  1. Anybody hear any word on Baxendale? Hope it's not a long term thing.
  2. Seth- you have Mat Batts listed twice under the K/9 category. Once at 8.9 and again at 9.7. Does one number belong to a different pitcher and which one belongs to Batts?
  3. Agree completely. Especially on Booser, Hildenberger. Brad Steil was just down in Cedar Rapids, so give it a few days.
  4. Zach Granite gets promoted from Cedar Rapids to Fort Myers and doesn't miss a beat. What a spark plug he is at the top of the order.
  5. Tyler Jay would be my pick, right after Alex Bregman. I think he has the ability to help a major league team out of the bullpen in his first season, much like Finnegan did last year. Probably would need to start at Fort Myers or Chattanooga for a short period of time. Would love to see Jay and Alex Meyer setting up Perkins in a pennant race late this season. Next year the Twins could start the transition of developing Jay into a starter.
  6. Would it be a certain lefty relief specialist for Illinois?
  7. Yeah, that volatile delivery has me worried. Could be an arm injury just waiting to happen.
  8. We may be out of luck on the Buxton video. Darren Wolfson over at KSTP tweeted out that the ABC affiliate in Chattanooga left the game shortly before Buxton's homer to cover a soccer game.
  9. Wonder if Steil might be taking a look at a couple Kernels' relievers - Trevor Hildenberger and Cameron Booser? Both putting up some very nice numbers with CR.
  10. If the Twins did draft Jay and go the Brandon Finnegan route it would be interesting to see their bullpen come August and September. A lot of folks thought Nick Burdi and/or Jake Reed would be up by then. With their development slowed a bit, could we see a Tyler Jay/ Alex Meyer left/right setup combo?
  11. Okay...gotcha. Was wondering about that. Thanks.
  12. Hoe does the forfeited 2nd round pick (for Ervin Santana) affect the Twins' pool dollars? Maybe it will provide them a little flexibility in their offers. Wonder if there's a chance the Twins try to acquire another competitive balance pick since they don't have their 2nd anymore, Think I read it will cost an average of $1.8 - $2 mill to sign a comp bal pick between rds 1-2; $800,000 between rds 2-3.
  13. Is it even possible that Buxton could end up with more triples in the season than the league leaders in home runs?! Never thought that could be a likelihood. Now, Buck may not be in the Southern league the entire season so that would put an end to the race. But right now he is neck-and-neck with the HR leaders...Schwarber and ABW. Wow.
  14. I also was one of the TD readers that wanted to tar and feather Peavey and run him out of town. Now he's pitching like he wants to to be the #1 ranked hurler in the org. Baseball's a crazy game.
  15. What about a scenario #5: Dangle Milone on the open market and see what you can get? A lefty starter has to to be attractive to some pitching starved clubs.
  16. Not that high on Gonsalves? Or just left him out by accident?
  17. As far as hitter of the day... tough call, but I've got to go with Buxton. Two extra base hits, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and a stolen base. Great nights by Harrison and Vavra though.
  18. Couple of "Behind The Boxscore" tidbits I noticed from the Lookouts game: 1. At first glance it may appear that Alex Wimmers had a so-so game, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. But a closer look gives evidence of some sheer dominance. Wimmers' first inning was clean with 2 strikeouts. Then between innings 2 and 4 he retired 8 straight Included in that stretch was 6 SO's in 7 batters. He did run into some issues in the 5th, but overall I thought he had a real solid outing. 2. Catcher Stuart Turner picked a runner off 2nd base in the 5th inning. I don't think there's any questions about Turner's arm and defensive prowess behind the plate!
  19. Put me down for Bregman. Think he has the potential to be another Dustin Pedroia (albeit a taller version). Pedroia was drafted as a SS out of ASU before switching to 2B as a pro.
  20. I assume the Bandits have a number of players who were drafted in '14, just like the Kernels?
  21. Good grief. How good are the Quad Cities River Bandits that the Kernels are 21-12 and trail by 5 games!? Looks like an Astros affiliate. I looked through the River Bandits roster and I didn't recognize any names (at least as far as any top-100 type names). They're obviously good though with a 26-7 record.
  22. I agree. If you just look through the prism of their performance today and ignore their backgrounds, Milone edges out Berrios, if only so slightly. Both very solid efforts though.
  23. Yep. I liked the fact that he threw 113 pitches too. Shows that he can hold up well over a 9-inning stint.
  24. Next couple innings are key for Berrios. It's where he's been running into trouble on occasion.
  25. Do we know if there are any roster moves coming for the Red Wings considering the Hicks call-up and the Pryor DL news this morning? Seems like they are playing a couple men short.
