  1. Ulgh, insomnia got the best of me. Can one of you moderators add "-- 2015" after his name. Thank you!
  2. Zach Granite DOB: 9-17-92 in Staten Island, NY Height: 6'1" Weight: 175 Position: CF/LF Bats: Left Throws: Left Acquired: Selected by Twins in 14th round of the 2013 draft out of Seton Hall University 2014 statistics: (CDR and GCL, but only listing CDR) 85 PA, .291/.321/.367, two doubles, two triples, four walks, eight strikeouts, one steal, and four times caught stealing. 2015 statistics: CDR: 83 PA, .358/.463/.463, five doubles, one triple, 12 walks, six strikeouts, seven steals, and one time caught stealing. His dominance at A ball earned him a promotion to A+ where he has just four plate appearances. Granite's play reminds me a bit of a lighter version of Nate Roberts. Unfortunately, that also meant injury last year. Granite is a strong leadoff type who can play the OF very well. 2015 prediction: Granite sticks in Fort Myers and finds moderate success. .280/.335/.385 with a first professional home run and a total of 16 steals. Could end up with 30+ doubles.
  3. So, somehow, all of these guys are still available (notables, of course there are a lot more): Cedar Rapids: Tyler Kuresa, Zach Granite, Trey Vavra, Mat Batts, Cameron Booser, Trevor Hildenberger Fort Myers: Chad Christensen, Engelb Vielma, Jason Kanzler, Aderlin(g) Mejia, Aaron Slegers, Todd Van Steensel Chattanooga: Tyler Duffey, Cole Johnson, Tim Shibuya, Alex Wimmers Rochester: Ryan O'Rourke, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Taylor Rogers, Lester Oliveros That's just 20 guys who I would think should be necessarily profiled on this site. Has no one called early dibs on Lewin Diaz yet either?
  4. And with Goulik -- Zaino Henriquez and Carlos Suniago, I think that is everyone so far.
  5. "Riot is the language of the unheard"--MLK Pretty sick of the use of MLK Jr. to argue against these riots. I am also pretty sick of "a few bad apples" when it comes to talk of the police forces around this country.
  6. And dropping. There are plenty of at bats for Pinto. And Suzuki himself isn't overwhelming at the plate or behind it.
  7. Escobar has been playing pretty regularly of late and his OPS has fallen significantly. Are people more confident in his 2014 at the plate than Santana's? If a utility guy can't get his bat going with sporadic playing then there is going to be a problem.
  8. And today was pretty indicative.
  9. In about 175 plate appearances as of right now in 2015, the trio of Vargas, Escobar, and Schafer have a combined OPS of about .470-.475.
  10. .240/.330/.420 is more like it. And that would be very good for a backup catcher/part-time DH.
  11. And the exact same can be said for Santana. It is not like the full minor league history sets them apart offensively either.
  12. Yes, I think last year was the first year that I moved him from the 20-25 range to about 15. He still always had breakout potential, but of course he still needs time defensively at short. He didn't get that last year. Pedro Florimon (defensively) struggled for awhile in a similar way until he played more and worked on making the fundamental plays. I say let Santana play this out, at least until the end of May. And again, are you ignoring (as others clearly are) that Escobar has been even worse than Santana at the plate this year? People around here keep talking about Escobar deserving to play every day . . . and it doesn't make sense with that .475 OPS.
  13. Honestly, I think Vargas should go back to AAA at this point in favor of Pinto. Plouffe and Herrmann can back up Mauer for now at first.
  14. Between the two of them: ZERO walks and 40 strikeouts. Jorge Polanco has started out the season improving in AA from his short time in AA last year.
  15. Santana 2015 OPS = .540 Escobar 2015 OPS = .475 Are people around here generally just ignoring the fact that Escobar has been terrible at the plate this year?
  16. I thought he should have been a September call up last year. I have always liked him too. Now he is going to be a victim of a combination of the Twins holding onto *both* Plouffe and Escobar, and also the love affair with Doug Bernier. One wonders what they would do if Dozier, Santana, or Escobar went down with an injury. Beresford is not Polanco, which is precisely why he should be next in line to fill in for the big club.
  17. I am going to have to find another one, though.
  18. No one is going to trade for Ricky Nolasco in 2015.
  19. I agree with the general rule about pitchers deferring to infielders on infield pops, but that was a bad one. Santana and Plouffe had to run over the mound and that can be a weird thing to do while looking up. Vargas should have probably taken charge, but yeah, Fien was the one guy who didn't have to move at all.
  20. Turns out this excellent performance was enhanced. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/301763801.html
  21. Chris Hayes gives some perspective http://www.upworthy.com/he-shows-how-the-news-talks-about-black-people-by-talking-about-white-people-instead It's important because until you really hear the words identifying "you" (if you are white) you might just not notice how pervasive the whole framing of this is conducted by the mainstream media.
  22. Trey should probably join his brother at Fort Myers too.
