  1. Vikings now have pick #17. I don't think they can go lower than 15, even with a loss next week. Could be wrong.
  2. It's gimmicky and I don't think tanking in the NFL has come close to the level of tanking in mlb or the NBA where it would be needed. The idea of the lottery is to dissuade teams from losing down the stretch.
  3. I hope never
  4. Eagles are tackling really well
  5. I don't see how Philly has five losses. Every time I watch them, they look like the best team in the NFL. Still can't believe the league let Carter drop to the eagles.
  6. Henry passed Dorsett all time. Dorsett had more than I thought, a bit forgotten.
  7. Chargers in playoff form
  8. Houston could win a road playoff game. Chargers might be one and done again.
  9. Raiders trying to tank for #1 - Crosby won't play against the Giants. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47421136/raiders-sit-de-maxx-crosby-game-vs-giants-sources-say
  10. A few thoughts 1) If JJ isn't starting next week, they should let Rypian who they resigned or Wolford start. Brosmer is worse than I expected and might not get Jefferson his yards. 2) I was shocked the Vikings won that game. Detroit needed it and we're starting Brosmer. I know some people are upset that the Vikings won b/c of draft position but I will say that a win like that speaks pretty well about the coaching staff. Man, it was a lot of fun watching the defense crush someone like that. 3) Giving props to some lesser players, Levi Rodriguez has had a nice little season, 43 tackles and 8 TFL while pushing Hargrave and Allen for more playing time and Ward has kinda been what we hoped Theo Jackson would be this year.
  11. That's a fair point. He could say he wants to be traded to Vikings, Packers, Lions, SF, and a few others that are close but need him. That would be nice. Our longterm contracts aren't actually that problematic from a brief view of spotrac.
  12. I love the idea but the Burrow to MN is a pipe dream. There is no way the salary would work - he gets something like 75m/yr soon. And if he were on the block, no one could outbid the Jets but lots of teams could probably put monster packages together for him. Unless we find another Sam Darnold, the Vikings best hope is that McCarthy can stay healthy and develop into a very good QB. I think he can but the injuries worry me.
  13. Damn. That means they should shut him down. He hasn't shown enough that they can unquestionably give him the job next year but he's still the most likely person to get it. But they will have to bring in someone to compete for the job. Not sure who that would be. Arguably, there aren't 32 quality starting QBs in the league. Willis from GB is a free agent, maybe he might want a one year, make good contract? But might also want a promise that it's his job.
  14. Hasn't been ruled one way or the other yet. I'm hoping he does. If he doesn't, losing is better for draft and next year's schedule so, I'm ok with it. Plus I probably won't watch much of it since it's Christmas.
  15. Ignoring the rest, I want McCarthy to play and develop. That's more important and, if he does it well, then we win. So develop and win, baby.
  16. I think they current group has shown they can create good rosters. Both this year and 2023 failed because of QB injuries. If Cousins stayed healthy, that team probably holds off the Lions. If McCarthy had stayed healthy this year, I think they would've made the playoffs. But it does seem like that Vikings have done better than expectations based on injuries to the QB position. Which says good things about the current regime. Speilman was given 15 years as GM. Zimmer 8 as head coach. This group has earned a lot more time.
  17. Zimmer/Speilman first four years together - 39-25, 2 playoff appearances, 1 win KOC/KAM first four years together - 41-25, 2 playoff appearances, 0 wins.
  18. Early but this weeks power rankings has some praise for LG Donovan Jackson https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47389978/nfl-week-17-power-rankings-poll-32-teams-2025-best-rookies#min Jackson is the only Vikings rookie who has played more than 300 snaps this season, so the list of options here is limited. But the No. 24 pick has proved he belongs since day one. He has been especially effective as a run blocker, ranking No. 6 in the NFL in run block win rate among guards. Whether he develops into a Pro Bowl-level player remains to be seen, but he at least can be counted on as a long-term starter.
  19. It's still way to early but i think the Vikings are going to pick in the 13-18 range. The three guys I'd like to have an option to draft are: 1) S Downs from Ohio State. Seems like an obvious replacement for Smith and a good fit in Flores' hybrid player scheme. 2) LB Styles from Ohio State. Good coverage LB who could step in now and cover TE/RB, which we've struggled somewhat with. 3) DL Woods from Clemson. Big freaking nose tackle. Not sure any of those three will be available when the Vikes pick though. DL/QB tend to rise between now and draft day and Downs is such a freak fit that someone will likely say "eh, what the heck, let's draft the best defensive player here and not over think it."
  20. I was actually wondering if the Vikings would take a TE in round one. They have so many other areas but if Hockinson leaves, depending on how the board falls, maybe?
  21. Flores really has this defense rolling well. One of the reasons I'm a bit suspect on PFF grades is because it doesn't like Vikings defenders even though it's a really strong group.
  22. Vikings now slated to pick at #15 with two games left. Obviously, losing both is much more likely if McCarthy is out. And here's another mock with the Vikings taking the injured CB, just for Nick. https://nfltraderumors.co/updated-2026-nfl-mock-draft-7-0/
  23. Refs gonna make sure pitt blows this
  24. Pitt is going to blow this.
  25. He didn't tell the coaching staff.
