  1. Wait we are talking about the same ball in the second inning, right? Because your characterization is flat-out false. I watched it several times. It landed several feet beyond and away from him. I am alarmed by this. you weren't the original poster about this in the game thread, obviously.
  2. It isn't clear to me why I have to say this for the 7th or so time. Look at Hicks' minor league development. Ok, *nothing* warranted a move to MLB in 2013. It was stupid, especially as a leadoff man. He should have spent 2013 between AA and AAA. 2014 would have been his AAA/MLB taste on a normal schedule for him. If this were the case, his 2013 numbers might be about .760 OPS and his 2014 numbers in AAA at least post .700. If one thinks of his 2014 time in the majors as his true first time in the majors, then it is not that egregious of an output. He just has to make more contact and increase his slugging. These are improvable skills. Schaffer and Robinson as what? Improvements for a *rebuilding* team? What kind of craziness allows for this to be reasonable on any level?
  3. I know of one. What else? And is that the kind of thing that is really going to mean a roster decision favoring the likes of Shane Robinson? haha!
  4. I am just asking not go give up on EVERYBODY (other than Dozier) from that 2011 NB team: It was Dozier, Herrmann, Parmelee, Benson, Bigley, Solarte, Romero, Singleton, and Chang.
  5. And, uh oh, Shane getting wound up . . . I read in the game thread for yesterday's game that Hicks clearly misplayed a ball in the second inning allowing an extra base. I dare anyone to watch that again and say the same dumb thing. That ball was clearly by him. Good god. There is a weird attitude up in here if Shane Robinson is considered a major leaguer and a prospect like Hicks doesn't get the now appropriate chance. Hicks should be in CF and May should be the 5th starter. Hopefully the bullpen can have some gas tossers. Without Oliveros and Tonkin, though, yikes.
  6. Personally, I pick Herrmann over Nunez. Then Rosario is the first replacement for anyone in the OF, Vargas, or Mauer injuries (various shifting) unless it very, very early and I promote Danny Ortiz instead. Infield injuries? Polanco is the easiest answer. It would be nice if they moved Beresford to the 40 man though.
  7. Wait, what? What is the fascination with CF? There should be none. The 2016 and on answer is solved. Aaron Hicks clearly works until then. Everything else is just stupid. It's just stupid.
  8. The roster is going to be: Suzuki, Pinto, Mauer, Vargas, Dozier, Santana, Plouffe, Escobar, Arcia, Hicks, Hunter, Schaffer, and Nunez OR Herrmann. Hughes, Santana, Gibson, Nolasco, May or Milone, Milone or May, Pelfrey, Stauffer, Graham, Duensing, Fien, Perkins Or one of those losing starters is replaced with Thielbar.
  9. May is clearly the better choice than Milone. It isn't even funny at this point.
  10. Interesting. More reason to think that the system might remain deep for 2016.
  11. Good article. I really like how you start out!
  12. This bullpen, by the way, is unsustainable. If Stauffer isn't good (as in, is mediocre or worse) then there is likely a big problem. I don't trust Duensing, Thielbar, or Fien to get better. Pelfrey . . . well everyone knows what I think there. I probably would work out a trade to put Graham in AAA right now, *just release* Pelfrey and add Pressly and Oliveros.
  13. I commented on Barrie there too. People: you now have Seth, Thrylos, and me saying the same thing about Jack Barrie. Agreement from the three of us on a guy in the low minors in particular is probably rare. So, watch Jack Barrie! Anyway, good stuff. I like the way you started this with the Rodriguez dad and son. Dereck is another guy to watch this year like Barrie. It could all come together. And the thing is that as a pitcher, he isn't that far behind in his development now.
  14. Duffey is in the Travis Harrison boat for me. These guys are tradeable assets. As in a deadline deal with some MLBer headlining with Harrison and Duffey as support. Neither one has a spot on this team in the future. Shipping by July 31st could be quite useful.
  15. For whatever reason, Eduardo Nunez is still on the team. Given this and Herrmann's option, clearly Nunez will be the last bench spot. I do think that it is finally time for Herrmann to be able to contribute with a .260/.340/.340 kind of line and real versatility defensively. Nunez is potentially already in decline phase of his career and might bring a .650 OPS at best. Shane Robinson shouldn't be in consideration. I don't know how many times I have said this.
  16. Nunez does not have power and is not really a veteran either. He can't play defense well anywhere. So . . .
  17. Yes! I am glad you profiled Barrie. I am counting him as a very-under-the-radar guy who should be a top guy to watch at the lower levels.
  18. Sure, and you are correct in general. AAA in 2013 would have been pushing Hicks. Now I do not think that Rosario needs a full season between AA and AAA this year. I think he and Sano should come up together if they are both doing well enough.
  19. Beresford is going to improve this year at AAA. The Twins could sell high on Escobar and it would end up working well for them.
  20. Rosario has almost no success at AA. Hicks is improving. It isn't his fault that the Twins rushed him a full 1.5 seasons too early.
  21. It really is going to come around for Hicks this year. I am predicting a .730 OPS, which is a fantastic improvement over what we have seen so far.
  22. While I eagerly await T-Wolves coverage, the addition of soccer is a very good idea. I would visit that probably more than the Vikings and Wild sites.
