  1. Twins best player over the past half decade. And give me the guy who wants in the lineup every day, every time. Sorry to see him go. He will be very difficult to replace.
  2. 4) Let Dozier play out the 2018 season. It's not over yet. Then decide. The value they got for him is less than the non-zero chance the Twins can still win the ALC.
  3. Well, you know me, Pseudo. Sunshine and rainbows.
  4. Adrianza has put up a 90 and 89 OPS+ the last two seasons. Even in Dozier's down year this year he's at 92, and the season prior it was 126. Adrianza/Polanco is not an "improvement."
  5. Well, Sano and Escobar is certainly better than Sano. And Pressly was a pretty important piece of the pen, so IMO, yes they sold.
  6. The primary difference for the Twins, as I see it, is they only need to catch one team. And they have games to play against that team.
  7. What is the cost benefit analysis of watching meaningful baseball games through August and September? I, too, want the Twins to win a WS. But I also want to watch meaningful regular seasons. And this season wasn't lost yet. And for the record, as Spycake has pointed out "all of the GMs" in situations similar to, or worse than, the current Twins HAVEN'T sold yet. Do you suppose you're overestimating your particular expertise in the area of how MLB teams operate?
  8. eh? I don't see a single position player I feel confident will be worthy of a full time position next year. Who am I missing?
  9. nitpic: Getting to the big leagues does not guarantee they "will contribute for 6 years or more." Lots of players make it to the big leagues, but do not have 6 yr careers. https://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/15/sports/baseball/15careers.html And there is the very real possibility, of course, that they won't make it to the big leagues at all, the fate suffered by most minor league players. If we're talking odds, you're ignoring lots of information here.
  10. of course it will, just like all money that is spent. You do get the benefit of what you buy with it, though, which in this case is 1.4 years of Gibson on the mound.
  11. I dont think replacing Dozier with Adrianza will result in a more productive infield. I dont think "relief pitchers are fungible" is accurate either, BTW.
  12. The season wasn’t over as far as I’m concerned. Regardless, I’d expect better roster management out of our front office.
  13. Thanks, and thanks Bill above. Btw, Damn near everyone here is smarter than me, Sconnie. But I beat most everyone in “experience.”
  14. Someone smarter than me: does Alcala need to be on the 40 man next year?
  15. Thanks for playing hard, Mr Rosario. And with a 2 man bench and six starters! We appreciate it. By the way, as a reward, we’ve dealt Misters Escobar and Pressly. Keep up the good work! - Derrick and Thad
  16. Reality is a sell off doesn’t guarantee anything about the future, but it sure torpedoes the present. And mod hat on: cease and desist with name calling and characterizations of other posters.
  17. Bolstering the Cedar Rapids lineup for a MWL run, I guess.
  18. I could not be more disappointed in this move. Not only a very iffy return, but I hate throwing in the towel. Hate it. Don't care about playoff odds, or any of that hoohah.
  19. It's hard to quantify defense, especially at catcher. So I don't know. I do know my opinion is, the Twins probably don't win 2-1 last night with Garver at catcher. I strongly doubt he blocks all the pitches in the dirt that Gibson threw last night, for one thing. It's obvious the Twins feel the delta between the two isn't as large as it appears offensively. I would imagine they have at least some metrics that lead them to this conclusion.
