  1. That is what I said none of them do, I was including Margot.
  2. And play them where, none of them play CF.
  3. It was talked about by Perkins that was the game plan because they don't hit 4 seam fastballs well. He needs to set up his fastball with his other pitches.
  4. This is on Rocco and Maki just as much as Zebby. They are trying to get him to throw the high fastball past the hitters like Pablo last night. That is not his game, he needs to use all his pitches. This trying to match up on every pitch and at bat doesn't work. Your players are either good enough or not, let them play with their strengths. They did this to Ober when he got blown up as well, had him focused on using his third pitch.
  5. Are we 3.5 or 30 games out of first place. The way this team acts with no sense of urgency you would think the season is over. They had a day off yesterday, bring him in and make a determination of his availability. This teams plays not to lose instead of playing to win. This is just getting frustrating.
  6. Losing Farmer does not hurt this team, having Lee over Julien makes us better. We need to win the next two games and stop the skid they are on, put your best team out there. Move either one of those out,
  7. It doesn't look like Lee will be here tomorrow, He is not in the lineup for St. Paul and it has been reported he is still in Omaha. Is there no sense of urgency to help this team. They are acting like we are in May and we have plenty of time left in the season.
  8. So instead they keep signing pitchers who have had one good year or they think they can magically fix when no one else can. I don't think their methodology is working, that is when you try something different.
  9. Actually the numbers say they are pretty equal in getting run on-Vasqy has thrown out 9 of 53 runners-17%, Jeffers has thrown out 8 of 55 runners-15%. The pitchers need to hold runners on, but the organizational philosophy is that stolen bases are not important in the analytics world so they don't emphasize holding runners on or to steal bases on offense. So the criticism of Jeffers I think is not completely fair.
  10. the traditional closer role is becoming less defined. This is a narrative that keeps being pushed and it is not true. The winning teams have a true closer and they pitch them primarily in the 9th inning that is what the stats say. Not everyone can close games, it is a mindset along with the skills, remember Ron Davis.
  11. What is the fascination with Stewart and Topa in thinking they will help this bullpen. Stewart has never pitched more than 30 innings in a season so counting on him to be a fixture in the bullpen is foolhardy. Topa is in his 30's and has had one good season, again hoping he can be a fixture is doing a lot of hoping. Get somebody that has a proven track record and can actually help the bullpen.
  12. Yes Santana has been a decent pickup but he should not be leading the team in AB's. He has had one month where he is above league average in OPS. He needs to playing only against LH pitching and used as a defensive replacement. Kirilloff was outperforming him in April and currently Miranda is having AB's taken away because Santana is being deployed everyday at 1B. So no we would not be flailing at 1B without him, but I believe his contributions are being overvalued. Everyone overlooks some of the plays he has missed at first, you have to take those into account along with the plays he has made.
  13. Now we will get to see Margot butcher flyballs in CF, I just don't get this anymore.
  14. And in other games Rocco brings Margot in for defense in the later innings, I have seen better routes on a flyball by a Little Leaguer.
  15. I don't think we will have success outside of the regular season with Falvey in charge, I assume Levine is in lockstep with him or he would have left by now. Their philosophy is to play the odds over 162 games and yes you will have some success by doing that, but in a short series in the playoffs you need to have the better players and we don't because we platoon everyone and worry about matchups, And they set the roster to support this. They have modernized the front office but have done so at the expense of traditional scouting, you need both. I don't think they have developed hitters, we will see if some start to come thru. They try to change players to fit their mold rather than tweaking their existing swing to be more productive. I think blaming the Pohlads is to easy, yes I wish they hadn't cut payroll but Falvey chose to use his limited resources on Farmer, Margot and Santana. And they are all short side platoon players even if they are playing Santana every day even though he can't hit RH pitching above league replacement. It's not like they have Miami's payroll and they did sign two long term contracts.
  16. I agree but then again this is the team giving Lewis a mental reset day when you need to playing your best players against another playoff team. It's not like we only have 30 games left, there is plenty of time to catch Cleveland.
  17. Wallner is showing he needs to be in the lineup every day regardless of who is pitching. Stop with the platoon nonsense and play your best players.
  18. Because the switch hitting slugger Santana needs to be in the lineup everyday since obviously he has a favorable matchup every time he comes to the plate.
  19. It could be the 9 runs in two innings.
  20. They will not start over, read the earlier comments, they will resume from where it ended and it will probably tonight.
  21. In what world do you have Farmer hitting 5th when you are contending for the playoffs.
  22. Farmer was on a rehab so if he had no setbacks, they would have had to activate him within 20 days once he started the rehab. Lee's injury just accelerated the timeline. He probably would have been back on the roster within a week of starting the rehab.
