  1. If some actual proven quality is added to the MLB bullpen roster this offseason, this move is a low risk/high reward thing. If this is the start of the scrap heap that Ryan hopes to form a bullpen from then it's disappointing. Time will tell what he has in mind. History does not leave me with much optimism.
  2. You could do a lot worse than Morneau as your regular full time DH. Actually, looking at this season as an example, I think we did. I see no harm in paying him 9 mil on a 1 year deal. Especially if they move Plouffe and hand 3B to Sano. Go get a stud pen arm and find a way to land Lucroy. HICKS RF BUXTON CF ROSARIO LF LUCROY C MORNEAU DH ESCOBAR SS DOZIER 2B SANO 3B MAUER 1B Not too shabby. Hughes Santana Gibson Duffy Berrios Decent rotation. Perkins May Jepsen Meyer Tonkin Insert Chapman here(I wish) Not Fein or Duensing or Boyer or Graham Bench Suzuki Santana Vargas
  3. Can someone extend Sano's stats over the same amount of games Mauer played this year? Then, also add a Plouffe comparison? That would be interesting.
  4. I can report that I have chapped lips.
  5. This will be unpopular, Dozier to Nats for Ramos, start Polanco at 2b.
  6. Work on the pen as priority number one.
  7. I predict Santana will pitch a gem and the Twins will win 5-0.
  8. What happens if the Twins, Angels and Astros finish in a 3 way tie?
  9. So your saying it's ok to take that risk? I don't want to risk that. Not worth missing by a little and breaking his head. I understand you are angry though. But, it should pass soon....?
  10. I don't want to throw at anyone's head. I just want to do something completely stupid and funny to defuse the situation and maybe make the guy feel a little silly. Don't you think throwing at his head is sort of overboard?
  11. Ok, how about this one.....next time the guy comes up to bat the entire team cups their hand under their arm pit and simultaneously does that chicken wing thing where a fart like noise is produced by their arm pits? Meanwhile, Molitor and Suzuki are standing at opposite ends of the bench like book ends, both bent over mooning him!!!!
  12. I would contend that the two are not the same. Walking Kipnis who has a higher chance of getting a hit to get to a guy who has a lower chance is called strategy. Acting like a moron is something completely different than strategy. My 2-cents.
  13. How about this one....all Twins players and coaches spontaneously step to the top step of the dugot and do a golf clap for him while laughing uncontrollably! The guy would feel about an inch tall!!!!
  14. Molly should have flew out of the dugout with one hand in the air flipping the bird and the other hand cupping his junk and then met him at home plate with a firm kick to his wheeener! Problem solved.
  15. You know what would be funny? I'm sure by now the kid realizes that in the next game there is a possibility that he may get plunked. First pitch thrown to him is a heater that goes 20 feet over Suzuki's head and in to the netting. As Suzuki gets a new ball from the ump he gasps and says to the umpire, "darn it, he was wild as heck in warm ups too, I hope he's not this wild all game!" I would add that I feel shouting at him from the dugout steps to show anger is a much better voice of displeasure than throwing a bean ball at him.
  16. It's like a 7 game playoff series in hockey. These teams have been playing each other a lot lately. I'm sure that contributed to some extent to these teams getting under one another's skin. As for the showmanship on the home run, I put myself in the batter's shoes and try to imagine myself in his situation. I really can't imagine myself doing that in that situation. I would feel like somewhat of a moron. I can understand Molitor and Brunansky getting upset and also Francona sort of admitting it was a bit bush league. I think if you surveyed managers around the league, most would agree it was not very cool.
  17. Yea, I don't know for sure either. I hope he realizes he will be 41 and accepts a somewhat lesser role. It wouldn't surprise me if he chose otherwise for exactly the reason you state. I'm thinking he might have a tough time finding a job as a full time outfielder. More likely, a full time DH. But, I could be wrong.
  18. I think he will be realistic about it. He knows he will be 41 and that he in no way can play the outfield like Rosario/Hicks/Buxton. I think he stays home in Minnesota and accepts a role as DH/pinch hitter/occasional outfielder/mentor. I hope so anyway. But, we'll see I guess.
  19. I don't get the aversion to bringing him back as a 4th outfielder and a bench bat and leader. Who are the current right handed pinch hitter options that are better than him? Who would people suggest are the "hot shot sticks" coming off the bench and playing a game or two a week in the field? Are they impressive enough to send Hunter packing? I'm all ears but I'm not seeing it. Sounds to me like people are worried that he would be used as an every day guy and that just seems a little bit odd to me to think that way.
  20. I just wanted to say that I think DrNeau makes valid points that are supported by data that is factual and non-biased. He did it in a very non-attacking way. I respect that and I am in agreement with the point he is trying to make. I personally would have struggled in the area of restraint and appropriateness on this topic and certainly would not have been able to refrain from using words such as "cupcake" in reference to the named subject of this post. Thank goodness for writers such as DrNeau who have far more class than me.
  21. The Angels bombed Pearl Harbor and we're still standing!!! Now, time to go and win the war!!!!!!
  22. I understand what you are saying. My feeling is that if he were to balloon up like Mark McGuire, then there would be flexibility concerns. No one can convince me that Joe could not benefit from adding a mere 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason.
  23. your point is well made. As a supplement to the cause you are pointing to, would core strength enhance or hurt his getting back in to form?
