  1. Also, I completely didn't realize that both Cameron and Connor Heyward were the sons of Ironhead Heyward from back in the day.
  2. Big change this year in the AFC. Chiefs and Ravens don't make the playoffs and the Bills are the sixth seed.
  3. Unless they make it to the AFC Championship game, I think they'll move on.
  4. Dumb way to end the half.
  5. Colts not firing anyone. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47506569/colts-coach-shane-steichen-gm-chris-ballard-return-2026 Chris Ballard has been their GM for nine years. Has four winning seasons. And he traded away two firsts for CB Gardner and the team promptly lost 7 in a row to end the season. I thought for sure he was going to be fired. Not as sure about the coach, who has been okish except when Richardson was his QB.
  6. I'm not sure the "Dallas Turner is a bust" camp should be talking much here.
  7. Atlanta fired Morris.
  8. I'd probably be saying that fans don't understand what hit rates on draft picks really are and they don't understand that teams draft for the now and the future. But, to be clear, Tesla was a better pick than Felton.
  9. Here's the link to KOC's locker room speech after the win today. Jump to 2 minutes to see the Ham and Smith send off.
  10. Yeah, that penalty - and the whole "nine" thing - was just stupid. He has some growing up to do but hopefully he gets that. Or the coaches pound that into him.
  11. If he can't be better than Cousins, bench him. But I'm pretty strongly pro-McCarthy. I think he's going to be a good QB. But he has to stay healthy. That's what I worry about.
  12. Well they certainly won't go with Brosmer but Wentz or Cousins (after he's released) might be the back up. I don't think they'll go after Willis or trade for Burrow.
  13. On 15 catches. I'm not saying he was a bad pick. I'm just saying the same argument - he's a bad pick for a win-now team - is being made by the Detroit fanbase.
  14. How is that possible?
  15. Yeah, but I think that's easier to fix in FA or later draft picks. Ward and Jackson are both under contract, although Jackson looked lost early in the season.
  16. The Lions did the same thing - they nabbed Tesla in the 3rd round despite being a developmental pick. Pride of Detroit's forums were not happy with that after the Vikings loss. Saying the same thing you are - win-now teams can't draft like that. All teams do.
  17. Regardless of where he was projected (here he's #98 on a big board, here he's # 154) my thought process was that with good QB play, we'd have more games like the Cincy and Washington blowouts where he'd get garbage time playing time to get reps. I don't think they'd have kept Theilen in those types of games.
  18. I think I want either another Pat Williams to absolutely stuff the run (Kayden McDonald?) or make a LB to eventually replace Cashman (Allen or Styles?). They'll need to add to the secondary but somehow that group did ok this year.
  19. I can't think of a single GM who has won at a .630 clip for his first four years and been fired. The Vikings haven't had a four year run like that in decades. He just got a big extension from ownership. He's fine.
  20. Well, the first round rookie played 14 games, was called for three penalties all year, and was top 7 in run blocking, per ESPN. He seemed ok. Dawkins played about 30% of defensive snaps, not bad for a 5th round rookie (he was hurt for a game, IIRC). But, realistically, this isn't a team that was far away. They needed a good QB. If they had that, they were probably the #1 or #2 seed. And, while it'll be discussed a lot more, I'm sure, next years' team is going to look a lot like this years' team.
  21. I guess this is an eye of the beholder thing but McCarthy looked a lot better. I get that the haters want to say he played bad defenses so the results don't matter but he absolutely played a lot better. His QB rating over those games was over 95.
  22. Or, those extra losses cost us a playoff birth.
  23. Looks like the Vikings are locked into the 18th pick, no matter what happens with Pitt/Balt.
  24. Man, if they had covered the kick off in the Bears loss, they'd have been 10-7 and won the North if Chicago lost to Detroit later today?
  25. Good coaching, good roster.
