  1. Sure you can. I don't know if you can OVERstate it though, Canuck. edit: ninja'd by DW.
  2. He has 223 PAs vs RHP this year (.822 OPS) and 119 PAs vs LHP this year (.842 OPS)
  3. It surely was, but you "can't assume a double play." Or some other silly scorekeeping rule.
  4. I approve, except I gotta believe there's something wrong with Colon.
  5. Starting Colon not a good way to start the series.
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/4/7/4/255970474/cuts/640x0/cut.jpg Of COURSE they'll celebrate, why wouldn't they? Every team would. Here are the DBacks this past weekend after securing a WC spot.
  7. Perhaps because Molitor pulled his starter before serious damage...
  8. I don't think determining who should be pitching is a small thing, I don't think Molitor is very good at it, and I'm certainly not forming my opinion solely on last night.
  9. We'll have to agree to disagree. The status of the bullpen (*mostly) has nothing to do with when/if Molitor pulls his starter. And it shouldn't. He's got bullpen arms, he needs to use them to best effect, even if they're not good options, or his best options. *In the 2 or 3 instances per year when the bullpen truly IS taxed, I can see asking a starter for an extra out or two past when he should be removed. And it truly ISN'T more than a couple times a year that situation arises.
  10. I wish just the opposite...who cares if the starter gets a W? It's the team W that goes on the record. I want Molitor gone, but not because he's too quick to pull starters. In fact it's just the opposite...far too often he waits until a fading starter has damaged the game before pulling him. Hopefully last night was a sign of progress for Molitor, and he is more likely to pull a starter a hitter or 2 too early, than a hitter or 2 too late. He did exactly the right thing last night. I hope it wasn't just pitch count driven. I hope he looked at the next couple hitters and said, "if we get beat, it won't be these two hitters off my LH starter."
  11. there's an intimidation factor that, IMO, traces back to Ron Gardenhire and his quotes before every Yankee series about how perfect his team was going to need to be. Molitor, same way. When your pitching staff treats Greg Bird like Babe Ruth, you are playing scared.
  12. mod note: let's keep away from personal attacks, and focus our smoldering fury on the real culprit...the damn Yankees.
  13. the goldy helmets were the best ever.
  14. Not to mention our manager felt the need to play offense one inning with only two outs instead of three. Yet again.
  15. The bullpen difference is rather pronounced.
  16. The Yankees pen might be the best in the postseason.
  17. Verlander now 3-0 for Houston with a .86 ERA. Glad we didn't pursue that "decline phase" loser.
  18. Just a bit intimidated, perhaps?
  19. Same distance when the Twins are up to bat.
