  1. Except Odorizzi was showing zero signs of trouble thru his 5 innings so there would have been no reason to take him out of the game when the 3rd time came around.
  2. How is it that he can pitch so well thru 5 innings and then all of a sudden, the offense scratches together a couple of runs and he spins out of control in turn 4? With the exception of Berrios and Romero, it's like none of these other starters can get thru 6 or 7 consistently.
  3. Screw the negativity -- this pitching staff is terrible with the exception of just 2 guys
  4. Our starting pitchers are the kings of regifting.
  5. He's gotta do something to get that speed on base and if a few drag bunts is what it takes to wake him up, then so be it.
  6. The scouting report on Bux (and Sano for the most part) is to feed them a steady diet of breaking balls, especially when there's 2 strikes. If I were a pitcher or a pitching coach, I'd make sure those two NEVER saw a fastball. That said, I feel like Bux would be better off if he was more aggressive early in the count when he's seeing decent pitches. I see him take far too many pitches for strikes and once he gets behind, the pitcher has him at their will.
  7. Well done, Fernando. Too bad you had that small bout of wildness late in the 6th.
  8. MLB Network talking about how Hanley Ramirez would fit in with the Twins. I wouldn't mind it.
  9. As an umpire, I don't give much credence to pitch framing. If I see a catcher's glove move back to the plate on a borderline pitch, it confirms to me that it missed. I'm looking at the ball, not how the catcher 'presents it' to me.
  10. Fact -- The Mariners traded for Denard Span Fact -- Denard Span played well against the Twins in the series with the Rays The only thing negative about my post was the fact that Denard Span played well against the Twins.
  11. Mariners traded for Denard Span just in time to torture us again this weekend.
  12. Completely appropriate that a pair of jorts would have Gators logos on it as that is the official garb of a Florida football fan.
  13. I hate to break FSN's graphics producer's bubble but a successful outing by a pitcher does not involve giving up a home run to Niko freakin Goodrum.
  14. Mighty close. Hope this is the beginning of the floodgates opening with the bats.
  15. I'll applaud Lynn for that start. Hopefully none of those inherited runners score.
  16. Now let's see if Lynn can get out of here quickly and back in the dugout.
  17. 5 shutout innings out of Lance Lynn? Are we sure that's Lance Lynn on the mound tonite? Check some ID or DNA.
  18. I'm not the biggest fan of Pressly but if it takes him 8 pitches to get 2 outs and out of an inning, why not trot him back out for the beginning of the next one? You know what kind of effectiveness he has, you don't know what someone new may or may not have. Add that to the fact that the fastest runner is on 1st as the tying run with 0 out and NOTHING is done to attempt an advance (steal, bunt), I wonder just what goes through Molitor's head in clutch situations. This franchise is cursed by mediocrity over the last 6-7 years and it continues to appear that last year was just an aberration. 40+ games in and I can't imagine boat anchors like Lynn, Reed, and Duke turning their ships 180 degrees to the positive.
  19. Leadoff guy gets on and you bring your fastest runner into the game to pinch run and you don't even attempt to get him to 2nd base whether it be by bunt or by steal. I know our bench is paltry for hitters but Jake Cave can't lay a bunt down to get Bux to 2nd? Bux could get to 3rd on his own after that and not have to worry about the pickoff play. There is no clutch in this team from the pitching staff to the hitters to the coaching staff. Incredibly frustrating to watch.
  20. I guess you can read the rest of my post from a few days ago when I lumped Reed in with the rest of our free agent duds. Almost need to scrub this pitching staff clean and start over. At least Romero's serviceable.
  21. F this team. Just forfeit the rest of the games and save yourself the trouble.
  22. This pitching staff.....so freakin bad.
  23. Now that you've gotten into this mess, you might as well walk Maile to set up the force.
  24. Yep...Addison Reed...another glowing offseason pickup.
