  1. Since Duffey and Mejia are out of options I suppose they could be included in a package for a starter. My guess is the Twins will trade for another starter instead of going the free agent route.
  2. Garrett Richards probably would have been this years version of Michael Pineda, but he was scooped up on a two year deal with the Padres. Would imagine the same plan with him...one season of rehab and then pitch in 2020.
  3. Oh, I dunno, I would guess Vlad Jr and Bo Bichette from the Jays.
  4. Comment from JJ Cooper of Baseball America (who follows the Rule 5 as closely as anybody) on the possibility of Tyler Jay getting picked:
  5. Great stuff, Seth! Good to learn about some of the lower level prospects that maybe aren't as well known.
  6. Coming on the heels of the prior year when a 4th overall pick wasn't worth stashing on the 40-man.
  7. Have to think the Yankees get Patrick Corbin also. The rich get richer.
  8. Not a big deal. Everyone knows Matt Belisle is the de facto pitching coach.
  9. Is it possible Bailey Ober could have snuck into the back end of the top 30 if he hadn't got injured? Was pitching at a really high level when he went down.
  10. Good choice with Cutura. I was just noticing the other day how good his August was.
  11. Kind of stinks that the Miracle have two games at home and the final three (if necessary) on the road at Daytona. Would prefer it the other way around. But I guess that is the FSL playoff procedure to alternate home field each year. If you remember, last year the FSL championship series was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Was supposed to be the FSL South's year for the home field advantage. Surprised they didn't carry it over to this year. Now the north has home field twice in a row....'16 and '18. Oh well, guess the Miracle just needs to go out and sweep the first three games and make it moot!
  12. Nah, it would only be a jinx if Kirilloff was playing in the Arizona Fall League.
  13. You are correct on Enlow. His last appearance before this one he had 8 K's in five innings of work. I was curious so I checked...before these last two starts, Blayne has only had one game where he's had more strikeouts than innings pitched....and that was 3 K's in a 2 inning appearance back in May. 6.47 K/9 for the year 13.5 K/9 his last two starts Maybe he's hit on something. At least trending in the right direction.
  14. Sean Miller...wow. From Arizona Fall League to released the following season. I'm sure the suspension did him no favors, however. Wishing Sean the best in whatever is next for him.
  15. With Royce slumping and Kirilloff with a rare 0-fer it was good to see a couple other Miracle players picking up the slack. Whitefield with a couple hits and Blankenhorn with a couple including the walk off. The Miracle are going to need some balance throughout the lineup these final few games. De La Trinidad has been chipping in too, but need guys like Costello and Miranda to get hot. This FSL South race is a dandy. Will be glued to the results of the games as they come in and hopefully the Miracle can pull this out by weeks end.
  16. Eloy Jimenez is right up towards the top too, but behind Vlad Jr. But yeah, in any "normal" year (ha!) Kirilloff would be right there in the mix.
  17. Ahh, okay...now that you mentioned it I did see your tweet on the MWL playoff schedule. No off days should you get to round 2. Yes, would be nice to get Colina back. Have Tyler Watson too, but he's been a little up and down.
  18. Good to see Nick Gordon get a hit and go 1-4 if only to inch away from the Mendoza Line. Could Nick stand to build up some more strength in his 6-0 frame? Thought I had read somewhere that he looked noticeably bigger this past spring training, but perhaps not. Can't help but think this is leading to his second half swoons the past couple years. He just seems to wear down as the season progresses.
  19. The Kernels almost have to roll with a playoff rotation of Dobnak, Duran and Enlow in some order, right? Not sure what Balazovic's availability is going forward since he's on the 7-day DL. Is there an outside chance Cedar Rapids can get back Edwar Colina or Bryan Sammons (if healthy) should the Miracle not make the playoffs?
  20. Nice win for the Miracle to stay in the FSL South playoff chase. Unfortunately, didn't get much help from the Tortugas as Daytona lost to the Charlotte Stone Crabs. FTM still 1.5 games back, I believe.. The Miracle needs a hot streak this final week.
  21. Trevor Larnach this week in six games (23 PA): .136/.174/.273 (.447) This is not counting his 1-4 tonight. Not striking out a ton but not taking many walks either. Just a run-of-the-mill slump? Or perhaps starting to hit the wall after a long spring of OSU Beaver baseball + playoffs + College World Series + half season of minor league ball?
  22. Mike Berardino mentioned that Kohl Stewart had 7 swing and miss pitches out of 65 - about 10.8%. What is an above average MLB sw/miss rate? Of course, the problem with Kohl is that his control was so far off that not enough pitches were even available to be swung at and missed.
  23. Yes, Rochester has been offensively challenged all year. The Wings are probably thinking "Oh well, Kirilloff and Lewis will be here within the next year or so to help out". Then watch the Twins jump Alex and Royce right from AA to the bigs! Rochester: "Hey, wait a minute!".
  24. Good to see Bryan Sammons toss a solid game after some rough outings. The FSL South race is fun to watch right now. The Miracle hanging on to first place by the thinnest of margins over those pesky Charlotte Stone Crabs. I think they can pull this off with like 15 games remaining. Obviously, the everyday lineup is solid. The key will be the starting pitching down the stretch. Barnes, Graterol and Jax appear to be giving them consistent starts. Need Sammons, Cutura and Beeker to also pitch well the next couple weeks. Ryan Mason and Jovani Moran have been good out of the bullpen. Should be fun!
