    By the time of the trade, I don't recall most people believing Graterol would still end up a starter. He'd always been a likely bullpen candidate, and been moved to the pen the year before. Starter dreams--always a long shot--were long gone.

    I keep reading about this mythical "fireman" role. "Just send reliever X into the game when a high leverage situation pops up." Tell me how that works in real life...does Baldelli tell Duran to be warmed and ready from the 6th inning on, every night, just in case? "Firemen" don't exist. They never have never will. And BTW, if I were a betting man--and I am--I'd bet heavily Duran goes immediately back to closer when/if healthy.

    Not to speak for Mr Bean, but I took his point to be 46 PAs is a very small sample size from which to draw any conclusions. As someone once said, "Anybody can hit anything in 40 ABs." All that said, I have believed strongly in the platoon advantage for many decades now, and I doubt Wallner will ever hit LH pitching well. At least not as well as against RH pitching.
