    I'd say give Sano ST plus April & May. If he's still struggling after Memorial Day, then I'd be concerned. I think he'll be fine though.

    I agree. Deal Plouffe when Sano is ready, then give Sano a year and a half to see if he sticks at 3B. If he can't then use your farm system depth at other positions to deal for a 3B prospect from another team. Or delve into free agency. Get value for Plouffe as soon as you can.

    Yeah ,Wheeler is a big kid. Gets downgraded some because he only sits in the 89-92 range with his fastball. But he's very smart and knows how to pitch. Hard to argue with the numbers as he's moved up the chain.

    Was thinking Wheeler more in a Kris Johnson role from '14. A guy you could bring up and down from AAA when you need a lefty (and you KNOW we'll need 8-10 starters over the course of the year). It helps that he's on the roster. Agree that Rogers has more of an upside, but I'd rather see him come up and be a mainstay in the rotation instead of being a yo-yo between minors/majors. Rogers doesn't need to be protected on the 40-man until this Fall.

    My two picks for unexpected contributions this season are Eddie Rosario and Jason Wheeler. The outfield could be a mess this year, especially defensively. It might be injures or subpar play from the current group, but either way, Rosario is the prescription. Wheeler is on the 40-man roster already so if the Twins need a lefty starter at some point during the year, he'll be the guy they call.

    I think out of all these top prospects J.O. could end up being the most popular among Twins fans for all the reasons Cody detailed. He seems to really enjoy the game.

    Can't wait to find out about all three of these guys at the big league level...Meyer, Berrios, Stewart. We should feel fortunate as Twins fans that we can have a debate over these quality pitchers. A lot of clubs don't even have much worth discussing.

    Anyone know if he loses his mechanics and control with just the change-up and breaking pitch? Or does he struggle with his fastball and wipe-out slider at times too? I know the latter two are his best pitches.

    I could see a scenario where Meyer breaks camp pitching out of the 'pen so he can work with Neil Allen on smoothing out his delivery. Then, if all goes well, send him to Rochester in May to stretch out to starter's innings. Bring him back to the big club by mid-season.

    I tend to think the same thing. A pitcher may come up with a sore arm before opening day. Trades often happen late in the spring. It'll all sort itself out.

    Good point. The third leg of the stool besides lateral quickness and strong arm...good footwork and body control leading to the quick release. Sounds like Gordon is working on that quite a bit.

    Interesting comment by Parker below that I never thought of before: "At short, he has displayed the tendencies of an elite defender with a rocket arm (he hit 94 mph with his fastball during a Perfect Game showcase in high school) which increases his range potential." As a SS ,you can get to balls deep in the whole, behind second base or on the outfield grass, but if you don't have the cannon arm it essentially limits your effective range.

    OK, fellow TD'ers- scenario: The Twins find themselves unexpectedly in the AL Central race at the trading deadline. Maybe a game or two of 1st place. You have three starting pitchers that are going gangbusters but a couple others are scuffling (mix and match however you want). You could really use another proven pitcher down the stretch. Santana & Escobar are doing okay at SS but still unsure about their long-term viability at the position. One of the 2015 crop of free-agent-to-be starting pitchers is available to you, lets say, Cincy's Johnny Cueto. The Reds, however, want Jorge Polanco as part of any deal. Do you pull the trigger on the deal for a two-month rental who could help you take the divisional crown? Or is Polanco too valuable of a prospect to give up, period?

    Rosario is my pick to be the Danny Santana of 2015. If Arcia's back acts up again or Hunter pulls a hammy he should be the first OF called up. Once he's here, hopefully he'll make it tough for the Twins to send him back.

    Extended spring training? No reason for him to go there. If he doesn't make the 25-man he'd go straight to Rochester.

    May is the guy I'd like to see in the rotation. He showed enough promise in September after his rocky start. Somehow he needs to pitch better out of the stretch though...seems he loses his control more in those situations.

    I wonder why the Twins told Stauffer that he would be given the opportunity to start if there's almost a zero chance that he will be the guy? Seems like a bad precedent to set with future free agent pitchers and free agents in general.

    Just my opinion, but I bet Rosario starts at Rochester making room for Harrison at AA. As far as the Chattanooga rotation...lots of candidates. Lee, Wimmers, Berrios, Dean, Adam and maybe either a Duffey or Rogers (depending on the squeeze at AAA). I think Wheeler starts with the Red Wings...promoted him for a game last year already.

    I see Burdi made #99 in the Baseball Prospectus Top-101 that they just released. Pretty impressive for someone that is strictly a reliever.

    I think there are too many good starting pitchers in the AL Central (spread across all 5 teams) for any team to roll into the 90-win plateau. Maybe the winner gets into the very low 90's, but I'm not sure. A lot of parity.

    Thorpe did come to the Twin Cities last Fall to get the elbow checked out so hopefully everything is fine. You just never know with those UCL's though.

    Just giving you a hard time, Jeremy. Maybe by mid-season Max will have "graduated" from the the prospect lists and instead be playing in the MLB All-Star Game in Cincy!
