  1. LaTroy Hawkins would make a great play by play man!
  2. Dozier to the Royals for Duffy. Seems fair.
  3. First outs of the game on flies out to the outfielders, right to left. Future trivial question?
  4. Start of a new season with weak ass fireworks......
  5. I'm not worried about Kepler's hitting against lefties. There's not a whole lot of them around and stats are skewed by small sample size. I looked at a couple of his MiLB seasons, and the R v. L splits were pretty comparable. Worse comes to worse: Twins run a righty hitter out there. Same should probably go for Rosario. He got 396 MLB AB's last year. Nice start, more to come.
  6. er, should have been "embracing". that's what happens when you post before 3am.....
  7. I still have my doubts, but at least we'll have a real chance to see what he can to over the course of the season. I don't have any stats prediction, but I'd bet the house on a pretty big 1st half / 2nd half split. This year is about playing more games / innings in a season than he's ever played before.
  8. I'm not so sure about the "most recent injuries don’t have anything directly to do with his pitching arm" commentary. His left [landing] leg was fractured and the mentioned "thoracic outlet syndrome" are no small things when combined. Great news that he's embarrassing the need to change, but I have my doubts about his returning to the 2014 level.
  9. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" phrase of venture (a risky or daring journey or undertaking) 1. proverb You can't expect to achieve anything if you never take any risks. That's what I meant.....
  10. So, Upon Further Review: Park was sent down because there were no open spots on the 40 man roster. Or just waiting to open a spot or 2. Reviewing the current 40, I can think of at least 4 that I could live without. Mejia and Duffey: YES to both. Now then, let's begin the season with moving some dead weight out.
  11. If I remember the commentary from the Twins - Indians games, they were giving Gimenez credit for his work with the Indians' younger pitchers. Trevor Bauer, specifically. Maybe an omen that Falvey and Levine will be promoting more young pitchers?? Hope so!
  12. Thanks for that. I heard the news earlier today and was getting ready to spew. Well, I still have about 220 some posts to read. So, you really never know......
  13. So, Tonkin and Haley are in. Seems like being on the 40 man roster was something of an influence on the decision. Tonkin is 27. Last opportunity? Let's see if the Twins use him in a Juan Berenguer - type role. He just never seemed to be a real "pressure guy" to me. Haley, I don't know anything about him, other than the afore mentioned 40 man roster. So, what happens to Tyler Jay now? And it sounds like they'll need to clear space for both ByungHo Park [definitely] and Chris Gimenez [maybe, maybe not].
  14. I think if people look at some of the latest SP lineups, I think you'd see some integration of analytics in them and less of the "traditional" lineups. Step away from the cliff. Baby steps.
  15. Just watching the way he moved behind the plate in SP showed how big of an upgrade Castro was. Limit his AB's against lefties: Universal agreement on that, me thinks!
  16. "The Fast Track" is the verbiage used by Twins management last week. And I agree. If this means Jay will be the 1st call in from the bullpen and can get 2-3 innings in, I like it. Some/many teams use that format to stretch out RP's and turn them into SP's. Sorry, Cardinals are the only team I can think of just now. I was actually hoping the Twins would have done the same thing with Berrios, but he chose the WBC over SP with the Twins. I'm not criticizing the choice. I just think it would have been better for his career to be in Spring Training. P.S. Jay still needs to get a reliable 3rd pitch....
