I think is fairly obvious that the new management doesn't think as highly of the Twins MiLB RP's. That and the number of guys needing surgery. I like guys who can throw fastballs approaching 100mph, but are these guys throwing beyond what their arms can actually handle?
My view is: once the debacle has started, is it good roster management to put in a rested Duffey or Rogers? A loss is still a loss, no matter how bad it is. Or, how about "Live to fight another day". Yeah, that didn't help me, either...
Falvey and Levine's approach to the bullpen is what I kinda expected. Not to make excuses for them, but they had a late start to the season. At that point, and attempted patch to the bullpen was about all they could accomplish. That being said: Time to get that MiLB merry-go-round a rolling! Get some of those relief pitching prospects up for their auditions! And start digging into other teams MiLB's for starting pitchers. Twins pitchers need to start mirroring the growth/success of the position players. Or, Begone with Ya!
Well, seems like we have a completely burned out bullpen. If for no other reason than that, changes need to be made just for the sake of: Checking the MLB-ready status of the MiLB relief pitchers Begin jettisoning some of those non-performers.Of course, a better starting rotation would help a bunch, too.
A very simple (simplistic?) case for keeping Gimenez: http://www.startribune.com/twins-take-note-of-adalberto-mejia-shaking-off-catcher/424852453/ With a young pitching staff, catcher is more than just a verb...
I'm still a believer in the old saying "as the weather warms up, so do the bats". Give me a call a few weeks after the All Star break. We could see something special. Twins record: 12-14 at Home, 14-5 Elsewhere. Hmm..... Get Sano more rest. Somehow, find another Starter. Use the #5 spot for aggressive MiLB pitcher auditions. Now that Berrios seems to have it figured out, need to see if anyone else could make it.
