  1. Just read that Correa is out for the Astros.
  2. Sano needs a day off after hitting the catwalk? No way. Gotta be something else going on there.
  3. Texas hosts Baltimore while Tampa Bay hosts KC. Do you hope for a sweep in the Texas vs. Baltimore series? or some sort of a split?
  4. Astros are gonna be a tough match up. They hit a lot of dingers, they strike out a lot of hitters, and they steal a lot of bases. Given that we don't miss a lot of bats, have plenty of young bats who love to swing, and a catcher and pitching staff that give up plenty of stolen bases, I don't see this series going well for us.
  5. Why not keep Plouffe and play him at 1st base or keep him at 3rd and convert Sano to 1st? To me, Mauer is the odd man out. Tell me what team has a light hitting first baseman batting .260?
  6. As opposed to Michael Jackson's moon walk which did not include a moon or any mooning. Funny posts to start the morning off. Thanks for the chuckles! Now, on to more serious stuff. I'm of the opinion that any sort of a losing streak of around 6-7 games would pretty much doom any of the wildcard contenders other than the Yankees. If that happens to the Yankees, they'd be flirting with missing the playoffs depending on how other teams perform. So, the first order of business is to avoid extended losing streaks. As Crash Davis said - "A player on a streak has to respect the streak. You know why? Because they don't happen very often." The same applies for a team. From a glass half full perspective, you can see what would happen if a team goes on a 6-7 game winning streak based on what we saw when the Twins went on their recent tear. Granted, it happened to coincide with a couple of teams faltering, but if the Twins or another team were to go on a 6-7 game winning streak, they could easily create a 3 game cushion and then play .500 ball the rest of the way and make it in as a wildcard. Go Twins! Just keep playing solid ball.
  7. Probably need a separate thread for this. I know we would all like to think that any team that makes the playoffs has a shot at getting hot and winning it all, but really there aren't that many teams that are truly good teams this year. KC, St. Louis, Toronto, Houston? I don't watch the Mets or the Dodgers to really get a feel for them. Yankees aren't anything special unless they play us. The rest of the pack is just a bunch of mediocre mush followed by the rebuilders. Who has a legitimate shot of winning this?
  8. What's that you say? It's National Hits Day? Well, then let the Twins hit the ball all night long.

  10. I think Robinson has family down there in the Tampa area. Might have something to do with that.
  11. Robinson in left AND Hunter in right. Interesting. Rosario given the day off. Why? Just because....which reminds me that it is National Just Because Day. Why should we beat the Rays? Just because.
  12. Quick test - who remembers SNL's Chico Escuela? Jane Curtin: And, an embarrassing note: 19-year-old Anita Dark of St. Petersburg, Florida, filed a paternity suit this week, and has claimed that the father is Weekend Update Sportscaster Chico Escuela. Ms. Dark alleged that she became intimate with Mr. Escuela last Spring, when Chico was in Florida attempting a comeback with the New York Mets. On advice from his lawyer, Chico can't comment on Anita Dark, but he is here this week to tell us about sports. Welcome home, Chico! Chico Escuela: Thank you, Hane. Basebal bin berra berra good to me. Anita Dark bin berra berra good to me.. but Chico can't talk about it. In sports, Charles White won the.. how do you say.. Heisman Trophy. Now, look at this run. Charles White is the best football player. He runs with authority. Chico run from authority.. but I can't talk about it. Uh.. Darrell Dawkins does it agian. Look at this. [ show video of slam dunk that shatters the glass backboard ] He break the glass! He break it! Why do they use glass? The backboard should be stronger! Should use cement.. or steel.. or iron. Not rubber! Rubber break! But I can't talk about it. Back to you, Hane. Jane Curtin: Nice work, Chico.
  13. Kate Upton man! Kate Upton! Tell me that you can focus on the strike zone. Work with me man!
  14. Verlander isn't scaring anyone. Gotta be tough to pitch with Kate Upton on your mind.
  15. Rule 5 guy. Right? Can't send him down....time for the fictional injury.
  16. Baseball been berry berry good to Brock Beauchamp! I see this game as one of those where the Twins need to take a lot of pitches, play small ball when the opportunity arises, foul pitches off, and just wear down Archer while limiting any damage on the other side of the ball. Hang in there and get to the bullpen.
  17. Gardy hired as a front office consultant? I got nothing. No nightmares. Here's what I have for a best case scenario... http://www.argusleader.com/story/news/2015/04/29/sioux-falls-sisters-join-vikings-cheerleaders/26587543/ Inspired by the Vikings, the Twins decide to be ground breakers by hiring actual twins to be cheerleaders to run around the ball park clad in Hooters like outfits.
  18. Kepler is in AA and while raking there, his coach has indicated that he isn't ready to be an average hitter in the bigs yet. He'd probably struggle with big league hitting. I can't see putting that into a playoff lineup.
  19. Why can't all 3 be true? I see Pelfrey gone. I don't see the Twins eating Nolasco's contract, but I could see them having to pay quite a bit of it and trade him or have him pitch from the pen to try to salvage some innings. I agree with them offering Milone arbitration as well. I don't see him getting traded though. They could use a lefty in the rotation.
  20. If Berrios innings are a concern, why not bring him up and have him finish the year in the bullpen? It gives him a flavor of the bigs, but doesn't burn him out. It's not like he won't be able to be a starting pitcher next season.
  21. It's baseball and anything can happen, but I'd say the odds are not in our favor. I think 85 is the bare minimum to get in if all goes in our favor. 1. Take 1 of 3 from the Rays (pitching matchups are in their favor). 2. Take 2 of 3 from the Astros at home 3. Take 2 of 3 from the White Sox (sweeps are not common). 4. Take 1 of 3 from the Astros in Houston. 5. Take 1 of 3 from the Royals in KC (they are just better than us). 6. Take 2 of 3 from the White Sox in Chicago 7. Take 2 of 3 at home against Detroit (we are better than them) 8. Take 3 of 4 from Angels a split (they seem to be reeling a bit) 9. Take 2 of 3 at home from Indians. 10. Take 2 of 3 in Detroit 11. Take 2 of 4 in Cleveland Split. 12. and finally 2 of 3 against the Royals as they are resting up. That is 22 wins to give us 85.
  22. I think Texas has 23 games left at home and 16 on the road. Curiously, they are 28-30 at home but 36-29 on the road. If they were to continue that trend, they would finish 11-12 at home and 9-7 on the road to finish 20-19 and 84-78. So, 85 wins could get some team in in front of Texas.
  23. 8 games over .500 would definitely be enough to make me a happy baseball fan...not even thinking about "Playoffs! Playoffs!?"
  24. I have given up hope of a WC spot. Just looking to play out the year, stay competitive in games, and see improvement from some young guys.
  25. Win 1 of 3 and we have a .500 road trip. I'll take it. Go .500 on the road and win 2 of 3 at home and it's a good year.
