There are already a couple of catchers on the roster, and they need to learn how to handle themselves in the bigs.

The past 20 years of Democrats rolling over tells me that. Bill Maher's latest rant said it all. Democrats have become the party of saying the right things but doing nothing, esp. when the task at hand is challenging Republicans.

The House votes to impeach and with the Tea Party controlling the Republicans in the House, an impeachment is not happening any time soon. As a Senator, Warren cannot impeach anybody. She needs to be drumming up support by networking and working on legislation.

As far as I can tell, people are protesting so that someone in Washington will act, particularly people in Congress. Warren in Congress. She should be writing appropriate legislation and working with her peers to drum up support. If Warren's only option to fix a serious problem is to make a speech and go to a protest, this country is already lost. Warren also rubber stamped some of his cabinet nominations. Mass media does have problems. Largely they roll over when things get tough much like Democrats do. Granted, few of us are able to deal with rabid, screaming people very well. Realize that the far right took over German in 1871. In Germany, it was 40 years before conservatives started truly acting on what they had been preaching. German nationalism gave the world two world wars and the mass murder of minorities. With today's rapid mass media this is likely to happen much faster in the US. Nevertheless, we have to be prepared to fight this battle for the rest of our lives. It did not begin with Trump and it won't end with Trump. The stakes are higher at the moment than any of us can even fathom. This is a key moment in US and world history. Most of us are realizing we must do something, but we still don't know what we can truly do. Lawyers are doing a good job, the rest of us are still trying to figure things out.

ML starter or not, Gibson is probably the #2 or #3 on that list. Vogelsong would be the #3 or #4 if put on that list. It would be surprising if Hughes is DFA'd due to the money involved, even if that's the right option. May is a better option than Hughes and any of the young guys, at least for now. This is still a razor thin SP staff.

Thanks for clarifying that the lack of moves wasn't because leadership simply did not know anything yet. That idea was ludicrous. It's nice to see that the Twins are working on organizational culture. I did not realize the internal culture had become so bad. From the outside it certainly seemed like it was a pleasant place to work. I would offer the idea that you can build a culture while making moves, though. There are always a lot of plans in motion with any organization. I'm not saying that people did not make an effort, mind you, it would have just been nice to see a step forward.

This should be up to the manager. It is the manager who has to manage the pitching during the game. A manager would be dumb to not be as big of a part of the pitching personnel decisions as possible. The manager should also be deciding the bench players.

I believe, and I hope the Twins agree, that the Twins already have plenty of homerun power and plenty of DHs.

Rachel Maddow, Al Franken (when he was broadcasting), Bill Maher, the Comedy Central crew (then and now) *all* call out people on the left when they act up even though they are all clearly liberal. Heck, even today, this was called out by a member of Trump's cabinet as the reason Trump won. If there is a stubborn, disdainful left I haven't seen it. The right certainly describes this existing in vivid detail, but it's a fantasy.

They already compete. The minors are full of both college and high school draftees performing at similar levels. Whether you get a good player out of HS our out of college, you can bank on him spending ~3 years in the minors.

I'm not sure you read what I wrote. The RIGHT has been using "scientific racism" as you call it ON THEIR OWN BASE. They call out the LEFT as attacking their base, which HAS NEVER HAPPENED. The purpose of this is called SCAPEGOATING. Almost all of the disdain for the right base is from the right elite. The left made the mistake of not fighting this when it started 20 years ago. Perhaps those on the left thought it was obvious b.s. to most people and believed it would go away on its own. Instead it grew. As for Hitler, he took the reigns over a Germany that had this same thing going on for a few generations. One side was being demonized long before Hitler came to power. Heck, long before WW1, which is what the history books tell you. The racism in Germany leading up to WW2 started in 1871 when Germany was unified. Numerous scholars of the day wrote that Germany needed its own cultural identity and until it had one it would be a weak nation. This meant exterminating those who did not fit. By the time Hitler came to power, there were enough people buying into this idea that made his task relatively simple. Trump too has taken over the reigns of a system that was put in place years earlier. In fact, I think he took over the system by surprise. Right now the Republicans are rolling with it, using him to get what they want. But they did NOT mean to create this person, they only meant to program their base to demonize the left. Trump started aping the propaganda the right were using in mass media, but the Republican politicians never had the courage to say themselves. This made them lose control of the party.

Heck, you don't even have to get into it that way. There's the whole "this asset is worthless to us, but is worth something on the market" coupled with the "we are starving for this other resource" aspect. He's just a mere #3 guy? So what. The team currently has a #2.5 guy and 7-8 #5.5 guys. An opportunity was missed to make a HUGE improvement that would actually have saved the team money. This is sort of like the old, "Dude, you had ONE job" meme. Or maybe it's, "Keeping doing the same thing but expecting a different result."

There have been numerous reports that state that a 1:1 trade was never the deal. Not sure why some Twins fans keep saying this was the deal. Maybe it's to feel better about it falling through?

It's not much of an argument. Look at the data. Once side holds more intellectual capacity than the other. This is a fact. The less intelligent half feels like they are being attacked by the smarter half, even though this has never happened. Propaganda only works when a scapegoat is created. The right hates their base so much that they have tricked them into voting for them and tricked them into hating the only group who has ever stood up for them. We definitely do not need to be open to hearing opinions that history has proven to be dangerous and irresponsible. It's often (and accurately) said that it's not the people on the fringe who are dangerous, but the people in the middle who want to play nice and let the fringes do what they want. This is what you are advocating. There is a group who have been consuming propaganda for 20 years. They need to be deprogrammed. Pandering to their inaccurate view of the world will only make their illness worse and give those who want to harm them and the rest of us more power. Take a stand, man. A lot depends on it.

Though Trump voters would fight against what they believe to be postmodernism to the tooth and nail ... yes, they are the group who live in that realm the most. But that's because they don't know what it means, they just see it as a vague term thrown around by those icky smart people or perhaps as a bizarre art form.

Every business of this size knows how to handle deferred revenue and deferred expenses as clients typically pay them on the yearly or monthly level (or whatever) and paying bills is usually at the yearly or monthly level (or whatever). The Pohlad accountants are probably high experts on deferred revenue tactics and heck maybe they even invented the ****. What can we do to get Hollywood Rockstar Pohlad brother Bill to run the team? His film production resume is impressive and I bet he knows how to get stuff done.

OK, so they might be the 14th worst staff in the AL instead of the 15th with the same staff if they all improve. Even the rookie free agent market probably has a few guys on it who have a sub-5.00 ERA potential.

I'm saying the team is pinning their hopes on that not being the case rather than making moves to ensure that's not the case.
