  1. Roulette is entirely random luck. There is zero skill, strategy or plan to be followed. MLB baseball is miles from that. Many, many miles.
  2. Not THE problem doesn't equal not A problem. I don't see the Pohlads firing themselves, so asking for that while ignoring other problems seems foolhardy.
  3. We get it. When you've tied yourself to the position "managers don't matter in MLB, youve painted yourself into a corner of "Nothing is ever the manager's fault. Ever." By definition, it CAN'T be. The guy responsible for writing the everyday lineup. The guy who makes every single pitching decision for 162 games. The guy who watches Jorge Alcala turn a 4-0 lead into a 5-4 deficit. "Nothing he could do." The guy who hasn't had the same lineup in back to back games in 6 years. Wow, can't believe nobody can maintain anything. Maybe pull back from focusing on Manny Margot in one game, and take a larger look at the manager for once.
  4. Not as much as Margot lowered his.
  5. I don't understand defending a decision that you yourself agree isn't a good one. Margot shouldn't be in ANY lineup, anywhere. Putting him at leadoff is the worst possible place for someone who shouldn't even be batting 9th. The lineup is certainly struggling. Yeah. Everyone agrees. Decisions like this don't help. There might be some level of correlation.
  6. "...Kyle Farmer hit into an inning ending double play. It's funny, but Farmer is kind of who you wanted to see in that situation..." You might have wanted Kyle Farmer. Not me. "Recent hot hitting" notwithstanding. I can do without Manny Margot too.
  7. I want some early runs tonight, dammit!!
  8. Dozens in Target Field tonight. You reap what you sow, Mr Pohlad Edit: Ninja'd
  9. I did not. Did anyone? That seems like more of a prosecution argument than any kind of defense.
  10. There was a pretty young lass from Nantucket Who slipped and said .... N/M Wrong thread.
  11. Fall portends winter Baseball delays that slightly Don't blow it Rocco
  12. Miami's in town For a crucial 3 gamer Some RBI's please
  13. Well, yeah. Better players would be good. That has ZERO relation to the question of whether the players they DO have are well managed. "I'm not going to fix my broken leg because I have two broken arms" is a poor way of improving your health. "I'm not going to worry about the manager because Carl Pohlad won't buy us Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani" is a poor method of improving your team's results.
  14. Ridiculously bad decision by the manager. Pretty transparent fanboy writing.
  15. 3-3 might do it if Atlanta still has something to play for. They only have to make up one game on either KC or Detroit.
  16. Irvin has only appeared in 3 games as a Twin. Which of "at least 2" were fine? The one hitter he got out in his first appearance? OK That leaves us with 4 hits and a run in his second appearance, or yesterday's disaster. He now has a loss, and a 16.88 ERA as a Twin. It'd be great if you could at least argue from a factual basis once in a while instead of just inventing things to suit your position.
  17. I have always laughed at Fangraphs' "playoff odds," and I still am. They're a joke. I mean, a 0.5% chance less than 2 months ago? But the worst: 4 teams competing for 2 spots, but THREE have a better than 50/50 chance to get one of those 2 spots?? How can three be favorites for two spots?
  18. So the manager had no impact on the game? The results were written in stone before the first pitch was thrown? There was no possible path to victory, even with a 2 run lead bottom 5? Absolutely nothing could have been done differently?
  19. -Leave in Matthews for one more hitter. -Sands, who has been great all year. -Varland, the secret weapon. -Thielbar, who has been the guy you've given this job to all year, for some reason. --But not the waiver wire pickup. And CERTAINLY not for another inning so he can hand a **** sandwich to Sands. Honestly, is there NOTHING a manager can be held responsible for? -
  20. You don't actually watch the games, do you? The Twins led 2-0 (with 1 on, 2 out) in the 5th when Rocco summoned Irvin.
