  1. Minnesota pessimist in me says: This team may not make the playoffs...
  2. I wouldn't be surprised. But doesn't he have to announce the protest at the time of the play? Maybe that's what he was doing out there. But I remember in past situations that it was known almost immediately to the announcing team.
  3. Given the pitch count, maybe Jake is going to be the opener for Stewart tonight.
  4. Looks like Jake is more odor than easy tonight.
  5. Mejia pitched a scoreless first inning for the Blue Wahoos tonight. Any word on what the plan is for him? I know he is on the 60-man IL until about 7/1 but he is out of options, so they'll have to do something with him at that point.
  6. Actually, I have to agree with him (even though he's from Staples!) that the Twins have reached the track over and over in this series. Maybe this is just repayment for a few that eeked over the wall earlier in the year.
  7. Aggressive base-running can be a Cron-ic problem.
  8. "WPA of +0.1: Kepler .847, Littell .288, Magill .288, Duffey .288, Rosario .263, Pineda .235, Rogers .144, Parker .144 "WPA of -0.1: Harper -.129, Schoop -.161, Cave -.165, Cron -.228, Garver -.240, Morin -.289, Polanco -.294, Sano -.433" Wow! Kepler (et al.) giveth and Sano (et al.) taketh away! Here's a question for someone with more energy than I: The WPA for the whole team (in a win) adds up to 0.5, increasing from an initial 0.5 to 1.0. Adding up the absolute values of just these players yields 4.142! Adding in the other players not shown here gives 4.349. This must be close to a record, but does anyone know what the record is?
  9. He'll get it one of these days. Just needed a couple more innings.
  10. I feel like there should be a dwarf screaming "A RUN ... A RUN!!!"
  11. Even more painful is that it looks like an insurmountable lead.
  12. Will the Twins ever score again? Or will 1 or 2 runs beat us every night?
  13. This has been bugging me all season, but I finally figured out of whom Pineda reminds me. It's not flattering: Sydney Ponson. Big, formerly a star, picked up cheaply. By that standard, Pineda is having a great season!
  14. Ten days we can navigate, but if this seemingly minor injury keeps him out half a season (as has often been the case with fragile Mr. B.), followed by a few weeks of rehab, then we have a problem. At least he didn't do this running into the outfield wall, so no one can blame him for it!
  15. Thanks for the report. This is probably the experience of a lifetime for a lot of these players. Even many of the stars on AA teams don't end up seeing much time in the majors, so despite their hopes and perhaps expectations, these occasions often turn out to be career highlights. Good luck to them tonight!
  16. I"m appreciating the comments of Jacque Maurice tonight. He might know a thing or two about pitching, and he's much more informative than BB.
  17. Well, at least at this rate Porcello will only be able to go 11 or 12 innings tonight before he runs up his pitch count.
  18. Now if only the scorekeeper would ...
  19. Wasn't it 7 innings/3 ER until a few years ago?
  20. Wouldn't Bemidji be in foul territory?
  21. Like ...quick ... before he strikes out in his next two ABs!
  22. Seems like most of the former have been with <2 strikes and the latter have been with 2 strikes. But that's probably misperception.
  23. This Cruz guy will never stick in the big leagues like that.
  24. Seem like that second inning was a lot of bad luck on well-placed, but not hard-hit, balls. However, he seemed totally unable to get swings and misses, so if you let them eventually put it in play, they will often find holes.
