  1. http://deadspin.com/francisco-lindor-redeems-himself-by-obliterating-the-ra-1794061918 I loved this article. First, Lindor is my favorite non-Twin. He's just a superstar. Hits a grandslam in the ninth that makes a cute Rangers fan cry. And, to it off, someone in the comments section found the Cleveland radio guys call and it was completely over the top. Truly enjoyable.
  2. Phil Miller doesn't say anything about a sore hammy so maybe I'm missing TT satire. "Eduardo Escobar is at shortstop, just because Molitor likes to get his bench players some playing time as quickly as possible. Danny Santana will play on Thursday, Molitor said, and Chris Gimenez will catch Ervin Santana in Chicago on Sunday." http://www.startribune.com/escobar-in-the-lineup-as-twins-try-to-go-2-0-for-first-time-in-a-decade/418361593/
  3. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/222075834/where-twins-top-prospects-start-2017-season/?topicid=151437456 Just a quick list. 6 of the Twins top 10 prospects are at AA. Only one is in the majors.
  4. Re: Polanco. Someone on TT suggested his hammy is a bit sore so I'd assume they're letting him rest it today during a wet/rainy afternoon.
  5. I think Escobar is getting the start because 1) it's usually common to let everyone play fairly early in the season 2) he hit righties fairly well. As for Grossman, your other options are D. Santana, back-up catcher and Escobar/Polanco. Grossman can take a walk, if nothing else. Buxton is batting third because he's going to be the Twins best all-around hitter eventually, hopefully starting today. Mauer is batting fourth because Buxton is batting third.
  6. Basically, Kepler moved to the 2 spot, Grossman drops to 9, Polanco is not playing today. I'm glad they didn't jerk Buxton out of the 3 spot after one bad game but I sure hope he starts hitting.
  7. I won't do this everyday but against righties it's: https://twitter.com/LaVelleNeal/status/849628165601468417/photo/1
  8. Anyone holding pharmaceuticals? I put 5500 into my IRA but not sure what I'm going to do with it, mostly wait and see now but I don't have much in health care/pharma so starting to look around a bit in that area.
  9. Agreed. I forget who but someone (Epstein, maybe?) said something like there are a lot of tough decisions in baseball that are right and still don't work out.
  10. Grossman hit lefties really well last year - a .418 OBP (.350 OBP for his career). So if he can continue to harm lefties, the two spot is pretty good.
  11. I imagine Castro will probably catch 120 games and Giminez gets 40. So he's probably more of an everyday guy rather than a platoon guy. But it's just a guess.
  12. The 25 man roster will change and we'll get Park or Vargas up here to eventually take some at bats away from Mauer but I'm not sure this is something to worry about in April. Mauer isn't what he was but he still gets on base and he has hit lefties before. And if he has Buxton in front of him (hopefully on first base) maybe a few of those ground outs to the second baseman sneak through.
  13. I don't hate it. If Dozier and Grossman can get on base, it looks good although Grossman might end up part of a platoon eventually - but he deserves a shot, I suppose. The bottom three makes a pretty tough bottom of the order. Mauer isn't the hitter he was but he should be able to get on base for Sano.
  14. Yeah, I agree. Stewart was the right pick and there's a lot of anger over it. If they miss on the #1 pick, the fans won't forgive.
  15. With him the concerns are height (Berrios 2.0) and mechanics. Honestly, if they got him to sign for underslot, it's not a crazy pick but you'll read a lot about how the Twins drafted another future reliever.
  16. Kind of a nice little article http://deadspin.com/aw-this-career-minor-leaguer-tearing-up-over-making-th-1793880549
  17. http://www.startribune.com/byungho-park-s-demotion-doesn-t-inspire-confidence-in-the-twins/417731593/ Souhan was less kind than Reusse on the Park demotion. "The bosses sent ByungHo Park to the minors, to convene with one of the team’s most promising relievers this spring, Alex Wimmers. Park will star for the Rochester Red Wings in April while Twins manager Paul Molitor tries not to use the pitcher who replaced Park on the big-league roster." That's a fair point about Wimmers. Sure, he's also not on the 40 man but I bet he ends up a bigger bullpen piece than Haley.
  18. 16-13-3 Is there anything that suggests a ST record is an indicator of the regular season record? Anything? Please?

  20. I think the FBI has them dead to rights and is just putting together a case. A so far unverified theory suggests that the FBI has Kushner on the phone at Trump Tower talking with Russian bank officials about investing in the Trump brand. Trump might also be on those tapes. (Hence his outrage about being wire tapped).
  21. If Flynn gets immunity it'll be because he can bring down bigger fish. Trump's done.
  22. I didn't want to sign a guy like Sipp on a 3/18m deal (he sucked last year, by the way). Stop gaps are fine for a bullpen. I don't think you want to spend a lot on relief arms when they are so risky.
  23. I don't have an answer to this. I thought we'd see a back end of the bullpen of Burdi, Perkins, Jepsen, May Chargois and Meyer by last August. (I knew all wouldn't make it but I figured some would). I was really excited about that. Clearly that didn't happen. But that's why I didn't want us to sign a Tony Sipp type. I still don't. And I agree that Chargois should have been on the opening day roster. I hope he forces their hand. But I'm not going to overly worry about the stop gaps while waiting for those younger arms to get here.
