but, in any event, would really give depth to the LB room, which is a bit thin after Cashman and Pace.
  12. Nah, they'll go 11-6 and win a wildcard game this year. Actually, if you squint, you could see a way for them to be even better but I don't like Rodgers.
  13. Former Gopher and 1st round pick Rashod Bateman signed a 3 year extension with the Ravens for 3/36m, basically 12m/season, 20m guaranteed for a receiver who is a solid deep threat but hasn't had a 1000 yard season yet. Addison is quite happy with this. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45456848/source-ravens-give-wr-rashod-bateman-3-year-3675m-extension
  14. I'll ignore most of this but the Vikes made some pretty big changes to the scouting department after the 2023 draft. https://vikingswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/vikings/2023/06/17/minnesota-vikings-finalize-football-operations-personnel-departments-2023-season-kwesi-adofo-mensah/80334722007/ I can't find it now but there was an article in the strib before the 2024 draft about how the scouting staff was working with Flores to ID the types of players who worked in his system. Lots of good quotes in there - Flores was a scout for like 5 years with the Patriots back in the day.
  15. Here's the list - https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/sacks_career.htm Terrell Suggs, John Abraham, Leslie O'Neal, Al Baker and Coy Bacon are at or above him. I think Suggs gets in, the others probably don't.
  16. I hope so. I don't know if Ragnow can be underrated considering his accomplishments but, geez, I'm glad he's gone. Best of luck to him on his retirement, hope his body heals.
  17. Not sure that's fair. We used the 2nd rounder for Hockenson. Using picks for other forms of value shouldn't be ignored. If the 2023 draft if Addison, Hockenson, Blackmon, and a few other guys, it looks a lot better. We used a 6th rounder this year to add RB Mason. That's real value.
  18. I'm glad we got this done. He's done a great job as GM, including hiring KOC and keeping the team competitive while fixing the cap issues. Mostly though, I think the Vikings culture, top-down, is fantastic. Let's keep that together as long as we can.
  19. I think that's about right. I'd also give them props for spending without interfering. We don't get "sign Rodgers, it's good for attendance."
  20. "more evil than we thought" in the healthcare system is a pretty high bar. He crossed it with ease.
  21. Ignoring the tush push itself - which I like more than you - the rule change might have made the game a bit less fun. The proposed rule would have forbidden down field "blocks" by lineman where they push the running back forward, which we've seen a lot and is also a lot of fun (in my view). As to the imbalance, I mean, yeah, you're right. But there is a lot of stuff that is imbalances the game for the offense - the NFL is doing that purposefully. Staffords "incomplete pass" in the playoff game that was really a fumble we returned for a TD is a much bigger problem (again, in my view).
  22. The NFL is still decades in the past. "After Lurie finished speaking, Vincent chastised the Eagles owner for the "wet dream" comment, specifically for saying it in front of women in the meeting." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45254735/sources-tempers-flare-eagles-defend-tush-push-heated-debate
  23. Good. I think it's good for the game. I'm more concerned about BS "arm moving forward, no fumble" calls for QBs.
  24. Guess it bounced back a little this week but, oof. Looking at that 52 week high. Ouch.
  25. Echoing everyone else's thoughts as well and thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry. Just brutal.
