  1. A double negative makes it a positive. You need to duck now...
  2. To get rid of Nolasco, you throw in one of the Twins better prospects? This doesn't make much sense.
  3. Ervin Santana is now 33. His value to the Twins would be as an innings eater, giving the bullpen a break while the new starters get acclimated. After a poor 2012 season, he hasn't been that since. Maybe the Rangers think that the Texas heat will bring out Santana's best. I'm thinking that would be a move of last resort.
  4. Playoff contenders are always looking for catchers and relief pitchers after the All Star break. Abad is slowly falling back to earth. Get on the Bat Phone as quickly as possible. Guessing some teams will be calling on Buddy Boshers, too. Besides, Taylor Rogers is ready for a larger roll; more that just a LOOGY. Suzuki will be a prize catch for a playoff bound team in need of a catcher. When taking a "redo" on a team, you just can't get rid of all the veterans. You need some around to prevent the young players from hanging themselves during a bad streak. I'm a keeper on Dozier. I don't think you'll get much in trade. And from what I'm reading, the book is still out on Polanco. His AAA stats are nice, but not the picture-book kind you'd want to see before a callup. On the other hand, I believe he will be called up. I'm also a keeper on Nunez. He's been hitting at a consistent rate. As a fielder, well, he hasn't injured himself too badly. Just like the regular players, you need a veteran presence on the pitching staff. Santana seems the only real logical choice. Nolasco is a 5-6 inning pitcher. The only thing that's consistent about him is the strain he puts on the bullpen. Hughes is on season-ending DL. If even remotely possible, I'd trade Nolasco even if I had to cover part of his salary. Hughes: contact agent, try to get a buy-out deal. Overall: the tryouts have already begun and there's more to come. Almost forgot about Plouffe: He's had more than a few health issues this year. Now he has a broken rib. Let the market decide.
  5. I would think Milone is another DFA. Keep clearing roster spots and see if anything useful out there for the Twins to claim.
  6. Trading away pricey, non-performing, veterans and include a prospect of any kind is the stuff that'll get even a GMinTraining fired, as well as the GM on the other end of the deal for taking on those now inflated salaries. You eat some of those salaries to make those players look more "attractive".
  7. oh wow, Plouffe on DL with cracked ribs No freaking TV..... No word yet on a potential move to activate relief pitcher Trevor May, expected later Monday or Tuesday.
  8. I've read all the proposals and your's is the most realistic. Polanco as a utility player to see what he can really do. I'm not all that sure about Pressly: his windup looks more like a starter than relievers. Then there's that Berrios guy in left field. He seems out of position there
  9. You and I are probably the only one's that get this
  10. If Santana were a real innings eater, I'd keep him around to give the bullpen a break. But at 33yrs old, I don't think that'll be the case. I'd still rather keep him around than Hughes and Nolasco combined.
  11. Maybe I'll have to take that last part about money back. My horoscope for today: "You'll enjoy spending money today, although you'll be happiest if you can do it by yourself rather than have someone tagging along behind you. That's because you're in the mood to part with great slabs of cash and you don't want anyone asking any awkward questions or giving a sharp intake of breath when they hear the shop assistant telling you how much you've spent. But you won't go overboard, will you?"
  12. Pssssst. NextGen Twins has already begun. In order to make this successful, the Twins do need to hang onto some veterans. The prime candidates right now are: position players: Dozier and Nunez, pitchers: E. Santana, Gibson? IDK. I don't see a real dominate personality there. The things we've learned over the past few weeks: Sano will be the primary 3rd baseman, Kepler in RF and steady improvement at the plate, Buxton in CF [making contact at the plate] and Rosario getting back in the swing of things, while providing far better defense than Grossman. And there's more already on this team. Yes, there will be an issue with some of the veteran players: longterm contracts/low output. I'd ping Mauer's agent and see if he would accept a buyout. Hughes and Nolasco: I got no real answer there. DFA DFA and whatever pain there is to move them off the roster. Of course, in that last part, it's not MY money in play
  13. A .211 hitting, backup catcher hit's a double.
  14. yeah, that throw really stunk
  15. Nice catch Kepler. You can stay...
  16. Ah, crap. Matt Bush again....
  17. good thing Sano has a powerful arm
