    Just your ordinary, every day, "spot em 4 and still come away with the W after your starter leaves in the 4th" game. Yawn... Seriously, nice job bullpen. Even Pagan, after walking 3 to start the 8th, rallied to limit the damage to 1. Oh, and really great recap, Mr Birkeland.

    Sad, but... I'm afraid I feel like the Twins are better off if he doesn't return this year. He doesn't help at DH.

    I hope against hope the 2024 Twins are good enough to leave both Martin and Lee in AAA. In the case of Martin, pump the breaks a bit. And in the case of Lee, there has never in the history of baseball been a team hurt by having too many good players. I hope he wins a AAA MVP and there's no room for him. But the reality is, if he's good, he'll get an opportunity.

    And I believe MLB needs to reexamine the second half waiver process. Dumping players into a pennant chase is bad for the sport, and the specific reason there are trade deadlines. This entire situation can't become the norm.

    Add me to the list of people thinking that dumping players into a pennant chase is unsportsmanlike at best, unethical at worst. This is crap. Regardless if the Twins end up with Moore or Renfroe.

    Plenty of blame to go around, but IMO putting Funderbunk into that situation was just plain bad managing. Worse than bad. Please don't try to tell me "managers don't matter." Worst loss of the year.

The others are mostly awards (silver slugger, MVPs etc).

    Concur. On the other hand, Solano running to third with the third baseman holding the ball was some awful baserunning.

    Agreed on Gallo. Just lost his footing on a correct tag and partial go. Good decision, poor execution. Solano running into the third baseman on a ground ball fielded by the third baseman is just plain bone headed. The play is right in front of him. He still makes third if the throw goes home for a tag play. Just plain bad baserunning.

    Batting average is neither outdated nor imprecise. It should absolutely be part of the evaluation of hitters. Not the only thing, but part. In fact, I'd say a slash line of BA/OBP/SLG is a better snapshot of a hitter than wOBA, which hides, rather than illuminates hitting ability. And OPS, for example, wildly overrates someone like Gallo. A .300 hitter with Gallo's OPS is a much better offensive player. Much much better. And WPA? LOL. Junk.

    The Twins somehow manage to go from tied 2-2, runners on 1st and 2nd, one out, 0-2 count on the batter, to down 5-2 WITHOUT TEXAS PUTTING A BALL IN PLAY. Holy cow that's some godawful baseball.
