  1. You seem to be forgetting or ignoring the obvious, The Twins needed two starters: one for Friday and one for Saturday. Berrios AND Duffey. That was the obvious choice.
  2. It's not "hindsi There were more than "two thoughts." Some of us questioned the decision making, predicted these exact results, and offered up Berrios on Friday night as a much better option. We questioned these things prior to the weekend. Please don't refer to these questions now as "hindsight."
  3. The Hughes and Suzuki extensions are the worst, IMO. He missed on Nolasco, maybe on Santana. That can happen. But when he gets lucky and hits on cheap pickups, he immediately turns assets into liabilities. That is worse, to me, since it sort of points to a lack of understanding what he has, and how to take advantage of it.
  4. Many goats, but it boils down to Gibson giving up a 3r HR on an 0-2 count in the first, and using 107 pitches without getting an out in the 6th.
  5. Having him start that game Friday night was teh stupid.
  6. According to Dickbert, the Twins would rather not use him tonight.
  7. My guess is we'll never know, because next spring he'll go back into Rochester's rotation and waste another year.
  8. a) Hoey didn't throw 99, and That he could throw mid-90s was the only reason he even got where he did.
  9. They'll wait till Buxton's hot streak is over, and call him up just in time for the inevitable slump to follow.
  10. Next time someone tries to tell you velocity isn't important, show them this inning. Then take him to BBRef and show him Betances' K rate.
  11. Not so much terrible as "overpowered."
  12. Nice job Fien. I like the agressivness, and I like the 95-96.
  13. I bet If Betances was with the Twins org, he'd still be a starter, struggling along with great stuff but poor results.
  14. Is it wrong I'm terrified of an 0-2 count?
  15. TD is filled with fine, right-thinking Americans. And Canucks, come to think of it.
  16. The problem isn't so much choosing Duensing, IMO. The problem is the lack of palatable choices. And that's on the GM, and has been all. friggin. season. For the record, if you were happy TR didn't "trade away the farm" at the deadline, you probably shouldn't be complaining about the bullpen today.
  17. I think McCann has thown out more runners tonight than Suzuki has thrown out all year. I'm only half kidding.
  18. Well, what's been reported is that Toronto tried for months to get Colorado to TAKE Reyes, and Colorado finally relented. We also know, if MLBTR can be trusted, that no team put in a claim on Reyes when he went on waivers this month, apparently fearing Colorado would dump him on them for nothing. So yeah, as much as we can know anything about MLB trades, we know Tulo went pretty cheaply, and we know Colorado took back a lot of salary on a player no other team wants.
  19. We also know how much Toronto ended up spending to get Tulowitski. And we know Colorado ended up taking back Reyes, who they didn't want, and who has, according to MLBTraderumors, sailed through waivers without a single team willing to risk getting stuck with him. So yeah...Gibson plus a couple minor leaguers, not including Sano, and not having to take back salary, seems like it would've been in Colorado's zone of expected return.
  20. Well, tonight went well. Duffey on short rest Saturday sounds promising, too.
  21. It was all too predictable, too. Nothing like a GUARANTEED short start, with a bad bullpen, to set up a weekend series. Just so we all know ahead of time, Duffey is on short rest tomorrow, too. Well played, Mr Ryan.
  22. One, by my count, if Perkins still qualifies.
