  1. Bold prediction: Lee is a MLB regular before Lewis
  2. Did you know that Max Kepler's parents are ballet dancers and he was born in Germany?
  3. Lee??!? Stupid *?***(## Twins!!1!11 TERRIBLE pick!!1!
  4. Open the spigot on that Pitching Pipeline(tm) that I read so much about.
  5. "black drape fell revealing a number that will now live in Twins infamy"
  6. I disagree with much of the premise of this article. There really aren't low leverage guys in a bullpen. Everyone is going to pitch in close games. That's the nature of baseball, a low scoring game, and the long term trend of fewer and fewer innings provided by starters. The problem isn't which inning a weak reliever gives up runs. The problem is too many weak relievers. Adding a good arm surely helps, but it won't mean Cotton won't have a chance to pitch in a 1 run game. And regularly giving up too many baserunners hurts in the 6th as well as the 8th.
  7. The rest of the year? They're working on getting him an extension.
  8. 3 options for Winder in the second half? It 2 now, I guess.
  9. There’s no denying it, Byron Buxton has had a great season to date I'll certainly deny it.
  10. First of all, there aren't any noncrucial innings. Or few enough to not matter. But assuming there WERE such innings, I don't see how that changes the way he pitches.
  11. He pitched "really well" last year? He had a great K rate, but walked almost 6 per nine, had an ERA over 4, and a 1.44 WHIP. That doesn't sound appealing to me.
  12. Not to mention the splitter is really only a weapon when he's ahead in the count. And when it gives some appearance of a strike out of his hand.
  13. Concur on Larkin. Someone didn't do their homework. I'd add Gagne as well as Gladden and make it a Core 5.
  14. For those hoping for bullpen answers in St Paul, We've been through the arms in St Paul. Most of them more than once. That's the Falvine game plan: assemble a conga line of waiver wire pickups, minor league free agents, and retreads and churn through them as the season goes. And I won't name names, but lots of posters cheered that approach last winter. "Relievers are fungible," "relievers are the easiest thing to find" "they had a good FIP last July," "just rotate these guys in until something sticks, it'll work itself out." I hope Falvine can fix the pen this year. I don't think answers are coming internally. They'll need external help. And It won't be cheap IF they can. I hope we all understand that. They're in a tough spot, needing at minimum 2 guys better than Jax. Where are they coming from? But most of all, I hope they take a better approach to building a bullpen in the future. The current model is just a recipe to get what we're getting.
  15. I sure don't read much about the vaunted pitching pipeline(TM) anymore.
  16. If he was available for 2 innings I'd assume that would have been the 8th and 9th. Since they went with Megill in the 8th, I assume Duran wasn't available for 2. Unless you think Rocco preferred Megill to Duran. As for the 10th, unless you think Rocco preferred Moran, I'd assume Duran wasn't available. Duran threw 16 innings last year. 16. They are going to be relatively cautious with him. I can understand that. I'd hate to even think about Duran getting inju...... ... Nope. Not going there. I have my problems with Rocco. I've been labeled a negative Nellie on Rocco by a certain Cadre here. But I do think we need to be fair. Rocco has **** to work with in the pen. I screamed into the void all winter about it. That's not on him.
  17. Someone explain to me why -Correa needed a day off. Again. I absolutely hate the Twins player usage. Hate it. And don't even try to tell me it keeps players healthy. - Jeffers batted in the 10th. WHAT? -I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on not throwing Duran for a 2 inning save, but -why are we still struggling with the same names in the pen?
  18. I don't think his run would have counted. In this case, tagging Moncada was the second out, stepping on 2nd the 3rd out. There was no time out, the ball was in play the entire time. There was no needed "4th out." The two plays weren't similar. edit: I just re-read your post and noticed you said "1 out." In the immortal words of Emily Littela, "Never mind." In the also immortal words of Bert Blyleven, "I ****** that all up."
  19. I'm not at all convinced his bat will continue to be playable, but happy to concur I've been wrong so far.
  20. I found this exact quote on "White Sox Interactive" only they seemed to think it was Twins pitchers getting all the calls.
