  1. So, I think the draft is set pick wise but for the playoff teams but the Vikings picks are locked in, right? So we have four picks in the first three rounds 18, 49, 82, 97, the last two are third round picks. Assuming the Vikings want secondary help, a real NT, a running back to pair with Mason, maybe a center, and possible LB depth/replacement, what position group is deepest this year so you could put it off until the 3rd round?
  2. Two Vikings - LB Wilson and K Reichard - make Next Gen Stats all-pro team. Congrats to them. https://www.nfl.com/news/next-gen-stats-2025-all-pro-team-defense-special-teams
  3. Cincy isn't going to do it, I suppose, but they should hire Flores to make the defense competitive and let whoever the OC is have free reign with Burrow and company. That team needs a win-now approach and the AFC North is a mess right now.
  4. It makes sense. Hope it doesn't happen.
  5. I know these guys are wired differently but, gads, he's 63. He's won a super bowl. He was making 17m/yr. Retire. Just enjoy the world and stop worrying about football.
  6. Yeah, I'm not sure how this will play out but I'm pretty comfortable that if the Vikings get him, it's as a backup. I think I agree with Danchat that teams will look elsewhere before him. But I also don't know all the openings and I haven't looked at the QB FA list either.
  7. Washington fired Kliff Kingsbury, their offensive coordinator. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47528237/sources-kingsbury-whitt-commanders-coordinators I love KOC but I want the Vikings to bring in another voice on offense. I don't really care who or how but just someone outside the McVay tree to bring in different thoughts. Kingsbury could be an interesting choice. He helped make Murray look good and Mayfield in college (IIRC). He's pass happy, like KOC, but has run slightly different formations. Might be an interesting person to bring in.
  8. If they sign Cousins, it would be as a backup. I'm not sure if someone will still think of Cousins as a starter. We'll see.
  9. Interesting article from Dallas bloggers about how unrealistic it is that Flores' leaves Minnesota to come to Dallas. I basically agree. If he gets a HC job, he's gone. Otherwise, we will make him the highest paid coordinator and he will stay. https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/dallas-cowboys-coaching-staff/193468/brian-flores-defensive-coordinator-matt-eberflus-brian-schottenheimer-jerry-jones
  10. Good list, I think the Vikings will be able to get one of Allen/Styles at 18. Two questions. 1) Did Ohio State's last two losses take some of the shine off of Downs or Styles such that they might slip? 2) What do you think of Kayden McDonald?
  11. How did they win 3 games?
  12. So, apparently the Jets were the first team in history to not get an interception all season, but they were also the first team to lose it's last five games by 23 or more points each. I'm really surprised they didn't fire Glenn.
  13. I think losing Flores will be a big blow to the defense. Not sure how many people can run his type of defense. I hope he gets a head coaching job - he deserves one - but, selfishly, I wish the Wilfs would just make him the highest paid coordinator and he would stay.
  14. On Zabel, there was a lot of smoke that the Vikings would pick him. I remember hearing that they liked him so I don't remember what your suggesting although maybe I missed something that said they had him lower than Jackson. A lot of mocks had him falling to us as well. https://vikingsterritory.com/2025/news/analysis/pff-predicts-vikings-1988 https://thevikingage.com/minnesota-vikings-north-dakota-state-grey-zabel-2025-nfl-mock-draft https://www.dailynorseman.com/2025/4/22/24413992/vikings-2025-nfl-draft-preview-grey-zabel-or-a-bold-trade https://atozsports.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings-news/nfl-draft-grey-zabel-scouting-report-vikings-kwesi-adofo-mensah/ As to the placeholder idea, I suspect that one of Allen/Hargrave will be gone and we will see Redmond (not a draft pick but played 75% of snaps), Rodriguez (played 45%), and TID (28%) all see an increase. I also think that Turner might get more snaps as a hand in the ground end with a healthy Greenard outside of him in the 7-technique. We saw that a bit as the season wore on, before Greenard got injured.
