  1. I"ve done the analytics on this, and it turns out if Ober gives up no more runs, his ERA will continue to fall.
  2. Go ahead, do the math. It's not like anyone here is capable of checking it.
  3. Clubhouse guy asked him what position he plays when he came up. "Wide Receiver."
  4. But only ONE that inning. Way below pace.
  5. Sounds like a proudly gay Marvel Superhero.
  6. ninja'd by wsnydes, nicksaviking, Squirrel (who isn't even in the thread), and 37 percent of the Morman Tabernacle Choir.
  7. There went the shutout.
  8. Pretty sure Thielbar starts a rehab in St Paul today.
  9. From the "One reliever down per day isn't enough" department: per Doh Hyung Park, Alcala complained of "soreness" Saturday. Wow.
  10. I rarely disagree with you Ash, but in this case I think you're off base. Umpires should never, ever make calls to influence behavior. That equals intentionally influencing the outcome. That's something that should get an umpire suspended and fined.
  11. Concur the organization gave off plenty of "We're already in the postseason" vibes. But it's the organization's actions based on that belief that's the primary concern. Or rather, lack of action. Slash payroll, Desclafani as the only starter added. Awful Polanco trade. Santana as an everyday player. Margot. They didn't just rest on their laurels, they actively got worse.
  12. Nitpic, but the Twins didn't "sign" Margot. They traded the 36th pick in the 2021 draft to the Dodgers for Margot and a non-prospect. But I agree the Twins had no business acquiring Margot and handing him a roster spot.
  13. This is a great piece of writing, Nick. I'm also vaguely opposed to an electronic strike zone, but the situation has gotten out of control via the little box on TV. It's all anyone wants to talk about. MLB got pushed into a corner and now it's just a matter of time for an electronic strike zone. Which, BTW, won't stop fans bitching about the strike zone. The most egregious thing Saturday was it appeared, to me at least, as the Wallner K was intentional by the home plate ump. He knew the pitch was a ball, but was tired of the complaints and was letting Wallner and the Twins know it. That can't happen.
  14. False. Categorically, unequivocally false. Proof: Are K's desirable for our pitching staff?
  15. Someone. Anyone: "One plus one equals two." MLR: "But let's talk yet again about my pet theory. I'm not sure you listened the first 427 times I talked down to you about it."
  16. TB started 13-0 last season, finished April 23-6. They won 99 games, good for 2nd in the AL East. It's good to not be in the AL East.
  17. Off the top of my head there is no world in which I'd bet Varland is better than Kyle Gibson. And it's not just Varland to consider. They're not going through the season on only five starters.
  18. Martin for Miranda is shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. They needed to shuffle the roster this past winter.
  19. wow. not even close to out. But "we'll take it."* *hat tip Justin Morneau
  20. I guess Kiriloff's ground ball triple was hit fairly sharply, but outside that I don't recall a single ball even hit hard by the Twins.
