  1. I would call it a healthy dose of sarcasm and a wake up and smell the coffee evaluation of the Twins as an organizational whole. I'm not blaming Derek Falvey or Thad Levine for what has transpired, because they are just getting their feet wet within this organization. It just appears from an outsiders perspective like more of the same that's all.
  2. LOL. Quite correct. Once of the best starting pitchers of the early 2000's and they got NOTHING decent in return with the exception of one raw outfielder whose had a history of issues since getting called up. Probably one of the worst trades the franchise ever made with the exception of the Erickson trade. Can't scout, can't negotiate, can't trade, can't develop raw recruits down on the farm, total dysfunction and the rest of the league knows it. suckers!
  3. Yep. I remain convinced that the new FO believes the rotation will see dramatic rebounds this season from Hughes, Gibson and Duffey. If Santana pitches like last season and they get some production from either Berrios or May with Meija as insurance, team should be able to win 95 to 100 games right? last to first all over again and then world series. Who needs JDL or Alvarez?
  4. LOL. Would like to see an update from Dave on this. Not surprised as long as this has been taking; finally we can lay this thread to rest and continue with our lives
  5. Wouldn't surprise me one iota. This is taking way way WAY WAY TOO LONG.
  6. Ehhh.....I'd wait another two seasons. None of the guys has been consistently productive yet. Way to early yet to commit big bucks to them IMO.
  7. I doubt it. This is taking far too long.
  8. I was about to say i've read some prospect reports about him and are not impressed.
  9. I think the Dodger are jumping the gun on Bellinger. He's only played 3 games at the AAA level. Pretty big jump from AA to AAA but i understand their enthusiasm in him to this point.
  10. I think the Twins are content with what they have right now which is a mistake in my opinion. Sure they would like to upgrade the rotation but it appears to be that they clearly think / have high hopes that Hughes, Gibson and Duffey all rebound dramatically this season and Santana picks up right where he left off despite being 34. Then you have the wild cards in May, Berrios & Meija. They have to do better this season, right? Trading Dozier to the Dodgers would have happened if they were willing to give up more than just JDL and junk. The Dodgers know they were the only suitor for Brian and have consistently low balled I think. I don't blame the FO for not going through with it. That said, if the offer EVER included Alvarez and JDL in the same package (which i doubt), I would consider it a failure on the Twins part to not accept such a deal even if the third piece was AAAA filler or a low level wild card.
  11. Because he's had health issues and doesn't project as a top of the rotation starter more like #3 or #4 at best.
  12. They are gambling on Hughes recovering to what he once was, Santiago pitching closer to his career averages pre 2016, May stepping back into the rotation and pitching effectively, Berrios taking off and never looking back, Duffey developing his changeup, etc. Meija as backup.
  13. I will say though that if Alvarez, JDL and AAAA filler were ever on the table i'd consider this a failure on the part of the Twins FO.
  14. He's only broken 100 innings in a season once (2015).
  15. Yep. The Dozier potential deal is pretty much dead. Doders are already looking elsewhere for options. That's okay they tried to low ball the Twins the whole time with JDL and junk. I don't blame Twins management one bit for walking away. Even if Dozier regresses a bit he's still worth more than an oft injured JDL who has only pitched more than 100 innings once in the minors.
  16. I think we can officially call this deal dead, busted, etc. Dodgers are close to signing Cuban Second Baseman Jose Miguel Fernandez.
  17. Well Alvarez isn't going to help the Dodgers win now. He's thrown 59 innings of A ball. he won't be in the majors for at least 2 seasons, probably 3 full season at the absolute earliest. If the Dodgers TRUELY Want Dozier there gonna have to pay a fair price. The Twins aren't going to give him away for nothing because LA has unlimited money and a god complex. None of the potential return prospects has proven a SINGLE thing yet with the exception of Urias.
  18. Bit of stretch calling JDL a future #2 or #3. The guy can't stay healthy. He's only logged more than 100 innings ONCE in his minor league career. De Jong is at best a #5, but more likely a RP. Sheffield is more valuable than De Jong.
  19. This whole imminent trade thing is a scam. Nothing is going to happen.
  20. The question is why?
  21. Yes, but it's not what they are looking for.
  22. the Twins aren't really interested in Bellinger or Verdugo. Pitching is what they are truly after. De Leon has only exceeded 100 innings once in his minor league career dating back to 2013. He has a persistent history of shoulder problems and other health problems. Pretty troubling for a center piece of a trade. On top of that his major league debut couldn't have gone more poorly in 2016, getting clobbered in the first 4 games overall. Alvarez the other rumored piece is only in A ball and yet to exceed 60 innings of minor league experience. Sure the dodgers invested a ton of money to get him to this point but proven next to nothing nor pitched a single inning of major league ball. Hardly a center piece of a deal either. Finally, Brock Stewart. He is probably the most reliable of the before mentioned players having pitched in 7 games last season. Again however he has not excelled by any stretch of the imagination. What is the common denominator in all of this? None of these prospects has proven a dam thing yet. The Twins would be INSANELY CRAZY to trade a 6+ War second baseman who hit 40+ homeruns for just JDL.
  23. yawn....more 1 for 1 talk again. Twins are NEVER going to go for that no way.
  24. Either way this is all coming to an end soon. Twins have stated as such out of fairness for Dozier. I expect if we don't hear anything by Sunday it's dead dead. Or until the Dodgers realize they NEED Dozier more than they initially thought, which would probably be mid season.
  25. I would be happy with that. JDL and Stewart could enter the rotation mix almost immediately, Alvarez in a couple of years. Dodgers should be too. Still have Beuhler, Sheffield and Urias.