  15. Healthy Rodgers, the Vikings probably won the North. As it was, if we had won the second Bears game, both teams would have finished 10-7 and we'd win the tie-breaker (as I understand it). Healthy Rodgers wins the Steelers game as well. Maybe the Philly game. Anyway, we're at home but the fatal flaw would be how well does old man Rodgers deal with pass rushes? He likes to get rid of the ball right now, KOC calls pass plays that take a bit to develop. They would've figured things out during the season but that would be the big issue in the playoffs.
  16. I love Jackson but I didn't see a lot of ravens games this year so might just being imaging what was instead of what is, if that makes sense.
  17. No, that makes sense. I do think there are scenarios where Cousins could have won a super bowl but it would require more from his teammates than, say, what Allen or Mahomes can do. I do think McCarthy has that "**** it, I'm gonna win this" attitude, and it was nice to see him win a few games on national television instead of us rolling over on national television, but he has to make big improvements. I think he will, but absolutely understand that others don't. As to this year's playoff QBs, I'm really curious on how Lawrence plays. He's been ok for a while but not "the guy", which I think we all thought he'd be. Let's see if he can knock out Allen and make some noise. Personally, I'll be rooting for Darnold, I really appreciate what he did for us. But I watched three Seahawk games this year and his running backwards out of the pocket is horrible and I can see what it doesn't instill confidence.
  18. https://vikingsterritory.com/2026/news/top_news/vikings-qb-trade-ideas-2026 Viking page suggests trading for Burrow, Jackson, or Murray and the associated costs. Of the three, I think Jackson would be the best fit but both he and Burrow have massive salary hits so there would have to be massive restructuring to make any of those trades work. Depending on the duration, it may or may not end McCarthy's tenure. Realistically, I don't think any of them are realistic - the Vikings are going to go with McCarthy and a veteran backup. But I love the idea of Jackson running the Vikings offense.
  19. They aren't doing a lot to lower the city temperatures? https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/seville-spain-climate-change-extreme-heat-1.7602428 https://reasonstobecheerful.world/green-corridors-medellin-colombia-urban-heat
  20. Who are the current good improvisational QBs though? Allen for sure. Jackson missed the playoffs. I assume by improvisational you mean QBs that can extend plays with their legs but also throw 60 yard lasers, run RPO type offenses. Guys like Darnold, Cousins, Burrow, Maye are really good "traditional" QBs?
  21. Yep, you're right. I thought it was the ACL. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/daniel-jones-gets-injury-timeline-223543490.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHOm0gUrchGfW6XBhdJpRgRtHBs-NVqjCeMzPH1rFjxLThXlqcWxWZwOJeqB6zk5ky7ICWHhJl19LaOfK9s1i9Unxv7whoEApW7eP6qbzGjd5i-236fOy7zndYwoMQicLflYWajF-s8epxxFLoalKC4D2Ob4lO_ACi_ri0CStMNE
  22. Pete Carroll out at LV. I really thought he'd bring some stability to the Raiders. Disaster season. Gannon out in Arizona. He was hired b/c of his defensive background. Seems like defense-first coaches have failed a lot recently, although Jets didn't fire Glenn. Might be bad news for Flores if teams want to hire offensive minded coaches instead.
  23. NFC: Bears beat the Packers - Packers are in denial about the free fall they're in. Love will have three weeks of rust on him. I think Johnson is a better coach than MLF. Eagles beat the Niners. Sorry, Eagles are a tough out. Rams crush Panthers. Seahawks beat Rams at home, Darnold gets good storylines for a week. Eagles crush Bears. Eagles win in Seattle. AFC: Patriots over Chargers. Herbert has another bad game. Maye looks invincible. Jags upset Bills, Allen might never get to the Super Bowl. Texans crush Pitt, Tomlin out as their coach. Texans upset Denver, Viking fans remember how much they hate Payton and are quite happy. Pats beat Jags. Pats beat Texans Super Bowl: Eagles beat Pats.
  24. To make a modest correction, Jones will be out at least the first half of next season with the ACL injury so, really, one less starter to go around.
  25. Here's the Vikings schedule next year. It's not too bad. https://www.dailynorseman.com/minnesota-vikings-schedule/94175/opponents-2026-nfl-nfc-north-afc-home-away-matchups
