  1. Lol, that was well played. No Rochester for him...want him to have better development;) And, it will be fine- he really is not a troubled or mean child at all. Just has a motor that doesn't quit and doesn't nap.
  2. Read somewhere that Bernideno wrote that Meyer was scheduled to pitch a BP session yesterday, but not sure if that transpired or not. Too lazy to find link this morning. Grumpy because my 2 year old got dropped from daycare for being too difficult.
  3. Like, WTF is a 22 LaMonte Wade doing in A ball at this point? Shouldn't he be pushing to be in AA right now, if he's considered any type of prospect? Get them up early, so they can work through it early. Again though, as has been mentioned by others and myself, it isn't jus the success or lack there of by our hitting prospects, but the process that is leading to it. If a guy is having sustained success and his peripherals and process back up his traditional stats, then by all means "he might be ready." But, if a guy is swinging at everything and is succeeding because everything is just dropping, there is little tape or book on him going into games, or facing less electric stuff or breaking pitches, or whatever else you might need to question his success. Sorry, I am never going to believe in Walker and never did as a major league hitter because of his process to how he was succeeding was not good and now its catching up to him, Rosario/Santana/Buxton are verying degrees of talents and prospects, but the are all 'toolsy' athletes that relied on just that to succeed, not their minds. Fast guys are fun when they are lucky, but they are. They should have figured these no discipline guys were bound to struggle.
  4. Lol, I do the same thing and am surprised at how often I see him listed as having an error in the box scores. His bat was supposed to be behind his glove and was given good marks defensively. I realize guys can be better or worse than their first impressions though. Maybe the added weight/strength has him less smooth and fluid with his movements when fielding or something like that, maybe just mental errors, who knows, but I have been looking for comments on it and haven't seen anything written.
  5. So, are they leaving them in the low-minors too long, and or starting them too low in some cases? It seems that maybe guys should be moved up quickly in the low minors if they are showing real success for a sustained time, in order to spend more time in the more challenging, yet still developmental upper minors.
  6. "Sigghhhhhhh." There, I disagree- I kid.
  7. This. I wrote this, but you did it much much better. Get out of my head.
  8. I am less worried about the talent, but think there is definitely a problem with player development as to "what" works at the "next level" and seem like they're content to believe in minor league number regardless of process. These guys have all come up very talented and athletic, but very raw and undisciplined. I don't know what they are focussing on at the plate with these guys to get them ready for the "next level," but I personally feel they are not doing nearly enough or they're doing it wrong.
  9. Twins really seem to have a tough time developing athletic 'toolsy' guys like Santana, Rosario, and Buxton. I think they might just be allowing them to skate by with their superior athleticism in the minors and to hack at anything building no plate discipline. Sometimes their athleticism can carry them for a while in the majors in the way of high BAPIP, but it it not real.
  10. Ugggg, I don't even care anymore. Apathy and over-cynicism has set in. The unthinkable and undependable are now what I expect, so anything positive is now just a plus, but met with "We'll see if this lasts" thoughts on anything Twins decisions and prospects related.
  11. You're right about looking at the K% and BB% yes, but care a little less about GB% personally. It is nice to have a high GB%, but I really only see it as great when the guy also has a good K% otherwise you are just going to rely on good luck and bad luck days where everything is hit at someone, or just sneaks through or over someones head (Gibson and other non-strikeout gb pitchers.) I DO think that the FSL staff is doing well, but am just personally afraid to see what happens to them once they get brought up. It jus feels nice to look at their numbers right now and have some hope and I just don't want that to fade after their call-ups. Stewarts last four starts or so seem more of the FSL environment, than his early season high K% process. Seems to have fallen back a bit lately in the dominant ways and more relying on pitch to contact success.
  12. I don't really want them to promote these guys up to AA until after the break. I don't believe in the FSL numbers at all, but at least they are building confidence for the time they are there.
