    If the Twins begin to slip a little bit in the standings, I'd like to see him brought up to see if he could help. Maybe he'd give the team a little shot in the arm. I don't think that we should compare batting averages or slugging percentages with guys like Bryant because I don't think he's going to be that type of a player, but he will bring things that these other guys can't. I don't think that he needs to be rushed because of Bryant or Correa. I think the Astros have really pushed a lot of their prospects, because they didn't have any major league talent in the last couple of years until now. Cubs haven't either. But then again, maybe the Twins don't either! We've been super conservative on how fast we bring guys up, other than with Hicks. I think that experiment may have them a little gun shy. I want him up. We all want that shiny new toy, and this one could be fun.

    Pretty happy for the guy. As much as I wanted to see him go for the last two years, I'm glad he's having the success that he is. It had to be hard coming back from TJ and not being able to throw like he was used to. Not only that, but he's been ridden extremely hard by 99% of Twins critics out there, me included. Good for him, keep it up. Also you've gotta respect his optimism and confidence, he hasn't been one to hang his head and make excuses.

    Mauer seems to me like the man that should make a move to the OF. We have Vargas and Sano, two guys that are going to be too big to play anywhere other than 1B or DH. I'm hopeful that Vargas' swing and power will come around and he can be a middle of the order guy. Sano hopefully pans out like with think he will. Two big bats with big power and no place to put them? Sorry Joe, get out the OF glove. We can't leave pop like this on the bench or AAA. I like Plouffe, he seems to have taken the veteran leadership role on a little bit, I feel like we need him to be where he is.

    Gibson: K/9 is terrible, but sinkerballers aren't known to depend on the K. K's are sexy, but W's are more important. As long as he's getting the ground ball outs, I'm loving it. Hughes: Should improve. Pelfrey: Should not improve. He's 2 years removed from TJ, and maybe healthy for the first time since becoming a Twin. Maybe he's better than what we all have grown to expect out of him. Trevor May: He's going to take his lumps just like Gibson did in his first full year in the bigs. It sucks to see that, but that's what it could be for a while. At least he's not a 10-year vet getting shelled. Nolasco: I wish he'd disappear. I agree with Blake. He will KILL our team ERA. Hopefully he can rattle off 5 straight wins so we can dump him on someone soon. I like the direction of the staff a lot, other than Nolasco. We could be building a consistent rotation that can keep us in ball games. We still don't have that top of the rotation winner/horse to lean on in a playoff series. Berrios?

    I don't know anything about options, but it seems like Hicks has been up so many times in the last few years. Maybe they didn't want to waste another on Hicks if they're assuming Arcia will be back soon. Rosario hasn't played as well as Hicks has this spring so far. Going by numbers, it should have been Hicks. I don't think he's on Molitor's good list. I can't wait for Buxton to arrive. I'm really hoping he can get there soon. That place will go nuts if he's even close to an average player. The future is getting closer!

    Molitor isn't a coach, he's a manager. It's not like he's teaching all these players something that they don't know. He has to put people in a position to succeed, which in the Twins' case is impossible. Nolasco, Hunter, Stauffer, and Santana have all been hugely overrated pickups. Even if Santana had started the season, he would have been a .500 pitcher at best. A Twins fans, we're trained to think that that's a great signing. We couldn't have known that he'd be suspended, but he's a .500 guy playing for the Braves and Angels... he wouldn't turn into a winner here. Until they sign legit talent in free agency and develop their so-called superstars in the minors, we'll continue to be in the cellar. Terry Ryan NEEDS TO GO!

    A professional would take the job given to him and force the team to make the change. It bothers me that he feels like the job is his, he hasn't done anything since he's gotten here. The only thing that should be his is is a ticket elsewhere.

    How many prospects have we waited for in the last decade. Prospects are prospects and that is all they should be labeled as in my opinion. We finally get a guy up last year (Santana) that can really play and produce and now we talk about trading him so we can wait for another prospect. No way. If it works, you better stick with it until these "prospects" become players and push these professionals out. We've got a bird in the hand and about nine in the bush, take what we've got in the hand.

    I don't care what he weighs, I don't hear a lot of concerns about Big Papi or Miguel Cabrera. If he hits 30-40 home runs and drives in 100 runs, I could care less if he's 350. Maybe he'd be more suited at first base if he gets too big for third, thats just the ways it's done now days. Ask Pujols. Tell Mauer to out produce these guys or get his outfield glove loosened up. We can't afford to look past production like these guys could have. If they don't produce, then obviously Mauer will stay. Vargas and Sano could be HUGE run producers somewhere along the line. If they can't be moved, move someone else.

