  1. I have posted in game threads, more than once, that I would wager Santana leads the 2024 Twins in PAs. I was semi-joking....but only semi-. The braintrust wanted him at 1st, pretty much full time. And of all the Twins, it's ironic but makes sense to me...he's the least likely to miss time with injury.
  2. I gotta believe both of them knew the payroll situation long before any of the Boston stuff came up. They were making public announcements by early November.
  3. Levine interviewed in October for the Red Sox PBO position. He was informed shortly after he was no longer under consideration. Falvey declined an interview for the same job. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/10/twins-thad-levine-no-longer-a-candidate-for-red-sox-front-office-job.html
  4. Summary: Mike Sixel, feel free to rip away. The rest of you...careful
  5. Pro tip: before posting in this thread, check the following article to make sure you weren't "for it before you were against it."
  6. And then called it good. Added zero other starters. Falvine set out to add starting pitching. They added only Desclafani. It's not that complicated.
  7. A 2 RBI double? With 2 out no less?? Be still my beating heart!!
  8. Among all the disappointments so far this dreary season, the player I'm most disappointed in so far is Julien. He looked like such a dangerous hitter last season.
  9. Yeah, but...I don't imagine Bally's is in any kind of position to turn down someone willing to pay them for ad time on a Twins broadcast.
  10. Perhaps open to examining your management, as well? Rigid adherence to decisions made by spreadsheet 4 hours before 1st pitch? Perhaps examine what your 3 headed batting coach is doing? Or are those things above question?
  11. I'd settle for his musically-inclined cousin...Carlos Santana-Roseannadanna.
  12. Headrick? Headrick is on the 60 day?
  13. In case anyone missed it, he's no longer "facing" demotion. It's a done deal. Kepler activated, Ronny Henriquez added to 40 man and 26 man, Varland and Camargo to St Paul. Duarte to 60 man to make room for Henriquez. Henriquez hasn't been starting in St Paul. He did go 3 IP his last outing, so no idea if they plan to ease him into the rotation, although that seems pretty unlikely. He hasn't been a starter, and was bad enough in the minors to be non-tendered just a year ago. So for now it appears they're avoiding making a decision until they need a starter Friday.
  14. Again....nonsense. Nobody plans on an injury at a specific point to a specific player. They weren't expecting Descalfani to be healthy until a certain date, then not. They planned on him being healthy. He wasn't a part time starter the past two seasons. He was a full time starter, taking his turn every 5 days. The Twins planned on the same. A start every 5th day. BTW, nitpic, but it's more like 32 starts these days, not 35. People need to stop with this fantasy they concocted about the Polanco trade. That trade was first and foremost about acquiring a starter for the rotation. Not depth. Not an A ball outfielder. And not a guy they planned on replacing after 15 starts.
  15. That makes zero sense. They were planning on 15 starts? Explain to me how that works. Keep in mind he can't be optioned.
  16. A couple points: Carlos Santana was not signed as "depth." He was signed to be the full-time first baseman. Desclafani was not acquired for "depth." He was acquired to be 20 percent of the rotation. Let's view this accurately. And it looks even worse that way.
  17. I'd much prefer leaving Sands where he is. But, if he's gonna get moved into the rotation, do that by stretching him out in St Paul. Not by trying to patch together short starts for the Twins.
  18. Call me crazy, but inability to throw strikes, combined with inability to get anyone out when you DO throw strikes isn't very encouraging.
  19. This team is on pace for a -200 run differential this season. The 2016 Twins finished 59-103 with a -167 run differential.
  20. Through 20 games, the Twins run differential is -25. That's on pace for -200.
