  1. I'm old school, and pay no attention to the win expectancy charts. IMO they don't tell me anything I wouldn't already intuitively sense from watching the game. I'm sure for many, however, these are useful and interesting. Many people probably ignore them, but I love box scores, so please don't discard the link for that. I also love the post game thoughts from Baldelli. I don't have access to that, living out of town. And THANK YOU (and all the game recappers) for these. Really, really appreciated.
  2. They don't need to acquire the best reliever in baseball. Just a good one or two. Do the descriptors you omitted – "prime-aged relievers, ideally with an untapped strength, under multiple years of control" – seem that unattainable in a sea of ready sellers? These Twins have shown an ability to help some pitchers discover new levels, no? There's going to be a "sea of ready sellers" for prime age relievers under multiple years of control? Your plan is for multiple teams to make as bad a trade as the Twins did with Pressly? Let's hope you're right.
  3. There should be no shortage of such opportunities in the coming weeks, and the Twins have no shortage of prospects do deal with. There should be no shortage of Ryan Pressly's available in the coming weeks? Dude.
  4. I'd imagine the current thought process is, he needs to show he can get AAA hitters out before you ask him to get MLB hitters out. He's given up runs in five of his last ten outings. Multiple runs in three of those five.
  5. Stealing my stuff, Tom? From last night's game thread: Posted by USAFChief on Yesterday, 07:48 PM in Minnesota Twins Talk Sort of karma for the bullpen to implode on the same night Kimbrel signs with the Cubs, no?
  6. I think to be fair to Cody, the chances of Sano being a superstar have faded. A lot.
  7. I thought it was a mistake to send Smeltzer out for the 7th. First of all, he's not that good. But mostly, he didn't have good command all night. He wasnt hitting his spots, and also left too many pitches in the middle of the plate. It wasnt surprising to me the 7th was ugly.
  8. TINSTAAPP I would be reluctant to draft pitchers high, too, although I really liked that Rutledge kid. But I'm still underwhelmed by the bats they've drafted.
  9. I stated I'm no expert. And I'm underwhelmed by the Twins picks. They just picked a guy in the third round who is projected to perhaps be a utility player. It's an uninformed opinion, but I offer it anyway. For the record, you haven't changed my opinion.
  10. I'm no expert, but from afar, I couldn't be more underwhelmed with the Twins draft so far. 3rd rounder with no power who won't stay at SS? A reach at 13? WTF??
  11. Awful stadium, but we have no room to criticize...we had the Metrodome. Also awful.
  12. I believe the saying is actually "good pitching beats good hitting, and vice versa."
  13. This has been a fun week of baseball. Games that feel as if they matter, and the Twins are showing they can play with the big boys.
  14. Back in my day, we didn't have 11 channels.
  15. "Good seats available! Just take your seat home when you leave."
  16. "We're not in last place in the second half!"
  17. "You're guaranteed to see a major league baseball team!"
  18. I would imagine Littel's reward for eating innings tonight is a ticket back to Rochester. Hopefully anyway. The last guy in the bullpen needs to be available to have any value at all, and he's not available for a couple days now. Also, I checked the MLB rules, and confirmed tonight's game counts as only one loss.
  19. But not as fast as Cool Papa Bell, who was so fast when he turned the light out at night, he was in bed before it got dark.* *hat tip to Satchel Paige, who likely owes a hat tip to someone before him.