    The curve does seem like a lost art. It would be interesting to see what percentage of pitchers in the past ended up on the DL compared to today. I don't think that it is strictly because of pitchers not throwing a curve, I'm guessing it's more of a velocity thing. Everybody in the major/minors and their little sister throws in the 90's. 25 years ago, it wasn't assumed that everybody had that and it wasn't a prerequisite to become a professional pitcher. I wonder how many Greg Madduxes slip through the cracks these days because they can't throw 90? Getting hard to watch every prospect make it to the bigs, only to hurt his arm, lose his velocity and the ability to get somebody out because his velocity has slipped 3 mph. All of that being said, I do understand that a mid to high 90's fastball is much harder to hit than a slow curve and I know why pitching has gone the way it has.

    Couldn't agree more. Keep bashing that ball off of or over the wall and I could care less about his on base percentage. Fact is, the guys that are getting on base in front of him better have their running shoes, or trotting shoes on because they're probably going to score. I love the swagger too. This team needs a leader and an identity and I think he's a guy that can give this team a little bit of an attitude.

    I'm not saying they're not worth anything at all. Everyone thinks that Meyer/May could be good players down the road. But if you're a Twins fan, the guys down in the minors aren't doing the big club any good at all. It's hard to get excited about our supposed depth when our 'talent' hasn't made it yet.

    I guess I just can't get that excited. Drop off of potential? I don't find it impressive to have a starting rotation of #5 starters and 3 guys in the minors who for some reason haven't beat them out yet. The Twins have to find a new way to evaluate pitching talent, whether through the draft, trades, or free agency. We haven't produced a pitcher for a loooooong time. Gibson is getting there, and I hope he stays on an upward path. Average pitching depth is not impressive. Two or three studs at the top of the rotation are. ACES win games in the playoffs boys, not sub-par pitching depth.

    I agree with you Hosken. Why has Deduno not been given more chances to start? He has won games and seems to have legit stuff. Maybe Gardy and Andy don't think that he pitches to contact well enough?!? I was high on Pelfrey to start out the season thinking he's two years removed from TJ, but I'm one or two more train-wreck starts away from hopping off that train. I'm okay with Correia, Gibson, Hughes, and Nolasco at this point, but lets get Deduno a start and see what he can do. I'd love to see Meyer/May up at some point too, but lets see who else gets derailed first.

    I agree with you S. Three games against the Astros vs. 3 games against the Yankees/Red Sox/Rangers are two completely different things.

    I think the Twins just know that Suzuki knows how to get pitchers to pitch to contact, we all know the philosophy! I'd rather have Suzuki back there than any of our other current options.

    Having also been at that game, I would be too embarrassed to show my face in the same place as him. Could I look him in the eye today??? No way. That had to have been one of the worst moments ever for MN sports. It's just hard to think of him as a Twin anymore. I actually watched Game 7 of the 91 Series on youtube the other day (sloooooww tuesday!) and must admit that he was a heck of a player in those days. Twins Hall??? Hard to take anyone from the mid to late 90's for me, other than Radke.

    I wonder if they shut him down as just a precautionary thing? I would think that if they looked at it and gave him a "clean bill of health" that it probably is clean. I don't think they'd take any chances on "The Future." If not, they're not doing him any favors by making him wait until spring training to find out. I also don't wanna think about this! Ever since starting to log on and read on twinsdaily I find myself staring at prospects and wondering what we'll be like down the road. It's exciting to think of these prospects as being Cabrera and Trout in 2016, but they're just prospects at this point. I wish I could get more excited about the big league club right NOW.

    I don't understand why people think the rotation seems set and that there is no room for Garza? Slide him in at the top and push everyone else down a notch. Nolasco and Hughes are decent pitchers, would not be a 1-2 on any playoff team.

    I don't know a lot about Kohl Stewart and in no way am I criticizing your top 10. 20 innings in the minors last year? The kid likely never gave up more than a run or two in a game in high school and now he's in there with the big boys. There will probably be a few ups and downs for him in the next few years and hopefully he can handle the downs that he probably hasn't had much of yet. Lot of pressure on this kid, but I guess that is what the first round tag brings. Buxton has done it so far, hopefully Stewart can as well.

    I too like the idea of Pineda, I just don't think that the Yankees will go for a prospect at 2B. They are built to try and win NOW and always have been. I'm sure they'd take one of our prospects, but only for a bunch of 'go-nowhere' prospects in return. That's just how they roll.