  13. They probably aren't too worried about Nunez or Dozeir batting behind him, but probably don't want someone on base with Sano coming up with no outs to start the game. Might not matter greatly, but it matters.
  14. Strobe glasses battery went dead. I'd keep him #1, with Sano batting #2 behind him with his high OBP and would help protect Joe. After that something in the mix of Arcia, Park, Dozier, and Plouffe depending on the matchup.
  15. Can't call him that, as he actually has a teammate with that as his first name;)
  16. So technically, no-one has actually even reported a peep on Meyer? Not a single Twins reporter? Weird. The only thing on the internet about it is us typing away here and Seth being bullied into digging into it for us;)
  17. It is a tough position for the Twins. If they bring him back to early it might just be a half-butted commitment to letting him develop his approach and contact ability. But, the longer they wait the closer they get to the date of gaining another year of S2 control. Would be foolish to bring him up within in weeks of gaining another year. Tough situation.
  18. I wonder if might not be something to consider into hiring a minority manager, either Latino or African American. I say this for a handful of reasons. One, there really is not much diversity in our FO or coaching staff, but more importantly to mirror the composition of our core young players. We have 3 caucasian Americans in our starting lineup, and all are 29+ and have been often discussed in being traded or not part of our future (Mauer, Dozier, and Plouffe.) A caucasian American might not be the best choice for relating to this upcoming group possibly. On the other hand our pitching staff is mostly American, and our bullpen is almost ALL American, yet...that is our one Latino coach? Non-white or non-American Young position players that are considered part of our possible core: Sano, Buxton, Polanco, Rosario, Arcia, Kepler, Santana, Escobar, Park, Walker, Gordon, Wade, Javier, Veilma, Walker... Again, the pitching prospects are similar to our MLB pitching roster, in that they are almost all American born and white. Yet, just like our MLB position player roster, almost our our best hitting prospects are non-white or non American born. I think it would be wise to consider this when picking our next manager and hitting coach, as they deal more the with batters, and not as much with the pitchers. It would be a good thing for our organization to have more diversity and could possibly help our position players fell more connected and comfortable (it won't guarantee it, but might help.) This is going to reflect or position player roster for quite a while, so might as well try and make a hire that gives them the best opportunity to communicate and feel comfortable with their manager. Again, this is just something that I personally feel MIGHT help, so don't jump on me here please. I am just a small town white guy myself, but I think this might helpful if and when we look for a new manager. Go ahead and look at our MLB and prospect demographics both for hitter and batters and see if you think this might be a good idea to consider. *I do find it funny that the one Latino coach works with almost all caucasian Americans in the BP and almost all the BP prospects match that demographic too.
  19. With Braves losing yesterday, we now have the worst record in the entire MLB...so #1 pick in '17 hopefully is some almost ready college beast that would help with the current young team to maximize the timing. Drafting a HS kid won't help us too much with this young crop.
  20. Is that not possibly what IS best for his development, and the Twins future? 2+ more months to focus on just hitting and approach, without having to worry about the pressure of the bigs? He'd also still get 2 months of MLB leading off to end the season (if you trusted Molly to bat him there for development.)
  21. I was curious about Buxton's service time, so I did some searching. The first article I found that had the info was here http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/byron-buxton after his demotion. It said that he has 59 more days of MLB rostering and the Twins would lose another season, if I read right? So, would that mean if we kept him down until August, we'd gain another year? If so, I think this would be wise of them, even if he mashes down at AAA. The Twins are in no way going anywhere this year, so I don't think letting him get past those 59 days would be wise no matter the case. Make him work on his plate discipline and stealing down at AAA, which is a legitimate excuse, until August and then bring him up to bat leadoff...so he gets more at bats and chances to get his timing down.
  22. Yeah, there is a pretty big infusion of youth at 3B though and most of them are the better ones in the league. Not a whole lot of stud veteran 3B out there.
  23. Did the person with knowledge hint to whether he would be in the rotation or pen when he got back next week? Weird that DL was not used with this long of a lay off.
