  1. Any reason why you lump Lagares with the others? Seems to me that there is an obvious jump in talent/production compared to others. I don't see him as much of an upgrade.
  2. It wouldn't make any sense to trade prospects/established players for a 1-2 year rental when the the team is so far away from contention. If this was the Twins in the past decade, yes the move should have been considered because the team was a contender.
  3. These youngsters need a lesson about being "Minnesota Nice." On a serious note, either Vargas has learned to draw a walk or the pitchers can't throw with a nickle because he hardly had any walks in the majors last year.
  4. I remember reading about him in a book that followed the cape cod league when I was a teenager. Kinda cool that he's on the Twins now.
  5. My friends would laugh at me if I called Phil Hughes an "Ace." Personally, you have to have more then one good year to be considered one. I wouldn't even call Kluber an "Ace" right now. Dominant pitcher? Yeah maybe but I want to see more. Same for Hughes even though hes not dominate (real good).
  6. Something like that haha
  7. Yuck. He's going to be horrible. Going from the NL to the AL and last year was just an abnormally.
  8. Yeah I think everyone's thinking that they would be buying high on Escobar. If Escobar can have another nice year then he might get some interest. Remember only like two years ago everyone overlooked Dozier.
  9. Next move will be a trade. Either Pinto or Meyer will be moved. Yes I said Meyer.
  10. Hope they pick some starter with a heavy fastball and stick him in the pen. Worth a shot imo
  11. We should be like the Dodger's and sell high on players that are overachieving like Gordon. Dangle Danny Santana or Eduardo Escobar for someone?
  12. I'm at the point, I wish they would trade him. His best years are behind him and I'm okay with him leaving. Plus he's a below average 1st baseman and they could put Vargas at 1st and move Arcia to DH. And mix and match according to the opposing pitcher. Not to mention the payroll would get some relief.
  13. White Sox just got revelant pretty fast. Something the Twins should look to replicate. Last year, they only had Sale and Quintana. Now they got Abreu, Laroche, the Shark, Robertson and Duke. That rotation is going to be tough to beat especially when Carlos Rondon joins in soon. And even if the Shark does leave they can get a compensation pick, not bad for Siemen or whatever his name is.
  14. Wow did anyone look at Crick's walks per 9? That's kinda high, makes Alex Meyer look like a control freak.
  15. I only count 3, Scherzer, Price and Hamels. Before last year, Lester had a 3.75 era and a 4.82 before that. An ace doesn't put up those numbers especially the 4.82. As for Shields, he's an innings eater. Zimmerman is close to an ace but I wouldn't label him that yet, I want to see another great year. Fister is a number 3, Porcello is a 4 at best. Samardija (sp?) is a good number 2 option. The above poster mentioned Cueto who is a boderline ace only because he has problems with injuries so that hurts him. Latos is a great number 2 but hes not an ace. The label Ace gets thrown around a lot but there is only like 10 Aces in the game.
  16. Imagine how much he would take home if he had his "wheels" still underneath him
  17. Milone also pitched in a very friendly park. I would rather take a chance on Medlen or Beachy from the Braves.
  18. No he's terrible still. We would probably look forward to Nolasco's starts more if we had him. Which explains it.
  19. World series here we come!!!
  20. Its a problem for every organization. My buddy is a Cubs fan and the top prospects (Baez especially) have trouble taking walks. Luckily, our top two prospects realize the value in taking a walk.
  21. I read this yesterday and they seemed less then enthusastic about Rosario. Time will tell though. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/standout-prospects-from-the-afl-title-game/
  22. 17 million per year??! Offer him 13 at the highest or walk away.
