  1. Yeah, he had really good stuff tonight, I thought. But I wouldn't say he pitched well.
  2. You're going to give Sano credit for a WP?
  3. Mod note: The use of descriptors such as "nonsense" to describe others' opinions is how threads turn obnoxious. Knock it off.
  4. Pursue the best possible talent. If that comes from within the division, so be it.
  5. I'd certainly take Robbie Ray, but even if the DBacks sell, I'm not sure they'd deal Ray. He's not a FA until 2021. Archie Bradley has good stuff, and might be a decent buy low bullpen candidate. If they sell, Grienke will be the first to go.
  6. I see that as the opposite. If you're a contending team, Jake Cave in AAA makes sense as depth to cover injuries. He makes sense in the Twins OF if, for example, Kepler gets injured. If you're the SF Giants, and indeed entering a rebuild, why would you waste time investing ABs in Jake Cave, who is never going to be a difference maker on a contending team, and who doesn't really make the current team much better. I would think the Giants (and similar teams) will look to acquire players with upside, even if they're several years away. Not 4th OFers.
  7. I live in Arizona, and sort of pay attention to the DBacks. I'd be very surprised if they sell off. They're above .500 and in the NL WC hunt, and there's been little to no talk in the papers of them selling.
  8. Jake Cave won't get Will Smith. Jake Cave is 26 and in AAA, with modest numbers and a modest minor league career. He's not a prospect in any way, shape or form. He's minor league depth. And he won't net a usable piece.
  9. I'd trust Kimbrel and two of Giles, Hand, or Smith over either.
  10. What about Eades looked good? Middling stuff, 4 baserunners in 2 innings. Lucky to get an out from a runner thrown out at home. He's no different than the other marginal talent in the pen.
  11. Actually, xFIP is "Expected Fielding Independent Pitching." It substitutes projected HR rate for HRs allowed.
  12. You're right, we cant assume...maybe he wanted to sign with Twins and we could have had him for less.
  13. "Buxton led off with a double" is only true in that he ended the AB on second. He led off with a single... Fun to watch, and he seems to gain confidence and pitch recognition weekly.
  14. Well, let's hope you're right. I could live with Syndergaard and Diaz, I guess.
  15. Personally, I'd move Duffey down to Wouldn't trust to hit water if he jumped out of boat With MaGill and Morin in whatever category comes after that.
  16. You have that bass ackwards. The 2017 Vikings proved that DEFENSE wins championships!!
  17. First of all, I disagree with this take, which is pretty common place here. Pressly was the Twins best, or second best reliever when traded. But even if we accept this as fact, what makes you think the Twins, one year later, will turn the guy(s) they acquire into elite reliever(s), if they couldn't do it with Pressly? I mean, they have a new pitching coach, but what else has changed? And most importantly...if it HAS changed, why wouldn't Pressly be the same guy he is now, if he had stayed with the Twins?
  18. First of all, there's no cap in baseball. There's a luxery tax penalty, but that's not a factor for most teams. Second, Who are you going to give up to get Syndergaard and Diaz? I don't think the Twins have the prospects to play in that end of the pool if the Mets did decide to package those two. And I don't think the Mets sell anyway. They were busy acquiring players this past winter trying to win now. And finally, the Twins can't spend the money to acquire Kimbrel, but have the money to provide the Mets salary relief by taking on Cespedes' contract?
  19. Well for one thing, the Twins weren't a 90 loss team. It was a terrible trade, it was always a terrible trade, and would have been a terrible trade even IF the Twins were a 90 loss team, and expected to BE a 90 loss team. I do agree the Twins have an abundance of mid-tier prospect types, and I have no problem trading them for bullpen help. I'd have wanted more bullpen upgrades even if they'd landed Kimbrel. But I can guarantee you there will be much whining and gnashing of teeth over it, if and when it happens. And we won't get back anyone as good as Pressly, nor likely as good as Kimbrel.
  20. The Twins bullpen is 10th in the AL by ERA.
  21. When all else fails, break out the ol' "they wouldn't want to come to Minnesota anyway" excuse, I guess.
  22. 1) Rogers 5) May 6) Parker 7) Ron Davis 7a) Everyday Eddie, 2019 version 8) Harper 9) Duffey 10) Magill 12) Morin
