    and sliding feet first is bow you break your ankle. Taking a pitch off the wrist is how you break your wrist, should we not send players up to hit? I think you play the game hard and accept there are always injury risks. In a case like this, a headfirst slide away from the catcher might even have less chance of injury, since it minimizes the chance of contact.

    IMO the way to maximize his chances of scoring there, a head first slide on the foul side of the line was the way to go. Hand extended, it gets to the plate the quickest, and there is way less chance of it being off the ground like his lead foot was. He's also lower to the ground and therefore a bit more difficult to tag. Plenty of space to avoid contact there, too, so not a lot of increased chance of injury.

    I agree 100 percent. Believe it or not, I was mildly against the extension at the time. Two cheap years were already guaranteed, should've just let that ride. But most people were happy with it.

    I agree there wasn't enough there to change the call, from what we saw. But I have read in multiple places that the replay office in NY has views from additional cameras that are not part of the broadcast crew, and therefore we wouldn't see them. They also have the ability to sync two or more views so they possibly could have compared the image of the tag being made to the image of his back leg hitting the plate, two views side by side. I strongly doubt they would have changed the call from what we saw. There almost had to be more.

    If he starts for home, and sees the CFer recover and get off a decent throw to the plate, he has time to go back to third.

    The Grossman tag was a horrible baserunning decision. He was already in scoring position, in a tie game, and the fly ball was out two. Grossman runs like a man dragging a plow. There is some advantage to being on third with 2 out vs on second, but not much. If the throw was on line, he's out by 3 steps. In contrast, Rosario's gamble didn't just gain a base, it paid off in a run, with 2 out, and Adrianza due up. I don't think the throw gets him even if it's on line.

    I make fun of Rosario's...adventurous nature sometimes, but I will say this: that was a fantastic baserunning play. He totally deked the CFer out, caught him totally flat footed, and I think he scores even if the throw is on line. I give the man his props when he deserves them.

    He's gotten better and better as the game went on. He started pretty badly, IMO. All over the place.
