  1. From what I read great contact guy and that is where it ends. That and not playing since 2014, between his layoff, a lack of impact tools (his speed, power and fielding are all below-average). yawn...
  2. Has not played since 2014 and is 28 years old. The money was probably not very high. Gotta almost laugh if this is the best LA can come up as a scare tactic to drive down Dozier's price tag. If LA pulls that stunt the Twins should just call their bluff and wish them luck and wait for them to crawl back to you and pull the trigger.
  3. During the regular season I thought a player goes through NL waivers before the Twins would get a crack at them.
  4. Of course the player doesn't care. Obviously the deal is done and just not turned in to make official. The problem is he is their 41st player on the 40 man roster. So then all teams should never drop a player when they sign a player until spring training starts. Nothing like a 44 man roster for some teams.
  5. Key word is "if". Dozier is an established player with a track record. JDL has pitched 17 innings in the majors. The Twins would have to get at minimum one more player rated in top 15 to be worth the risk.
  6. I think Houston was one of the first teams to get smart and sign a player who would sign for less money so they could draft players that fell with the saved money.
  7. That is a joke. You know who else attending his wedding and managed to get his deal finalized? That would be Justin Turner. Still can't believe MLB lets things slide through the cracks.
  8. Makes the whole JDL straight up for Dozier laughable when they need to clear 2 spots if they finally resolve this issue.
  9. It's not really waiting when the deal is done but they are just circumventing rules to their advantage for the time being.
  10. I know but it still bugs me that a team can be allowed to technically beat the system with a handshake deal. Just watch if a Dozier deal actually happens Jansen's agreed deal will become official a day later or so.
  11. I have sort of a Brian Dozier related question that has been bugging me for almost a month now. The Dodgers resigned Kenley Jansen back on December 13th but still have not made a spot on their 40 man roster. My take is they planned on moving at least 2 players from their 40 man roster in a possible Dozier trade. But how is it possible to I guess not technically make a deal official since you don't have room on the 40 man roster. To me it seems shady that a team doesn't have to follow rules that are enforced during the season. The offseason should be treated the same you would think. I would think someone like Seth would know how it actually works.
  12. I would rather hold onto Brian Dozier if this is the deal. Worst case scenario you could throw Dozier out there in July if he has a decent year.
  13. I agree and would add Dozier would become a fan favorite where ever he landed. That is what hurts the most trading him is that he is not a "Randy Moss" type of guy. It will be a sad day when Brian Dozier is no longer a Twin.
  14. Why would Kinsler not be a good fit for the Dodgers??? They need another right handed bat for their lineup. The only sticking point would the length of an extension. So for a team the spends money like a drunken sailor on leave it would not stop LA if they wanted to make a deal.
  15. My biggest pet peeve are people who cannot form their own comment and have to use someones quote to say something. I hope the Twins don't have to take Calhoun in the deal. Get JDL, Alvarez, and Stewart and be happy.
  16. I would rather sign Trevor Plouffe for like $2-3M and save the prospects and save around $8M or so at the same time.
  17. So much for that move. Just waiting to see who Oakland get for him when they flip him.
  18. Or maybe everything finally clicked with him and he is now coming to his prime years of production.
  19. Twins should go bottom fishing for someone like Sergio Romo. He could be had on the cheap to close and could try to flip him for a prospect as well at deadline.
  20. I see many other contending teams that he would sign for before settling on Minnesota. Most likely the only reason why he is not signed is that his agent trying to get 3 year deal.
  21. So add Kintzler to deal and then maybe sign Sergio Romo or someone else to close because I don't know what to expect from Perkins.
  22. This means Alvarez would be on the table like Dave said in the first place. Calhoun is technically a higher rated prospect.
  23. The best part of the talk out there is that the Dodgers are offering JDL straight up for Dozier. They will look like complete fools if they do a deal involving JDL+Alvarez+ mystery player or players.
  24. Sweet first 2017 post until it gets removed from topic. I just hope however this Dozier deal turns out or if we keep he is not what the new brain trust will be known for. I am not a fan of the deadline talk for a deal to get done.
  25. I think it would be a great signing for the Twins. It would give the Twins a stolen base threat and would be a nice lead off hitter for this team. And if he puts up a solid year he could have a little trade value in July.
